About

ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:

Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.

Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.

Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

This was my fourth time seeing PTM, and the first three had a similar set list, so it was very exciting seeing them rock out with some new additions. I cried at the end when they ended with 1989. An extremely real band, they love to play and are true to their music, and it shows. I feel forever closer to my friends who I went to the show with. Go see them you won't regret it!

The concert was so amazing. The up close venue totally suited all of the bands. Morning Teleportation opened and they were amazing and got the crowd going. Then came The Butchers and The Bakers and they were great as well. Portugal. The Man came on last and wow...they were completely amazing. The encore was my favorite.

The show was great, the lighting display was awesome and the two openers were some of the best openers I've seen.

I came to see The Buliders and the Butchers, and stayed to see most of Portugal. B&B completely stomped the crowd. Portugal gave an amazing show! They rocked hard and the light coordination was amazing!

This was my 4th Portugal expeirence. My one before mojos was the gargoyle in St Louis, dissapointed with that venue. But last at mojos everything that potugal won me over with the first time I heard church mouth came and hit me right in the face! Great venue (except for entry to the venue very disorganized) and Portugal killed it!

  • Portugal. The Man = Amazing Show

by PTMfan on 2/27/10Varsity Theater - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Portugal. The Man combined with a great venue like the Varsity Theater means that fans of this band are in for an amazing show. The show was really well attended and the crowd was really responsive to the two opening acts and Portugal. The Man. Overall really good show with good sound quality, atmosphere, and musicianship, exactly what I expected from my first Portugal. The Man show.

I got the most out of my money for this show over any other I've ever been to. Music for 6 hours, and the ticket was $15.00

I had gone to the show to see Portugal. the Man and i was just blown away by all the other artists. Temper Trap was such an enjoyment to watch. They had such energy on the stage and gained the audiences love. It was nice that such a unique band like Nathaniel Ratecliff and the Wheel put on such an extraordinary show and then to be followed by a band that had the energy of Drug Rug. Portugal. the Man was fantastic and the violinist was an excellent addition to an already stunning lineup. Even more enjoyable was that the artists stayed around mingling with the crowd and seemed extremely approachable. The night portrayed a love and appreciation of music rather than focusing on the popularity's of the bands themselves. CMJ did a good job in choosing their lineup for this venue. I am going to another CMJ show tonight and have no doubt that I will be just as impressed by the band's chosen.
