About

PETER MURPHY IN CONCERT:

Post-punk legend and godfather of goth Peter Murphy has been an emblem of dark romance ever since his debut with Bauhaus in 1978. As frontman of the legendary group Murphy made a name for himself with his spooky baritone voice and macabre theatrics, and he remains a spellbinding performer more than three decades later. Whether he's mesmerizing with Bauhaus classics like "God in an Alcove" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" or treating fans to favorites from his solo career, Murphy never fails to bring chills on his unforgettable tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Peter Murphy got his start as a singer with Northampton, UK-based post-punk outfit Bauhaus, which he was asked to join in 1978 because the band liked his look. The group made their debut in 1979 with the single "Bela Lugosi's Dead", a nine-minute slice of dirge rock that stayed on the British independent charts for two years and served as the launching point for the goth rock movement. After a successful run that landed them four LPs on the UK Albums Chart, Bauhaus called it quits in 1983, allowing Murphy to pursue a variety of other projects. His biggest post-Bauhaus success came as a solo artist with '90s hits like "Cuts You Up" and "A Strange Kind of Love". In 20142 Murphy released his ninth studio album Lion to rave reviews, and he continues to treat fans to career-spanning sets on his legendary tours.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Murphy has not lost it one bit, his voice and stage presence is amazing as always and the decades of fans there enjoyed every minute."

"Another great show! Peter only gets better with age, played one of my favorite song from his solo career "A Strange Kind of Love".

"This was a great night for Bauhaus fans! So much music. He played for a very long time and looked and sounded great. I saw the last Bauhaus reunion show. . .this was just as good!"

A Show Not To Be Missed

    by J. D. on 1/28/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

Peter Murphy always puts on a fantastic show because he enjoys entertaining his audience. I'm a longtime Bauhaus fan, so any opportunity to hear their songs live is a treat. This particular tour was even more appealing for the simple fact that David J had reunited with Peter Murphy for the celebration of 40 Years of Bauhaus. Seeing David J on bass was the icing on the cake! The show featured "In The Flat Field" played in its entirety followed by several Bauhaus hits. The 90 minute show was a true highlight for any Bauhaus fan, so don't miss out if you get the opportunity to go!

    Magical

by Brucifer on 1/23/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

Show was spectacular. Paying for a parking spot and not getting to park. Pretty Lame. Looks like it happened to a lot of patrons also.

by Redbrush on 1/23/19Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Amazing show! Peter Murphy and David J exceed our expectations. This was my 4th time seeing Peter Murphy, however it was the first time seeing him play with original Bauhaus member David J.

After all these years, his voice is still there! It was everything I'd hoped it would be.

What a great show. His voice was incredible. This is the 3rd time I've seen him live, and probably the best of the 3

    Mesmerizing Performance

by GwenRaven on 4/22/16Royale Boston - Boston

Peter Murphy played a mesmerizing show. His voice is strangely addictive and his lyrics are intricate poetry. With such a vast catalog, there is no way he could play all the fan favorites, however, the absence of "I Fall With Your Knife" left me a little disappointed.

Peter Murphy , great as always. Saw Bauhous @ The Channel years ago. Great then. He is always intense and into the music in my eyes and ears. Hope he keeps it going. Bass drums and guitar at their simplified best.

Peter started with a series of new or obscure songs. Coupled with the poor sound and an over-reverb in his microphone, it was pretty terrible. We had a friend with us who left after 4 songs. We left after 8. I remember seeing Peter in Pittburgh years ago and he left at the end of a very short set because the crowd was small. Similarly I got the sense with this show that he really didn't care what the audience wanted to hear from his catalog and that he was going to play whatever the heck he liked. Very disappointing.

Peter Murphy hasn't lost it one bit!

by CommanderMW on 9/8/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Great event and The Fonda Theatre was a perfect venue for the following that loves and adores Peter Murphy. Murphy has not lost it one bit, his voice and stage presence is amazing as always and the decades of fans there enjoyed every minute. The outside terrace upstairs is one of the gems of the Fonda. It looks down Hollywood Blvd west and the atmosphere is very retro, a part of the this long time Hollywood theatre.

    Peter Murphy excellent as usual!

by SAoROMA on 8/5/13The Fillmore - San Francisco

Peter Murphy Celebrates 35 Years of Bauhaus concert at the Fillmore was spectacular, of course. He seemed to be loving every minute of it while onstage. I also had a meet and greet ticket, not knowing what to expect, but he was very kind and patient, warm and welcoming to the large crowd of meet & greet ticket holders all waiting for a piece of him. The only drawback was the audience. I did have a few nice experiences with some fans down on the floor, Peter Murphy fans are diverse in age, and many are over 40. But there were some seriously rude and nasty people on the floor---not the usual drunks being jerks, but people who seemed sober and angry, furious even. Pushing and shoving their way through, hitting people with elbows (no, they weren't dancing, they were shoving people out of their way), one guy shoved me out of the way and stopped right in front of me and he was taller and I'd been there for half an hour already. When I told him I couldn't see anymore, he told me to "suck it." I'm a short woman, he was a taller man, he shoves me and tells me to "suck it." Pure awesome. The Fillmore isn't very fun because of the patrons.
