Phoenix Mercury History
The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1997, the Mercury are one of the league’s original eight franchises. The team reached their first Finals in 1998 and have made six total appearances, winning in 2007, 2009 and 2014. The Mercury’s legacy is marked by two major No. 1 picks: Diana Taurasi in 2004 and Brittney Griner in 2013. As members of the Mercury, Taurasi won the regular season MVP in 2009 and set multiple WNBA records, including most career points, most three-pointers and most field goals made, while Griner earned two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and broke several block records. Ahead of the 2025 season, Taurasi announced her retirement and the Mercury acquired five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas, who continues to hold the WNBA record for career triple-doubles.

Love my seat! Totally a surprise where my seat was located! Game was a great game!
Everything was perfect! Being so up close was the best part
This was the best event ever!! Can't wait to make plans for the next one!
Mercury fans are the best! Really great evening. Lots of energy from the dance team. Great music. Lots of fun.
My husband and I enjoyed the game. Loved watching the students and fans' enthusiasm.
I was very disappointed with the Refs, they were the worst I have ever seen. They completely destroyed the game. I will not be going to any games anytime soon after this. I also was not happy that the email sent to advertise the with the Mercury vs Liberty had a picture of Shoni Schimmel returning to play in Phoenix. She did not get to play despite the American Indians crowds at the game cheering for her to play. She wasn't allowed to play despite being in an Arena with an American Indians name - Talking Stick. A poor choice for a coach who had the game won, and was ahead with a lead of 10 points and less than a minute left and Shoni did not get to play. Poor coaching decision.
I ordered tickets online: two tickets, a personal pizza and soft drink. This was a date night with my husband and the first time we had attended a Mercury game. The pizza was very good, the Mercury beat the Sun and my hubby and I had a very fun evening. I highly recommend this package!
Excellent triple overtime hard fought contest! Great game
Took my 4 year old to her first game, she loved it! We didn't have to spend any additional money on food, since it was included. Perfect!
All you can eat was definitely worth it! But the concessions closed at end of 3rd quarter so remember that when going to get refills.
had great seats in section 110 sat next to some great season ticket holder and had lots of fun only down side to the game/evening is that the "Mercury" lost the game in the final seconds and now at this point in time have a 3 game losing skid
My seats were awesome, I needed handicapped seating, and every one there were very helpful. The game was exciting all until the end when a bad call ended the Mercury's season. But I will be back again next year! Thanks!
got very good seats, for the most part a very good and entertaining game, however based on the calls from the officials the mercury got cheated and I mean bad, I for the most part do not believe that officials have any stake in the outcome of a game for professional sports, but for as many games that I have been to,it appeared to me that the outcome had been determined before the game was played and that the lynx would win.
Great game played by the Mercury. It was a blow out. The Mercury took the lead and never looked back. Just looking forward to another WNBA Title.
The game was great, but wish there were more vendors.
just great moment! just a great moment! this is long enough
What a ending to an enjoyable evening. When we need to step up we DO.
Watched the Dream hit ten-three pointers the first half, lead by 10 points at half and loose the game. As I watched #10, Marta Xargay from Spain defend Shoni Schimmel and Tiffany Hayes, I knew this is a special player. Even without Tarasi, the Mercury is doing just fine. Sat in section 114...... worth every penny.
The game was good, but the experience less than totally enjoyable: 1. WAY too noisy. 2. Nearby fans holding up large posters, blocking our view. 3. Too much standing. 4. Nearby fans making a racket with those thin plastic inflatable "clapper sticks." Gave me an earache!
