About

ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:

Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.

Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.

Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

  • Didn’t want it to end

by Anne on 3/5/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Portugal. The Man are better than ever. It was great to be in a room full of people who were entranced as I was, a fantastic cross between a party and a religious experience. Didn’t want it to end

  • Snacktime was amazing

by Snacktime is awesome on 3/4/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Portugal the man was not right, but let me tell you this, Snacktime saved the show, these boys are amazing!!!

  • I was bored at this concert

by Ronnie James Dio on 3/4/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

This concert, for the hype that should associate it, was a let down. I’ve seen much more energy from other bands - not sure I’d go again,

  • SO.FUN!! SO UNEXPECTED!!

by Curlie423 on 3/2/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Portugal. The man and I couldn't believe how amazing the show was! They put a twist on some of the "radio songs"that are popular by slowing it down and making them heavy, but in such a good way!! I loved every song, every member and the whole vibe of the show! I would definitely see them again!!

  • Great Venue, Great Concessions, and Great Bands

by Samuel on 3/1/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Snacktime opened Well, Portugal. The Man, as always, played all of my favorite songs, brought in a contingent of local Native American dignitaries to remind Us of what is Important, and What an Encore Performance with PTM/Snacktime Mashup of Killing in the Name Of/ Give it Away Whoa had a great time !!!

  • Face Melting Psychedelic Rock!!

by MattDurso on 3/1/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Portugal the Man was incredible and so was their opening act Snacktime! They put on one of the best shows I have ever seen! I left feeling so satisfied I could’ve cried! Everyone was grooving and feeling good. Glad to see they are rocking harder than ever - even after nearly 20 years together. My wife and I just saw them at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester and we love that venue! There’s not a bad spot in the house. :)

  • gets better every time.

Wow!! I was blown away by the talent, skill and passion of this show. FUN, EXCELLENT!! I will go see them anytime they play in the area!!

  • Bad Sound, Lackluster Energy

by Maggie on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

They sounded like a coffee shop high school band that brought all the wrong equipment to perform at a larger venue. Even though it was close to the end of their tour, they brought no energy to their set. Overall, the show was an underwhelming imitation of their studio music which makes me question if they can even play any of the instrumentation you hear on their records. The group is a club with a personality, not an actual rock band.

  • Greatly disappointed

by PTM Fan on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

When I go to a concert to see a band that I like, especially one that has such great songs as Potugal, The Man, I want to see the band. Unfortunately, this concert was a huge disappoinment and I would not recommend paying money to see them if they continue to perform with such bad lighting - its behind them, not in front, so you see the band basically in the dark. I want to see ya play and feel ya be the great musicians that you are!! I can hear your music in my car!

  • Get out of the Dark

    by D.O Glover on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Great band- love them. They stand for good things. Great music— they need to let the audience see them! This is the second show at The Anthem where when you sit in balcony the stage is so dark you have no idea who is singing. I can imagine it’s because they may think that there are no stars — but people go to SEE Portugal the Man - they want to SEE them! Spotlights please ! Either way love this band

  • Incredible performance

    by Dave C on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

PTM is one of the most underrated artists out there. Their music is some of the best around. Incredible show had me moving from start to finish.

  • High energy performance

by Dee on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We loved seeing Portugal, the Man at the Anthem! They have so many great crowd pleasing songs, I loved how the opened with the indigenous tribe from Alaska singing, and it was meaningful to be welcomed. The opener and brass section kept the party going. Great show!

  • Horrible show

by Nope on 2/27/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Started off awful, the band brought some politics to the stage which I didn’t appreciate at all because first of all I didn’t pay for a political event.

  • Fantastic

by Katie on 2/27/24The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

My favorite live act, go see them! Always a great time.

  • Opening act great, PTM a disappointment

by MusicLover0908 on 2/26/24The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 3 out of 5

Snacktime, opening act, was great. Very disappointed in Portugal the Man. They didn't come out until well after 9:30 (at least a 30 min lag between Snacktime and PTM). Although I am a supporter of many causes and believe in inclusivity, I don't need a lecture on the subject (unannounced at 9:30 pm after waiting hours to hear PTM). Then when PTM came out, no acknowledgement to the audience who waited in very hot, very crowded, and very smokey conditions. Just started playing. Lame. Used to like them a lot. Not a fan anymore.

  • Good vibes, awful sound

by Mf on 2/23/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 1 out of 5

Something was wrong with the sound. Could barely hear the singers. Love the band but this experience was awful

  • Poor sound?

    by Chuck P on 2/17/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I thought the sound was bad, I could barely hear the vocals. Maybe it's my old ears

  • Could only hear part of the band

by Chris on 2/17/24Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 2 out of 5

I could tell that Portugal the Man were playing their hearts out but sadly we could barely make the music out. The heavy bass drowned out all of the guitar and most of the vocals.

  • PTM Louisville

    by G. P on 2/17/24Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome, great opening from Snack time, and PTM really killed it! They are so much better in person.
