About

ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:

Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.

Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.

Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

  • Portugal Still the Man

by WSB on 2/17/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing Portugal the Man live. The opener, Snacktime, were very funky and full of energy. They joined PTM during their set and their brass instruments added to headliners music in a cool way. Portugal the Man seemed to be having more fun on stage than I’d seen from them previously. It was a lot of fun for us too.

  • Great band

    Great show!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Band was playing, but

by Gregg on 2/17/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Band was putting on a good show, but the sound mix was so bad, we couldn’t understand the lyrics. Or even hear them.

  • Couldn’t hear the vocals

by Meg on 2/17/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was very clean and a great size, I’m not sure if the band was too big for this venue or what but it was very hard to hear the vocals.

  • Best Live Music!

by JD on 2/16/24Iron City - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

Everything from the venue to the opening band to Portugal The Man was excellent! 👍 I would definitely see them again the next time they're in town.

  • Loved this band but the sound was off

by Roxy S. on 2/16/24Civic Theatre - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

I loved seeing Portugal. The Man in concert as they always play an amazing show with great energy. This was no exception and their new album is phenomenal as well. My only complaint is that the sound at the venue (The Civic) was a bit off and didn't sound right. It was noticeable to many people in the crowd. They should have turned the singers mics up more but they still put on a great performance regardless of the sound issues.

  • Portugal. The Man always puts on a great show

    by Lindsay1587 on 2/15/24Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great, as usual! My only complaint is that I wish they'd have played a few more deep cuts, or pre- Woodstock stuff. Keep up the great work PTM!

  • A let down

    by M.R. on 2/15/24Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

Didn’t play all their well known songs. Low selection of food products to choose. However, the staff and the bar were great.

  • Portugal. The Blah

    by 5.0Lizard on 2/14/24Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 2 out of 5

Bayou Music Center in Houston was an Awesome venue for watching a concert. Clean restrooms and drink stands moved quickly. No complaints on that part. Portugal. The Man had one band opening for them and then they came on. I can't even remember the opening bands name, but nothing special. Portugal came on and had Zero engagement or interaction with the crowd. The vocals were muffled even though the music volume was about right in my opinion. I couldn't even recognize their songs. They ran through their set and left the stage. They did come back for a two song encore in which they played their most popular song finally. Went with a group of seven and we were all pretty disappointed.

  • Perfect but the mics weren’t up enough.

by Jayde on 2/13/24Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

P.TM is my favorite band over 10 years, they’re an amazing group and put on a great show! My problem was the sound wasn’t right, it was so hard to hear what they were singing. The mics were so much lower than the music which is like opposite what it should be. My husband is hard of hearing and higher tones are super hard to hear for him so he basically only heard the bass and the guitar lol. But brilliant as always and I loved being on the rail to see them!!!

  • Great night

by Ummagumma on 2/6/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

Brass instruments and lead Vocals were beyond impressive. The Sound venue is perfect acoustics for bands like SNACKTIME and Portugal. The Man. Great time

  • Not the Best

by Alix on 2/6/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 2 out of 5

I love listening to Portugal the Man’s albums but they just weren’t the best live. I’m not a musician but the sound mixing seemed off. It was hard to hear the vocals over the instruments. I also did not enjoy that their opening band played nearly every single song with them. I went to see Portugal the Man play and hear their music, not their opener. It was frustrating and quite frankly annoying. I’ve seen a lot of live music in San Diego recently and this was the most disappointing concert to date.

  • not what expected

by CarolBB on 2/6/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 2 out of 5

The concert was interesting but not what I expected at all. The band would be served by playing their recent hits early on.. the venue had not a single large screen anywhere. The feeling of the concert was nihilistic. I was tired and out of the demographic.. but left early.

  • Very poor sound quality

by Just bad on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 1 out of 5

I've never had such a big mismatch between how much I like a band's studio music and how terrible they sound/perform in real life. I still enjoyed this show but honestly production value was terrible, several of their songs were unrecognizable due to poor audio/mixing, lights were terrible/super distracting, and the lead singer couldn't look up from the floor the whole night. They seem like cool people that would be fun to hang out with and they've put out some solid albums, but I won't be paying to see them live again.

  • Amazing band, with an incredible opening act.

by Nina on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent concert. Portugal. The Man, never disappoints. One of my favorite concerts in the past decade.

  • Awesome Show

by K Dawg on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

If you like listening to music, then you’ll like Portugal. The Man. I love how they incorporated Snacktime into their set. They sang both old a new songs and we had a great time!

  • Just Meh

by Wakeem on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 3 out of 5

I was really excited to see this band of weirdos, but my wife and I were so disappointed we left early which I rarely ever do. Ironically the sound at The Sound is not great, that combined with too many musicians on the stage equals audio mush. I would recommend all but the ‘super fans’ pass on this show.

  • Great experience

by Gustavo on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

Great from the start to the end, the artist gave me an autograph and got the chance to talk to him. Best concert ever.

  • More Jam Band than I Expected

by Chris on 2/5/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 3 out of 5

They are great musicians but without a front person and very little crowd work, it was far more of a jam band set than I would have expected. Admittedly, I only knew one song but go to tons of shows. The inclusion of the opening act for almost the whole set was really cool as they added some energy. If you like the band, you'll love the show. The Stand is a great new venue too.

  • Wondering myself

by Babootchsk on 1/19/24Rating: 3 out of 5

Agree, less than ideal sound in Montreal. Very heavy handed - everything l've heard from them has been much clearer, no distortion ie wonderful albums and pre pandemic live performances. I think these guys played everyday and basically lived together... then the pandemic, John's jaw, Francis's condition, and band issues, changed things - the return seems sloppy. They were in the zone for 10 years. Could Jordan and the bulls take 5 years off and return still a dominant force? I love this music and l'll give their live shows another go, but if it doesn't clear up, l'll stick to the albums and older live recordings. Hope they have what it takes to get it back. Wish l would have discovered PtM in 2010... Love the new album!
