About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

  • Terrible

by Pilili on 4/8/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

This show was really terrible. I think only kids under 10 would find it even possibly amusing. No production values, cheap and really just sophomoric humor. Nothing really to do with the Potter books. We left after 15 minutes.

  • Avada Kedavra! this

by Finesse and Mom on 4/5/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

I just don’t even know – this was not Vegas quality entertainment. Really it was a lot of screaming, bad props, pun jokes that weren’t really funny and weird messiness. I really didn’t have a lot to do with the books although they were mentioned it was more like a slapstick sort of thing – I did not find it clever or funny at all. I wish I had my 70 minutes back as well as my $70. I don’t recommend this at all.

  • Wonderful show

by Aaron on 4/4/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this 2 person comedy show Potted Potter. The performers put on a very entertaining show and clearly went off script a few times which made it even funnier.

  • Girls Retreat

by Boss Lady on 3/16/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Our office does an annual retreat to Las Vegas this was our second year, 3 of us. We had awesome seats in the front row got to interact with James and Nick who put on such a fun interactive show. I would highly recommend attending a show you won't regret it. Thanks again for adding to our weekend of adventure.

  • Unexpected nonstop laughing

by Peggy on 3/11/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My kids and I were just passing thru Vegas when an ad for this show showed up on my social media. My 12 year olds and I spent most of the hour and a half laughing continuously. Very creative, some jokes cheesy but you could tell the performers were having fun which made it fun for the audience. I will definitely recommend this show to any Harry Potter fans.

  • LOL

As a huge Harry Potter fan, this show was amazing. I haven't laughed so hard in a really long time. Given these past couple years, it was a bright shining part of a lovely trip to Vegas.

  • One-note show that could use a re-write

by Valentino in the Desert on 2/25/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

I’m sorry, guys. I don’t understand why you don’t apply some more music to the show - and singing. You were good at that. Maybe throw in a twist where the guy that plays all of the characters DOES KNOW a lot about one aspect of the show. Use some video. Up the budget. Hire a woman. Mix it up.

  • Terrible Show

by Chad on 2/22/22Rating: 1 out of 5

Mostly just Toddler humor. Hard to imagine anyone over the age of 10 would like it. I thought it'd be like "the complete works of william shakepere" style, but it was more slapstick, poorly planned and weak. Seemed like they were going for minimal effort, and not in a cute high-school play kind of way. The theater in Vegas was smaller than my middle school's, probably because they can't fill anything else. Don't waste your time. Also, people think quiddich is fun in this, I disagree.

  • Aimed Toward Young Audience, Very Shtick Style Humor

by Allie on 2/22/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

I definitely did not expect the style of show this would turn out to be. Two actors, consistently making the same joke, turning toward the audience, and waiting for laughter.. Or grab water guns and shoot them at the audience, as a joke. Not really so much telling the tale of Harry Potter, but more a high-energy comedy skit with a loose Harry Potter theme to it.. Very shtick humor, like falling down on the ground and waiting for laughter, kind of a similar vibe as the Fozzie Bear character. We eventually got a little more into the humor once we got past the initial shock of the comedy style, but if you're not going with kids, I don't think it's worth the amount of money you pay for it. It is 100% aimed toward a young audience, like elementary, MAYBE middle school age young. Once you get older than that, it's quite a bit cringe-y.

  • Awesomesauce!!

Spectacular show! My ten YO daughter loved it! If you like HP, go!!! Worth every penny 👏👏👏

  • Fantastic 70 minutes!

by Snarky Mark on 2/21/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this show! This is definitely a tongue in cheek review/presentation of the Harry Potter world. Maybe a “serious” Potter fan might not enjoy it, but for me, it was downright funny. My wife said her cheeks hurt from laughing so much. It was a fun ride and the 2 actors were pretty darn good

  • Funny and Irreverant

by M. B. on 2/20/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Had a really good time at this show. Laughed a lot. Not a bad seat in the house. Would definitely see it again and highly recommend.

  • Possibly got the names of the actors wrong

by B. C. on 2/17/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

It was possibly Scott and Brendan also, was just going by the names on Twitter... Either way they where great.

  • Great Fun Show

by B. C. on 2/17/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

excellent spoof on 7 epic Books/movies. Dan and Jeff where super entertaining, constantly making us laugh, and always including the audience as they played out all 7 stories using fun props. The only thing i think was missing is when playing out Dumbledore they should get a long white beard prop....

  • Perfect for any Harry Potter Fan

by UncrnLdy on 2/16/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Potted Potter was hysterical! It's a lot to take 7 novels and condense the into 70 short minutes, but Potted Potter does exactly that. The show is interactive, funny, and family friendly. My only regret was not going to see it sooner!

  • For the price of the ticket not great

by Barry on 2/6/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Felt like just a little better than a school production. Nothing like the London versions of Shakespeare in 60 minutes

  • Hilarious

by Karl on 1/26/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Funny, good improv ad needed. Recommend for all ages

  • No no no

by Steve on 1/26/22The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Not what was expected. We left after 15 minutes of excuciatingly bad acting. More like a school production. We felt violated given the ticket prices, even for Vegas!
