Peter Frampton on Tour

With the Peter Frampton Finale: The Farewell Tour, an iconic figure in rock takes the stage for one last round in 2019. Commencing June 18 in Tulsa and ending October 12 in San Francisco, the tour follows the singer and guitarist's announcement of his retirement due to his battle with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder.

It makes for a poignant occasion for any fan whose life has been touched by Frampton's songs in the five decades since the singer and guitarist first earned renown as the teenage frontman for Humble Pie and became one of the biggest sensations of the 1970s.

The evening will be a celebration first and foremost. The music legend always has been warm and engaging in signature songs like "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," and he wouldn't have it any other way. For the new tour, Frampton performs alongside his longtime bandmates Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Steve Mackey (bass), Adam Lester (guitar), and Dan Wojciechowski (drums).

Peter Frampton Background

From co-founding one of rock's first supergroups while still a teenager to releasing the most famous live album of all time, Peter Frampton has had many milestones in a career that began in the London borough of Bromley in the early ‘60s. Inspired by heroes like Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, the young guitarist began his musical pursuits as an adolescent alongside David Bowie, an older classmate who became his lifelong friend.

By the time he was 16, Frampton was having his first hits with The Herd. When only 18, he co-founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Spooky Tooth's Greg Ridley. The group's mix of hard rock and progressive styles made them a pioneer of heavy metal.

After going solo in 1971, Frampton toured tirelessly in the U.S. His efforts paid off in 1976, when Frampton Comes Alive! became a phenomenon. Topping the Billboard charts for 10 weeks, it sold eight million copies and spawned three smashes in "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."

Later career highlights included playing guitar on David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and touring with a who's who of other six-string heroes as Frampton's Guitar Circus in 2013. Released in 2016, Acoustic Classics featured new performances of many of his best-known songs, including a few favorites from Frampton Comes Alive!

    Who'll stop the rain

by Edmo on 4/16/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Frampton was amazing. He can still rock. The weather was terrible. It was cold and raining, not the best conditions for an open air venue.

Amazing Show (despite rain and cold).

by Baron Von J on 4/16/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Peter Frampton, the consummate professional that he is, put on a truly amazing show to a packed house, despite the weather. He was interesting when he spoke and was genuinely grateful to the audience for braving the elements. His guitar work was as good as it has ever been, especially considering how cold it was - you could see his breath as he sang! The tribute to David Bowie (Rebel Rebel) and the video montage that accompanied it, the nods to his Humble Pie days (Shine On and I don't Ned No Doctor) , the Soundgarden tribute (Black Hole Sun) were performed excellently, and pics of his family and pets really appeared heartfelt and were very touching. The cover of The Beatles, While My Guitar Gently Weeps was a perfect track to close the encore with. Lastly, a shout-out to the band - they were excellent and gelled perfectly. Overall an outstanding performance by a true music icon. *PS - He more than deserves to be in the Rock and Roll HoF and should darn well already be there!

    Overall good.

by Manny on 4/16/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

It rained that day, and while we were waiting in line to have our tickets scanned, the line was being held up because someone was able to ,locate their ticket electronically on their phone. Instead of moving them to the side and letting others go, they held the line up. It made it worse with the rain!

    Frampton is STILL alive.

by Rob Scott on 4/16/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Peter is still a top notch entertainer. His singing and playing are remarkable. The band was exceptional and really listened to each other. Great sound and dynamics w the arrangements. I’ve never seen so much energy being transmitted to the audience while the band is sitting in chairs! Come on. They were great. The rain…? Oops. A memorable evening to be sure. Frampton still comes alive and puts on a great show! Thank you Peter Frampton.

Awesome Concert, One of the Best Ever

by SteveF on 4/16/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I've seen Peter Frampton in concert several times, in my current state of California, and from Lubbock, Texas to Haarlem, the Netherlands. This last show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles was one of the best I've ever seen. Frampton's energy and enthusiasm kept me smiling and tapping to the music all night long. He and his band entertained us with the skill and passion. I highly recommend seeing him as often as you.

    A guitar legend!

    by Kathy L on 4/11/24

Saw him in Denver last Sunday. Our mouths were agape with all of the jamming solos. We had scheduled an uber for the 2 1/2 hour mark (surely he'd be spent by then), but he was still playing! We had to miss most of the encore, when they started playing Humble Pie songs and Rob Arthur was singing. Ahhhh. I saw him the first time in 1977 when I was 17 and mostly in love with his vocals and looks. This time it was so much better when we could really appreciate the guitar mastery. Also loved Peter's stories and interaction with the audience. Yes, he's funny too. We're voting every day for the Hall of Fame. He's a shoe-in, but why did it take so long?

    a dream

    by anonymous on 4/8/24

I'm 17 years old and i've been listening to him since early 2020. With his farewell tour happening just a few years prior I thought I would never see him perform but oh. my. god. I saw him in KCMO just a few days ago and he was everything I could have dreamed of. There is something truly magical about watching someone have over a 50 year career. Kudos to this man! An incredible night.
