About

Pop-rock musician Phillip Phillips wowed “American Idol” fans and judges in season 11 with spot-on covers of iconic songs including Steve Wonder’s “Superstition”, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, and Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle”. Phillips’ scratchy vocals, reminiscent of his own idol Dave Matthews, are exemplified in his chart-topping debut single “Home” as well as sweet, mellow tracks like “So Easy”. His platinum-selling first album The World from the Side of the Moon includes the upbeat love song “Gone, Gone, Gone”, which is sure to be a wedding song for Phillips fans for years to come. The Georgia-born singer/songwriter wound up taking home the title of American Idol, but only after dealing with congenital kidney issues that landed him in the hospital for eight surgeries during the “Idol” season. Phillips recovered in time for the “American Idol LIVE Tour”, performing major-market concerts alongside the season’s nine other top contestants. The 46-city trek sold more than a quarter of a million tickets overall, placing it at No. 62 in the Top 200 North American tours of 2012.

  • Phillip Phillips was disappointing!

by Michaelphyllis on 3/24/14Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 3 out of 5

We liked Phillip Phillips on his own without all the loud accompaniment. It was too loud and very hard tro hear his voice!! The Brandt center was not a good venue - it was freezing cold in there!!

  • Amazing show!!

Opening band "Twin Forks" was pretty good. Kinda folky for me but their energy was fun. Philip Phillips was just purely Amazing in stage! Great energy :) I would recommend anyone who enjoys his music to attend his concert!

  • PP was much better than expected

Showed a whole different side other than Idol. Like the bluesy rock side.

  • Phillip Phillips rocks!!

by jazziejaz on 3/22/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

When Phillip comes out on stage you can feel the electricity reverberating off his body. That boy knows how to charm an audience. He dances, sings and plays his guitar like a pro. I have seen him in concert a couple times and will see him again. There were women and men in the audience and ages from 3-73. I recommend going to see his show to everyone.

  • Phillip Phillips Rocked

by Dacollin on 3/22/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

If you were expecting a low key, acoustic folksy performance, you were in the wrong place. High energy set with a 5 piece band backing him up. Outstanding show.

  • JOJO

by Dougeeeeee on 3/22/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the concert very much. The theater was easy to find and parking was cheap enough ($10) and close. There are no bad seats in the house. The only thing I could maybe complain about is that it would have been nice if the music was a little lower so that we could here Phillip Phillips singing a little more. Otherwise it was a great experience.

  • Phillip Phillips Awesome

    by rae1022 on 3/22/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

Phillip Phillips is a guitarist, lyricists, singer. When he performs music oozes from every part of him. He gets lost in the music and so does the audience. He puts his heart, soul and body into his music!! His band is equally as talented!!! These guys puts on a show that will blow you away and longing for more. Days after his concert you will stay on a Phillip Phillips " high ".

  • Phillip Phillips was great!

    by harrishr3 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

The only thing that could have been better is if he had a more extensive catalog allowing him to play longer.

  • Don't miss out!

by SDBM on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

Phillip Phillips put on an amazing show! This was truly one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and I go to at least a dozen concerts a year! He has great energy, personality, talent! You can tell he really loves performing!! He engages the audience from the moment he appears onstage. I plan on seeing him every time he's in the area - he's in my top 5 favorites now!

From the TERRIFIC opening act Twin Forks to Phillip just performing his cute little heart out it was AMAZING. Can't believe this was his only US appearance. HE IS INCREDIBLE!

  • Phillip Phillips Oozes Talent

    by pk213 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

I go to many concerts and have seen all types of performers. I have to say that the Phillip Phillips concert was one of the most entertaining, energizing concerts I have ever been too. You can see and feel the music through Phillip's face, body, words and songs. His music and arrangements gave me happy feet. I stood up the entire concert and danced. Phillip also surrounds himself with amazing band members. He will be around for a very long time-I look forward to seeing him again and hearing anything he puts out to the world.

  • Amazing Concert

Phillips is headed for a great career. He is very talented and has a wonderful voice. I felt he gave his all and the audience responded. Loved the small venue. In a few years he will be playing at the larger ones so this is the tour to see him up close and personal. Highly Highly recommend!

  • Phillip Phillips is a star in the making!!

    by Berky69 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

I'm pretty sure I posted a review like this after seeing him as the warm up act for John Mayer last summer but Phillip Phillips is a true star. His energy is incredible and everything from his singing to guitar playing to how he interacts with the crowd has all the makings of rock legend. For those of you to have been lucky enough to see him in a small venue like the Genesee Theater, you'll be telling your friends years from now how you saw a star early in his career.

  • Unexpectedly great show

    by Ace1022 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

Show was gift for my wife but I think I enjoyed it more. I really didn't think Phillip had it in him to be such a performer. Has that Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Chris Martin combo in him which is rare.

  • Phil Phillips is an amazing entertainer

by TicketholderR on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

The group was fantastic. Phil Phillips has always impressed us with his artistry and music, and it was wonderful to see how much he has grown as an entertainer as well.We loved, loved, loved it! Twin Forks was a nice choice for the opener, and the theater itself is an amazing venue-- large enough to hold a couple of thousand people, beautifully restored, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable seating, and valet parking. We had a great view of the stage.

  • Phillip Phillips high energy!

by slhdressage on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, very high energy and he gets the audience to join in at times. Great music and every member of the band has a time to be in the spotlight with their talent during the concert.

  • Needs to work on being his own style

    by CoolDad007 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 3 out of 5

PP is talented and entertaining. However, he was influenced a bit too much by Dave Matthews. My suggestion: he is good enough to just be himself. His show was well worth the ticket price. No encore so leave after the last song to beat the crowd.

  • Fantastic Concert!

Phillip Phillips gave a fantastic show. The performance was entertaining and he had great interactions with the crowd. Opening band, Twin Forks, was great too.

  • Where Were the Ushers?!

    by Hello915 on 3/21/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 3 out of 5

Concert itself was great!! On the other hand, those who sat around my friend & I were obnoxious. Two middle aged women had a poster and kept waving it which blocked everyone's view behind them. We had intoxicated teenagers behind us. One of them split one drink on my seat and jacket. The group continued to talk loudly through the event. After the drunk girl was led to the bathroom to get sick, the others decided to use their flashlights on their phones to find a wallet. There was no common courtesy from them, just rude drunkness. I wish the staff of this theater took their jobs a little more seriously. Paying customers came to see a show and not deal with this type of behaviors.
