About

Primus was founded in 1984 in El Sobrante, California by Les Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, who were later joined by drummer Jay Lane. Beginning as an underground act, the band slowly gained notoriety and critical acclaim after their records Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991) and Pork Soda (1993) both went Platinum, along with their records, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver (1996), Sailing the Seas of Cheese (Deluxe Edition) (2013) and Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble (2015), all three of which earned Grammy nominations. After the release of their record Antipop in 1999, the group disbanded but reformed as a touring entity in 2010 and began releasing music again soon after; Primus has released nine studio albums in total. The present lineup features Claypool on bass, Larry “Ler” LaLonde on guitar and Tim “Herb” Alexander on drums. Primus have delighted audiences all over the world with their oddball lyricism and out-of-the-box approach to music for over 40 years, and continue to be dedicated to bringing their innovative discography on the road.

The Dead Kenny G's sounded good but I just saw the last song. Gogol Bordello was amazing...I was blown away! Primus was even more amazing than I had hoped for <3

Absolutely great concert, the dynamic was at peak, the concert rocked the arena. Very memorable birthday present for me, thanks Primus! I loved when Les used his extremely cool instrument that seemed homemade with the whammy bar at the top of what looked like a pipe with strings, awesome! And My favorite, Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers

by Primusaur on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Les delivered a spectacular show as per the usual. The cover song was amazing, the classic primus was as good as it has ever been. The crowd was a fantastic bunch of folks the whole experience was everything I could ask for in a concert.

  • Did it right, at the red of rocks

by Morvan on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Didn't see the Dead Kenny G's, to much pre-gaming in the parking lot! But got in right as Gogol came out, it also helped that my good friend talked to Eugine the night before so we were pumped!! Loved the set they put on, of course they always put on a great live show (seen um 3 other times before). AND PRIMUS!! Wow I contacted life on other worlds their set was just as crazy as a cosmonaght

  • Primus is awesome

by Mollyman on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny g's were alright :/ they need some melody from maybe a singer? Cuz the music is cool. Gogol was decent. They had alot of jibberish singing from a hyper dude...that was odd. They're kinda like gypsy rock haha. Primus was incredible. Les is a legend. Can't get enough of them. The lights were cool and I loved the inflatable astronauts on stage. Awesme show!

  • Great great show

by squigs on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

  • Three great bands

by spaceghost on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Primus was just the topping on the cake of an all around great concert expieriance. The hole show was exceptional. As Les Claypool said to the crowd near the end of the show it was "a pretty good bang for your buck."

  • Gogol Rocks!

by radicalleft on 8/14/10Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

That was the best live show i have EVER seen. Gogol Bordello needs to be seen live to be appreciated.

primus as good as ever, by far the greatest bassest to ever live, worth every penny thanks primus

  • by Anonymous on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Primus sucks! Awesome show. Gogol Bordello- fun to watch however every song sounds the same (punked out gypsy polka) that gets annoying quickly. Dead Kenny G's - excellent band

  • Les was a baby

    by Wheels209 on 8/14/10Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 2 out of 5

An uninspired performance and a 1 song encore all becasue 1 idiot through a beer on stage and they couldn't get over it. Ruined the show. Love the band. Disappointed with the show.

  • Primus does not suck!

by Fraggilton on 8/14/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Just wanted to say thanks to all who made the show possible. I threatened to quit my job so I could go to this show and it was every bit as epic as I thought it would be. Can't wait to see them, again, soon!

  • by Anonymous on 8/13/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Primus still sucks. Thank u!

  • Extreme Saxophone, and awesomeness

by Anonymous on 8/13/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Good show, first time at Red Rocks. I have always been a huge Primus fan, but never saw a show. Real cool atmosphere, cool and funny people. Bordello and DKG's were very interesting, good bands.

  • Gogol Bordello !!!!!

    by softball33 on 8/13/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Dead Kenny G's were a great show, they got the crowd fired up just like they are supposed to and played some great music as well. This was my first Gogol Bordello show and just as my friends said I would be, I was amazed! They have so much energy and passion that it spreads through the crowd. They played most of their new stuff and the favorite older songs, about half and half. I will see them every chance I get!!!! I only stayed for a short part of the Primus show, it was good but I had a long drive ahead of me and work the next day.
