Potted Potter at The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas
Talk about magic!
British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about — you guessed it — Harry Potter
Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.
About the show Potted Potter
One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character — including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named — with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).
Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

I booked this show for myself and family that I was visiting, we had no idea what to expect. Not all of my family is a Potterhead like me, and was unsure I they would enjoy themselves. We all laughed until we cried! It was a funny, interactive and entertaining play! I would go again, that is how much fun I is!
We love HP and we really enjoyed this show. The two men are funny and do a really good job at the parody. Bring your sense of humour and love of Harry Potter and you will enjoy this show. The theatre is small and all seats are good. The back 3 rows are 'general seating' but on high stools so are perfectly adequate to see. There are only about 6 rows of seats (very intimate).
Extremely entertaining and well performed. Funny and engaging, the 2 actors were very good.
Nick and James have great chemistry and are very funny. We enjoyed this show so much, we brought back other family members to see it again. I can't recommend this enough. You don't even need to be a Harry Potter expert to enjoy it. My uncle loved the show and hasn't seen or read every book/movie in the series. Everyone should see this show.
I’m so glad I got the chance to witness this live comedy parody.
You do need to know potter, but if you do and aren’t too precious about it, then you’ll love this.
We had not originally planned to see the The Potted Potter, but we are so glad we did! This two man show delivered non-stop laughs and high energy for over an hour. My 11 year old, a Harry Potter fan, has not stopped talking about it. Great family show to see while in Vegas!
As the title reads, sadly, this was such a disappointment. HUGE potterhead (as most of their audience is) BUT I’m not a big fan of improv comedy, and although this (technically) wasn’t one, it sure as heck felt like it but much worse. Usually in a improv comedy show you can give them the benefit and knowing that their material isnt “polished” and some jokes will just fall flat. But somehow these WRITTEN jokes and bits for this show was just unbelievably NOT FUNNY. The repetitive dry humor, trying to drill this ongoing, not funny bit over and over again felt like it was begging for laughter. I did see some of the much older crowd (60+) and the much younger crowd (12-) LOVED this show and all its antics. But it really just wasn’t for me and my wife’s taste and couldn’t wait to leave. I gave it two stars because I got the show for very cheap and thank goodness for that. Otherwise I’d be that much more upset. Still felt like a waste of time tbh so future ticket buyers beware!
The set was made up of 4 or so objects, with little to no relation to potter.. there were only two actors in total. They were funny however it wasn't worth the money. Pass on this if you want to see a show. A comedy show would have been better.
Very entertaining and hilarious presentation of the 7 Harry Potter books. Once the guys managed to wake up the audience and get them into it, it took off. Many hilarious moments, whether rehearsed or spontaneous...you could never really tell which. Audience participation helped feed the performers as people really got in to the Quidditch match, even scoring for the first time in the entire run of the show according to Nick. And the kids taking down the Golden Snitch was priceless...the performance of the Gryffindor seeker was completely mundane until he got to use his beater bat on James, the snitch, taking the championship for us. And the little girl, the seeker for losing Slytherin, volunteering to take one in the face from Nick's soaker so the 'old people in the audience' wouldn't get wet was so selfless, hilarious and pointless as he soaked them anyway...and Gryffindor as well. And the dragon was worth waiting for. LOL This show is one not to be missed, whether you're a Harry Potter fan or not. Tickets are also reasonable.
Didn’t know what to expect with potted pot, but it was a great show! The theater is very intimate, so you’re right in next toand around the performers and the performers interactions between each other and the audience was spot on! The show was interactive, funny, correction, hilarious, and tons of fun. Highly recommended for kids, family anyone of all ages, Potter fans or not!
They were fantastic! Such a funny take and exceptional acting. My 9 year old, 16 year old and myself all loved it! Great creativity and they seemed to be very genuine. I recommend to everyone!!
We found it boring and not at all a “Vegas” style of show that we were expecting. More like an amateur production we would go to at home
Completely worth it! They’re hysterical. Also, don’t sit in the front row if you don’t want to be in the show or get wet.
This is a cute show, it is slapstick Harry Potter. Some people in the audience were laughing the whole time. You have to pay close attention as there are so many jokes I know I missed a few and would catch more if I went a second time. It is a lot funnier for those with Harry Potter knowledge. Actors do a great job keeping it moving and entertaining for all ages. The theater in Las Vegas is small so seats in the back are as good as seats in the front.
By far the best show we saw while in Vegas. Fun for the whole family! Laughed throughout the whole show. Would be happy to see it again. For Potter Fans it's a must see!
I was not a fan of the show, especially for the price. Just two guys with minimal props. It’s literally a Harry Potter themed clown show with no makeup
It was ok. If it was $20 a ticket it would be good. For $50-$90 a ticket I expected more than 2 guys making corny jokes on a stage with props they brought from home. I also expected more of a theater type space not 3 rows of chairs.
Excellent performances! Engaging, fun, witty and highly entertaining! Bravo!
