Phoenix Mercury History
The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1997, the Mercury are one of the league’s original eight franchises. The team reached their first Finals in 1998 and have made six total appearances, winning in 2007, 2009 and 2014. The Mercury’s legacy is marked by two major No. 1 picks: Diana Taurasi in 2004 and Brittney Griner in 2013. As members of the Mercury, Taurasi won the regular season MVP in 2009 and set multiple WNBA records, including most career points, most three-pointers and most field goals made, while Griner earned two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and broke several block records. Ahead of the 2025 season, Taurasi announced her retirement and the Mercury acquired five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas, who continues to hold the WNBA record for career triple-doubles.

We had a blast and the ladies got the job done in a big way.
The game was awesome. The Mercury played so good that San Antonio had to make wishes the whole game becuase they went from the SA Starz to the falling stars!
The game was so exciting!!! In Phoenix everyone at the game stand until the first Mercury shot is made. They got our first shot in the first few seconds. I have never been at a professional game and seen the D be so tight that the other teams wasn't able to get ANY shots off and the shot clock ran out. Not only did it happen in this game it happened TWICE. The Phoenix Mercury Shot Out the Spurs. Whoooo Hooooo Ladies way to play B Ball!!!!!
The Mercury game was great my girls love supporting the team. Hopefully they will win the Championship again.
We had such a great experience at the Phoenix Mercury first playoff home game! I am still amazed at how good they are. It was nonstop entertainment! Great rapport with the fans. Let's get many more fans on board for the next game.
Great game and so much fun! We were a little disappointed with some of the calls of the game, but impressed with the positive attitudes of the players throughout the game!
Awesome! Go to the next game!! Don't miss WNBA games if you can possibly go. You won't be sorry!!!!
Took my 2 daughters ages 13 and 16 we had a GREAT time. Plus met a few players after the game . This is the best value for the money !!
As always it was a great experience! It's so kid friendly and we appreciate that! She was so excited, knows all the songs and gets up & dances & shouts! Most of all, you make it affordable!
Great game sorry that Mercury's lost. I hope DeWanna is doing good she had a hard hit.
I without a doubt love attending Mercury games. However I'm always against them because I am not a DT fan at all, I've also noticed that you make more friends being for the enemy, I've never had a bad experience at a Mercury game before but last night the woman sitting in front of us was being a pig when it came to the free stuff. She walked away with 3 t-shirts and 2 free American Idol tickets. Now just because I'm not a DT fan doesn't mean I don't have other players on the team or coaching staff that I like. It's just hard to have a favorite team when you love multiple players from multiple teams. All in all I would defiantly recommend checking out a Mercury game if you haven't already. Their a BLAST!!!
The game was great. Little 5' 3" Temeka Johnson was the spark plug of the team. She is so fast and so short that she seems to get lost in the crowd as she darts about on the floor. The whole team looked great but to me Temeka was the star of the game.
It was our first wnba game and we had a good time.
The game was better than I it would be. The ladies played excellent ball and it's always nice when your team wins. The entertainment at every quarter and half-time were family friendly and enjoyable. The seats were expensive for the view.
Tourasi's back in action & the Mercury are ready to claim their former glory! The games are always fun for the family - great basketball action, the hip-hop squad's always entertaining and the intermission games always crack my 9yo up!
Very exciting, very children friendly, very interactive for everyone!
The play of the Mercury was not up to championship status. Tarazi need to stop being a cry bay on the Referees calls
The game was very close and it was very fast paced. It was a very physical game, the refs don't call tons of stupid fouls like in the NBA. The whole family had fun!
WOW What a great Game- 116-84- The Mercury are really stepping it up- Some of the Behind the back Passes from Temeka were just off the Hook- Way to go MERCURY!!!! A definate need to see.....
The game was awesome. We had great seats and everyone around us got into the game. We look forward to the next game and hope to take others with us. I encourage others to have a great evening out and support the Mercury! Go team. We are proud of you!
