Peter Frampton on Tour
With the Peter Frampton Finale: The Farewell Tour, an iconic figure in rock takes the stage for one last round in 2019. Commencing June 18 in Tulsa and ending October 12 in San Francisco, the tour follows the singer and guitarist's announcement of his retirement due to his battle with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder.
It makes for a poignant occasion for any fan whose life has been touched by Frampton's songs in the five decades since the singer and guitarist first earned renown as the teenage frontman for Humble Pie and became one of the biggest sensations of the 1970s.
The evening will be a celebration first and foremost. The music legend always has been warm and engaging in signature songs like "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," and he wouldn't have it any other way. For the new tour, Frampton performs alongside his longtime bandmates Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Steve Mackey (bass), Adam Lester (guitar), and Dan Wojciechowski (drums).
Peter Frampton Background
From co-founding one of rock's first supergroups while still a teenager to releasing the most famous live album of all time, Peter Frampton has had many milestones in a career that began in the London borough of Bromley in the early ‘60s. Inspired by heroes like Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, the young guitarist began his musical pursuits as an adolescent alongside David Bowie, an older classmate who became his lifelong friend.
By the time he was 16, Frampton was having his first hits with The Herd. When only 18, he co-founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Spooky Tooth's Greg Ridley. The group's mix of hard rock and progressive styles made them a pioneer of heavy metal.
After going solo in 1971, Frampton toured tirelessly in the U.S. His efforts paid off in 1976, when Frampton Comes Alive! became a phenomenon. Topping the Billboard charts for 10 weeks, it sold eight million copies and spawned three smashes in "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."
Later career highlights included playing guitar on David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and touring with a who's who of other six-string heroes as Frampton's Guitar Circus in 2013. Released in 2016, Acoustic Classics featured new performances of many of his best-known songs, including a few favorites from Frampton Comes Alive!

What a concert.....just goes to show that a truly great guitarist never ages and classic rock is timeless
The night was totally AWESOME! Loved the concert was well worth it.
Gin Blossoms blew us away! We were standing up the entire time. The lead singer really knew how to work the crowd. He was out in the audience dancing and clapping with everyone. It was sooooo amazing!! It only got better when Peter Frampton hit the stage for two sizzling hours. He is funny and sounds the same as he did on his albums. He and his band were having a blast! Made everyone feel as though he was there just for us not the money and the thing he does with his mouth-WOW!!!! I want to go back today and the next day...... You have to see this show-by far the best concert I have ever seen!!!!
The concert was awesome! Took me way back! _________
This was one of the best concerts I have been too in 25 years. It really brought me back to my younger days. Great Job!!!
This Was the best concert I have been to. I was raised on country music and when I got married started listening to Peter Frampton and others. He amazed me on how he plays the guitar sings and uses his voice box. Also he is very considerate of the others in his band giving them the spotlight too. I would go see him a million times more if I can. I would also pay a lot more for the tickets. I love Peter Frampton and his music and his band. He is a legend that I won't forget and I will never forget this night!
Gin Blossoms did their thing well and got the crowd involved some, but seriouly who went there to see them. As for Frampton, it was everything I expected. The fireworks afterwards we're well above average as well. Excellent ending to a great concert.
Despite some rain, it was a great time at the Iowa State Fair! Both bands really worked the crowd, with Frampton thowing a fit on stage to see to it that security let fans down the center aisle. Gin Blossoms did a much better job of interacting with all fans--including front row (challenged fans) than did Frampton--he basically ignored.
Peter Frampton gave an awesome concert for almost 2 hours - lots of energy and incredible guitar playing...loved the mouth synthesizer!! Liked that he did both old and new stuff!
Mr. Frampton showed us all his stuff last night. His remarkable talent has actually improved and his versatility as a musician has matured and refined itself to match the man himself. His band is a wonderful mix of old and new members with his drummer being from DES MOINES!!! I had a wonderful experience seeing him again after all these years. If your thinking about going, I highly reccomend it!
I wasn't real anxious to drive the 4 hours down to Des Moines to see the show. But despite the heat and humidity I'm glad I did. I've seen Peter 7 times now and every show is great. He plays about 2/3rds of his show with his classics and the rest songs that aren't well known except to his biggest fans. Last night he said that one of the songs was the first time that it had been performed in public. Peter is a guy who loves to perform and always puts all he has in it. This time my 15 year old son attended with me. I was amazed after the show when he told me that it was the best show he ever saw. Now he knows why I go every opportunity I get. Peter NEVER disappoints his fans.
we had great seats and enjoyed the gin blossoms out in the crowd! both bands sounded great!
Peter Frampton just gets better with age, like fine wine. If you have a chance to see him, don't pass it up! He shreds the guitar better than anyone half his age.
The Gin Blossoms are a nice opening band, but Peter Frampton is truly amazing. His voice is still great and he has major guitar skills that are as good as anyone in rock music today.Peter put on an excellent show.It was well worth the money.
The music was tight, and Peter used about 5 guitars or so to great affect. Great support from the band, key boards et al. Signed, sealed, delivered was geast. Voice tube effect was super. All in all, great show, great time and thank God, I could see his show once again! in a small town fair like Iowa State Fair.
For all of those who chose not to attend the Peter Frampton concert last night at the Iowa State Fair, it's you're loss! Frampton still plays the guitar with the best of the true rock n roll legends. Playing his black Les Paul and being backed by a driving, extremely talented band, Frampton left his audience wanting more. He played all of his 70's classics as well as new yet to be released songs from an upcoming CD. His voice still has that happy talented range that captures you with it's strength. He ended his curtain call with a beautiful, powerful rendition of the George Harrison classic "While My Guitar Gently Weep" showing his guitar prowess and his soulful vocals. A great night with Peter Frampton, still one of the kings of the blues, rock era.
Overall super. Frampton sounds that same as always, and instramentals are fantasitc, and better than ever. old stuff and new stuff... would go again.
totally awsome show. peter will be known as one of the greatest of all time. " I'll give you money " was probably one the finest moments. what a great "band" as well. backing guitar player deserves a different title like "second best guitar player on stage"
Frampton might be an old guy but his concert was amazing!
I don't usually enjoy concerts. They're usually too loud to truly enjoy the music; mixed poorly; and artists just usually don't sound near as good live. Frampton was great all the way around. I'd venture to say this might have been the best concert I've seen!
