Peter Frampton on Tour

With the Peter Frampton Finale: The Farewell Tour, an iconic figure in rock takes the stage for one last round in 2019. Commencing June 18 in Tulsa and ending October 12 in San Francisco, the tour follows the singer and guitarist's announcement of his retirement due to his battle with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder.

It makes for a poignant occasion for any fan whose life has been touched by Frampton's songs in the five decades since the singer and guitarist first earned renown as the teenage frontman for Humble Pie and became one of the biggest sensations of the 1970s.

The evening will be a celebration first and foremost. The music legend always has been warm and engaging in signature songs like "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," and he wouldn't have it any other way. For the new tour, Frampton performs alongside his longtime bandmates Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Steve Mackey (bass), Adam Lester (guitar), and Dan Wojciechowski (drums).

Peter Frampton Background

From co-founding one of rock's first supergroups while still a teenager to releasing the most famous live album of all time, Peter Frampton has had many milestones in a career that began in the London borough of Bromley in the early ‘60s. Inspired by heroes like Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, the young guitarist began his musical pursuits as an adolescent alongside David Bowie, an older classmate who became his lifelong friend.

By the time he was 16, Frampton was having his first hits with The Herd. When only 18, he co-founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Spooky Tooth's Greg Ridley. The group's mix of hard rock and progressive styles made them a pioneer of heavy metal.

After going solo in 1971, Frampton toured tirelessly in the U.S. His efforts paid off in 1976, when Frampton Comes Alive! became a phenomenon. Topping the Billboard charts for 10 weeks, it sold eight million copies and spawned three smashes in "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."

Later career highlights included playing guitar on David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and touring with a who's who of other six-string heroes as Frampton's Guitar Circus in 2013. Released in 2016, Acoustic Classics featured new performances of many of his best-known songs, including a few favorites from Frampton Comes Alive!

Fantastic concert with classic Frampton. Two solid hours without a break from the man who can make the guitar sing!

    Frampton was awsome!!!

by DJFitzie on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

I felt that this was one of the best concerts that I have seen in a while. Frampton's stage prescence and incredible guitar playing left me wanting more after the show was over. Events like this will keep me coming back to the fair and other Frampton events for years to come.

    Frampton review

by Framfan on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

I finally got to see Frampton live!!! About damn time!! I'm 36, been an avid fan of his music for around 18 yrs. now. Actually, some of earliest music I remember hearing was Framptons. As a guitarist myself I came to hear the man play. He unquestionably keeps getting better through the years! The man has honed a unique sound and style of his own. Blending blues, rock and jazz stylings(the later keeps becoming more pronounced) with impeccable fluidity, and a palette of always real cool and interesting tonal colors. Peter seemed to favor an ES-335 which was a little different to see him playing. I also noticed "Show me the way" took on a bit of new life. A more driven sound, less clean and jangly. They had me thinking they were gonna jam "All along the watchtower" at the beginning, till Pete broke into that classic lead we all know! Also, any gear heads out there... what's that he's using that sounds similar to the talk box?? The guitar dueling in "Money." Adam you rock those 65's!! My only personal very small disappointment was the tunes he choose not to play. Nothing from '94's Peter Frampton disc! Has he ever even done "Shelter through the night" live? When was the last time he did "Breaking all the rules?" We did get "Signed, Sealed..." that was a surprise. Aside from that we pretty much got what was expected and a handful of tunes I'm just not familiar with yet, but this is Frampton! It was all very entertaining and fun to watch him play! Overall, a very good show I'm glad I caught!

Peter Frampton was great in spite of everything!

by elfincat on 8/16/09Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs - Wilkes-Barre

Frampton was great. Having a concert in the bright sunlight was not! There were a lot of equipment problems, but he made the best of it. Would like to see him again, in the dark, with all the special effects which were not there at this concert. It's a shame that the stage managers wasted all their time setting them up!

Great Show, I had a blast. I loved it when they played their classic songs. Only issue is that the concert was a little too loud.

    Peter Frampton was awesome!

by BeachKate on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

One of the best State Fair concerts we've attended. Gin Blossoms had a great warmup and Peter Frampton performed as though he was enjoying the show as much as the audience. From his classic favorites to a first-time-for-an-audience number, the energy and techniques were right on! So glad to see him have a venue such as this and not on the casino circuit as so many others from this era.

Frampton sounds just like 30 years ago !!!

by Dunny on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Took me back in time! Thought is was the late 70's rather than 2009.

    Frampton still has it!

by Redaero on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Peter Frampton may not have the long curls he once had but he still does have the same talent as he did 30+ years ago! My husband & I kept saying "he sounds the same!". We have been to many concerts with various artists performing & it seems that time does take a toll on a lot of their voices. Not the case with Peter Frampton! Not only does he still sound good, but his guitar playing is amazing. I had never seen him before so this was the concert I didn't want to miss - just so I could say that I saw him. I thoroughly enjoyed his show.

THE FAIR WAS GREAT, PEOPLE VERY FRIENDLY ALL DAY. GOOD BEER, GOOD FRIENDS, AND GOOD CONCERT. FRAMPTON LOOKED LIKE HE STILL REALLY ENJOYED WHAT HE DID AND HE DID IT VERY WELL. HE CAN STILL TEAR US A GUITAR.

    Peter Frampton- Sioux Empire Fair

by Rambow on 8/16/09Sioux Empire Fair - Sioux Falls

After hearing news about this from the internet, I knew this was a concert i couldn't miss. And i must say, for a ticket price of only $21 we were presented with a great show. On the other hand, the opening act Korey and the Fireflies were not spectacular. It seemed that all of their songs were the same and their stage presence was very generic. After hearing them I was worried that the show wasn't going to have a good outcome but once Frampton stepped on the stage with his guitar and started playing, I knew it was going to be a great concert. Peter's stage presence was amazing, once he started speaking to the crowd they instantly connected with him and followed his every move. As myself being a guitarist, his soloing had me absolutely blown away. For attending a rock concert, Peter Frampton's jazz style of guitar was interesting for a rock concert, but i enjoyed it very much. 30 years ago my father went to a Frampton concert in Sioux Falls, and he stated that the 2009 version of Peter Frampton was much more skilled than the Peter Frampton of the 1970s. His newer songs were just as exciting and inspiring as his classics! I enjoyed this concert very much, and would undoubtedly see him again if given the chance

    Frampton Rocks

by SparkyT on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Great show! Gin Blossoms opened up and had many in the crowd singing along. The band was tight and pleased the crowd. Frampton mixed it up with old and new songs and showed that he hasn't lost his touch. I was glad i went!

Frampton has not lost a thing,,,except his hair!

by Reedo on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

A great mix of old and new. Second time seeing him and this was even better. Iowa State Fair is a great venue to play and I think Peter felt the energy. His comments between sets and the version of "Do You Feel" was appreciated by the crowd. Dan Wojciechowski was excellent on the drums and Rob Arthur an inspiration on the keyboard!!!!

    Frampton still alive and rockin!!

by RickD49 on 8/16/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

This was my thrid attempt to catch Frampton in concert since 1979. Both concerts were missed due to Military orders. This time weather threatened. The rain let up just before the concert started then picked back up 5 minutes after it ended. Peter ran through the playlist like a magician mixing new material with othre's covers like Black Hole Sun then went to the time test classics. "Do you feel like we do" was amazing!!! Peter has held up maverlously over the past three decades. His voice still hit most of the high ranges Bottom line, this was so worth the wait and would love to see him again in the future.
