Phoenix Mercury History
The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1997, the Mercury are one of the league’s original eight franchises. The team reached their first Finals in 1998 and have made six total appearances, winning in 2007, 2009 and 2014. The Mercury’s legacy is marked by two major No. 1 picks: Diana Taurasi in 2004 and Brittney Griner in 2013. As members of the Mercury, Taurasi won the regular season MVP in 2009 and set multiple WNBA records, including most career points, most three-pointers and most field goals made, while Griner earned two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and broke several block records. Ahead of the 2025 season, Taurasi announced her retirement and the Mercury acquired five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas, who continues to hold the WNBA record for career triple-doubles.

This was a great game. We had awesome seats and it's always a good time to go to the Mercury game. Only complaint is the didn't throw out enough T-Shirts
Great game. Mercury played like they really wanted to win. Superb execution of plays. 100% from the free throw. Fantastic energy from the crowd. This was only my 4th time at a Mercury game but each of those times had a great time. Will definately look into season tickets.
Pondexter and Taurasi elevated their game from a lackluster One Point Loss on the road to a redeeming blow out win at home. 6th Player and potential ROTY Bonner added not only points, but key rebounds. Taylor coming off the bench, and playing "All In" at both ends of the court is critical to Mercury victories. Coach Gaines, who exhibited questionable (i.e., horrible) clock management at the end of the fourth quarter in the road defeat, utilized the lead, the bench, and the clock to the Team's advantage.
The Mercury were on their game last night!! Defensively, it seemed like there were more than five of them on the court and their rebounding was a large contribution to their lead. Offensively, their teamwork on the court is a joy to watch! Unlike men's basketball, you're watching a game, not a series of hot-dog moves by a couple of "stars".
From tip off to the ending buzzer I was riveted. Its a good thing they have guys coming around with water or I'd have died of thirst cause I wasn't going to miss any of this game. These women are intense and they are the best at what they do. I will be back on Monday to see them finish the job!
The Mercury played very well and it was an enjoyable game. I had a lot of fun and would attend again. Everyone brought their games faces and played their hoearts out to the end. Go Mercury!!
The game was amazing. Regardless of the fact that we smoked the Stars, we passed the ball and saw what talents the other players had on the team. We know that Diana Taurasi and Cappie have what it takes, but it was nice to see them pass the ball and assist the other players on the team. Thanks for one of the greatest games I 've ever seen! I was on my feet and clapping the whole time.
This was a great game! Although the Mercury lost, they're already in the playoffs and probably didn't want to risk injuries so that's more than understandable. It was against the LA Sparks and it was Lisa Leslie's last regular season game before retiring, so it was great to be able to see her play and she was more than gracious giving my friends her autograph!
Great game. Lots going on in Phoenix this weekend with the Cardinals playing the 49er's but we had a great time. Would definitely visit again.
The Mercury games are a wonderful family outing! You get to watch a great basketball game but they also play lots of music and provide lots of entertainment for the kids. I would highly recomend checking one out you will be hooked!
THR MERCURY PLAYED WELL AND IT WAS NICE TO SEE LISA LESLIE PLAY HER LAST GAME. EVERYTHING WENT WELL.
Exciting game - great half time - terrific outcome

Mercury games offer an affordable family outing. Throughout the game there are activites for kids of all ages. The dancers and audience involvement events keep your excitement meter high. Good times had by all.
Great game! The level of women's professional basketball is super high! Very exciting!!
Went to the game, even though it was a loss it was very entertaining like always... Love going to see the Mercury... Also great to see the Local ASU girl Brian January playing...
Although the Mercury lost, it was a good game but all the other activities during the game keep it moving. The Disco night was awesome and Scorch knows to dance in those big shoes. All the events for the kids and the giveaways during the game make it very enjoyable! THANKS!
