Phoenix Mercury History
The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1997, the Mercury are one of the league’s original eight franchises. The team reached their first Finals in 1998 and have made six total appearances, winning in 2007, 2009 and 2014. The Mercury’s legacy is marked by two major No. 1 picks: Diana Taurasi in 2004 and Brittney Griner in 2013. As members of the Mercury, Taurasi won the regular season MVP in 2009 and set multiple WNBA records, including most career points, most three-pointers and most field goals made, while Griner earned two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and broke several block records. Ahead of the 2025 season, Taurasi announced her retirement and the Mercury acquired five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas, who continues to hold the WNBA record for career triple-doubles.

The best thing about the game is the sweet victory!
Mercury organization kicked off the season with lots of excitement to include the presentation of rings, Taurasi, Taylor (we will miss you a lot) and Griner being there, give aways and ending with a win.
The first 5 minutes of the game the Mercury couldn't miss. They executed flawlessly and looked as if they were ready to win another championship. The best part was, they won this game without their 2 superstars! The crowd was awesome, we had a great time at the game, and I will be back!
Aside from the venue doing a terrible job at having people to direct you which line for entrance you need to be in the overall expert hence was fantastic. It was my daughters first Mercury game and she was thrilled!
This was such an exciting playoff game. The crowd was so pumped up and I was glad I could be a part of it.
Great team, great game! So much fun watching these champions play ball!
I didn't think it was going to be very good, but i was really surprised how great of a game it was. I have to go back next year.
Best sit ever love it.. i would buy more tickets like this for these events .
Wonderful Women are a pleasure to watch. They work together, encourage each other. The crowd response was outstanding and the outcome even better
The Mercury are glorious to watch. Their focus and precision is unmatched by any other WNBA or NBA team. They are cooperative as opposed to combative and the result is excellence. Good luck tonight in game 3 in Chicago.
Had a great time! Game was unforgettable! These girls deserve our support. Truly a champion team! I plan to go to a lot more games next year!
This was the best Merc game I have ever seen. We attended all the home playoff games and of course they were all fabulous. We always get tickets in section 114 row 11 or 10. These are our favorite seats and have been sitting there since the 2007 and 2009 playoff and regular season games. We are gone most of June and July so we do not purchase season tickets. As soon as we don't travel as much we will be first in line to get season tickets. The US Airways always is a joy to attend a game at, clean and very courteous staff. THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THE MERCURY SINCE FOREVER...
I was expecting this performance last year. I got it this year and I'm GLAD I went to the game. Season tickets next year!
Awesome to be at game and not home. Mercury have always been the best team in the WNBA. So proud to be a number one fan.
It was Awesome! the seats were great, the crowd was loud and fun. The Mercury and Sky put on a great show! Venue is great!
The WNBA is so much fun with this squad. The level of play was great. The Mercury dance troop is much better than the Suns Dancers who seem to be stuck in the 90's with their dated routines, outfits, and style. The fans are great--really friendly at the WNBA. We sat behind the basket, so we had an excellent view of the action. The Light Rail makes access to the arena simple.
It was so much fun to be at the finals in person, to feel the exuberance of the typical Mercury crowd, and add my voice to the uproar! Also got to ride the tram for free for the first time...loved it!
Both teams played their hearts out, but the Merc simply outclassed the Sky.
GREAT GAME! The Mercury played a fantastic game! Great basketball skills! Exciting!!
