Pop-rock musician Phillip Phillips wowed “American Idol” fans and judges in season 11 with spot-on covers of iconic songs including Steve Wonder’s “Superstition”, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, and Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle”. Phillips’ scratchy vocals, reminiscent of his own idol Dave Matthews, are exemplified in his chart-topping debut single “Home” as well as sweet, mellow tracks like “So Easy”. His platinum-selling first album The World from the Side of the Moon includes the upbeat love song “Gone, Gone, Gone”, which is sure to be a wedding song for Phillips fans for years to come. The Georgia-born singer/songwriter wound up taking home the title of American Idol, but only after dealing with congenital kidney issues that landed him in the hospital for eight surgeries during the “Idol” season. Phillips recovered in time for the “American Idol LIVE Tour”, performing major-market concerts alongside the season’s nine other top contestants. The 46-city trek sold more than a quarter of a million tickets overall, placing it at No. 62 in the Top 200 North American tours of 2012.
Fabulous show, great intimate venue. Doesn't get better thank that!!!
I bought the VIP meet and greet experience for my fiancé at Christmas. We had done this previously when Phillip was touring with Goo Goo Dolls. Phillip Phillips is always amazing, down to earth and personable. He is very good with the meet and greets even though you can tell it’s not his favorite part. This Evening with Phillip Phillips even was the best we have been to. It was great to hear the raw music without all the additives. He did a great job with his set list of walking us through all different events that influenced his music. The small breaks between songs was nice to have a little background to the song. His accompanying guitarist (I do apologize, not sure if it was Erin or Aaron) was amazing and very talented as well. Beautiful venue, nice staff and fairly comfortable seats. We loved it. Look forward to more events like that!
This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Phillip Phillips is an amazing singer, guitar player and human being. Loved this concert!
Funny, down to earth, talented performer. Brought my 11 year old and she loved it too!
I took my daughter to this for her birthday and we had the best time! The Whitaker Center is not huge so it was indeed an intimate setting and we could see, hear and experience the music with Phillip! I’ve enjoyed him since he started out! Hope he comes back to this venue.
Phillip played an intimate set with 1 other musician. There were 2 acoustic guitars, and that was it. He played for about 45 mins and came out for an encore afterwards for 2 more songs. He sounded amazing and played all of his best songs. I really hope he comes back to Harrisburg.
GREAT SHOW - LOVE THE ACOUSTIC INTIMATE SHOW. LOVE HIS VOICE - HE IS VERY TALENTED! WILL GO EVERY TIME HE IS IN TOWN!
Philip Philips appeared for a 2- man acoustic show at the Space in Westbury on Sunday 1/19/20. His voice was in fine form and he came across as personable and genuine throughout his performance. In addition to his vocals, he demonstrated a unique, complex guitar style and was accompanied by the extraordinary Errol Cooney, who lent color and texture to each song. Highlights were his hits, Raging Fire, Gone, Gone, Gone, Home and a beautiful song, Dance With Me, that he wrote as his first wedding song for his wife (which was performed with much feeling). I wished he had performed another of his hits, Miles. Philips has a very compelling style and is very likeable. Although he obviously emulates the style of Dave Matthews, he is less jazzy and more folkie. His covers (such as Wicked Game and Led Zeppelin's Ramble On) were done with his own unique style and added something to the originals. My only disappointment is that the concert was a little short (about an hour and 20 minutes, including 2-song encore). I look forward to hearing from Philip in the years ahead.
This venue was made for his voice and acoustic set. So intimate and raw. His personality is so great and so was his voice and who he was accompanied by. Would love to see him again and at a venue like that!
Ok. Clearly I am a fan of Phillip if I've been to 5 concerts. To put it in perspective I've been to shows when he toured with John Mayer and Goo Goo dolls.. obviously those were AMAZING. But this acoustic tour that he's on right now is indescribable. You really get to know more about him, and hear RAW acoustic talent. It truly is a different experience that I will remember the rest of my life!
Philip sounded great and his guitar playing was great
Seeing Phillip Phillips for the first time live was really a true privilege. It’s was amazing. He was amazing.
Phil was amazing. We loved how real he was, and how he spoke to the audience in between songs sharing personal little bits. He gave a great show but it was over in what felt like a blink of an eye. Maybe it was because there wasn’t an opening act, but we were leaving the venue around 9:30. He started at 8:10. We would absolutely see him again because he’s a phenomenal artist. We just really wanted to enjoy more songs and more of him! It ended too soon and left us disappointed.
This is my 12th Phillip show. He does not disappoint. The venue was really nice and intimate. We had a great time
Amazing show. He is talented, funny and phenomenal musician!
You could tell that Phillip Phillips has been looking to do an acoustic tour for some time! He was funny, relaxed, and gave a great show! I took my 9 year old son and he loved it too!!!
This concert was absolutely fantastic! We could've listened to Phillip Phillips and his band sing and play all night! Great venue as well!
I love Phillip Phillips. He puts on such a good show!! concert!
Gavin DeGraw is just so electric. He infused so much heart and soul into his performance. The night was just so perfect, save for a few giants that stood in front blocking all us tiny girls’ view! Can’t wait to see him again !
Was a beautiful show, Jersey Shore was amazing, made for a memorable evening . Sound was great, and entertainers were on time. Guest appearance with Bon Jovi band member, Joe P. Also
