Portland Timbers History
The Portland Timbers joined MLS in 2009 and wasted little time in their mission to prove that The City of Roses was a proud soccer city. Under head coach Caleb Porter and Newcomer of the Year recipient Diego Valeri, the Timbers clinched the top spot in the Western Conference in 2013, earning their first-ever playoff berth. By 2015, the squad had notched their first MLS Cup victory over the Columbus Crew. Valeri would continue to play for the club until his retirement in 2022 after cementing himself as one of the biggest stars of MLS and earning the league's Most Valuable Player in 2017.
Led by head coach Giovanni Savarese, the Timbers topped the Western Conference for a second time in 2017 and followed the next year with a spot in the MLS Cup Final match against Atlanta United. The Timbers were ultimately defeated, but the match managed to set a then-record for league attendance with 73,019 fans checking in at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Portland won the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament and made another run to the MLS Cup Finals in 2021, but fell to New York FC on the Timbers’ home pitch at Providence Park.

Portland Timbers at Providence Park
Built on one of the most historic grounds in American professional sports, Providence Park is located in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland and is the oldest configured, soccer-specific stadium in the MLS, dating back in some form to 1893. The 25,218-seat facility has since undergone several renovations, in 2001 and 2019.
Providence Park currently hosts the Portland Timbers as well as the NWSL’s Portland Thorns. The pitch has also presided over matches for the MLS Cup, MLS All-Star Game, and two Women’s World Cups.

Game was good. Newer East side seating and restrooms were much cleaner and nicer than the rest of stadium.
Don't order tickets in sec 211 unless they're seats 1-4...you will not be able to see the opposite side of the field.
Timbers Army section is not a place for families or children.
Too many folks were squeezed into our row - I think this often happens with bench seats. Game was awesome, view was great!
The game was excellent, but.... When I originally purchased these single game tickets there was no mention of them being obstructed view. The stadium has been in existence forever, they should know exactly which seats will have an obstructed view, and should indicate such at the time of purchase. UO did this when the BB team used Mac Court. If I would have known from the beginning, I would not have purchased the tickets. I did receive notice sometime after buying the tickets, and was given the opportunity to get my money back, which I did for 3 of the 5 games I purchased, but I did keep several thinking, "how bad could it be"? Well, we found out....we couldn't see the goal on the south end of the field. These tickets never should have been sold to the general public. If so, it shouldn't have been for $33 (including fees). Does anybody want to buy my remaining game?
Great to see the Timbers home atmosphere as always, even better to see them beat the top, previously undefeated team in the league
AT 74, we are too old to stand the entire game in order to be able to see it
I kinda like that kansas broke their wining streak by scoring on themselves; I hope it hurts more. RCTID
GREAT GAME. TIMBERS WIN. ARMY IN FULL FORCE. JELDWEN IS A GREAT PLACE TO WATCH
Great venue. The Timbers Army (fans) are as much fun to watch as the game.
Excellent venue - seats made watching the entire field easy
There was no parking. General admission meant no assigned seats. These are both things I should have known ahead of time. The whole event ended up being too much work for the $80 I paid. We didn't find soccer as interesting as baseball. Wouldn't bother with this again.
Second half was a let down; too many defensive errors and I have never seen Perkins yell so much at his back line that was allowing way too many Chivas players to be unguarded and wide open. I brought my sister to the game who has never seen a soccer game in her life and her comments were poignant. She was asking why the red team always seemed to have 2 or 3 people guarding the green guys and they, the red team, looked better organized and in better shape....that from a non soccer person. It was disappointing to say the least. I love the games and the atmosphere and hope things open up in a more positive manner. Plus, Chris Boyd is short, why do they keep serving him the ball so high in the air, a couple of his shots were headers as he was backpeddling to get something on the ball which is difficult when you are backing away. I just don't see the offensive using Boyd's talents...he looks like a wasted talent at times
I would give a review, but I missed 2/3 of the goals because my seat was so awful. I have been to countless Timbers games and never been too disappointed with my seats but this was awful. They were sold as a regular tickets, not an obstructed view and I couldn't even see inside the 18 of one goal, and had a pole to my right. When I moved up to sit along the very top row so I could actually see the game I was told to go back to my (terrible) seat.
The feel and the energy at the stadium is simple amazing. Best sports events I have ever gone to. Even the couple of people that don't watch Soccer LOVED the experience. It is a must event for any sports fan.
Fantastic venue and exciting game even with the last minute loss....uggh. Just beware--we mistakenly thought that the stop at the stadium was still in the fareless square. It is NOT and there is an army of TriMet agents at the stop handing out citations.
i was disgusted with the seats we got. obscure view? we could not see 1/3 of the pitch, the big screen or the other goal. these seats should not be sold the game itself was great
Had an amazing time. It is a cool field, has good beer, and a badass soccer team! Cannot wait to go to another game!
Even though we lost. we played valiantly. Portland is showing off their youth with Nagbe scoring our two goals. Playing against one of MLS top teams PTFC really stepped up!
great event! definitely will go again & take friends
