Peter Frampton on Tour

With the Peter Frampton Finale: The Farewell Tour, an iconic figure in rock takes the stage for one last round in 2019. Commencing June 18 in Tulsa and ending October 12 in San Francisco, the tour follows the singer and guitarist's announcement of his retirement due to his battle with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder.

It makes for a poignant occasion for any fan whose life has been touched by Frampton's songs in the five decades since the singer and guitarist first earned renown as the teenage frontman for Humble Pie and became one of the biggest sensations of the 1970s.

The evening will be a celebration first and foremost. The music legend always has been warm and engaging in signature songs like "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," and he wouldn't have it any other way. For the new tour, Frampton performs alongside his longtime bandmates Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Steve Mackey (bass), Adam Lester (guitar), and Dan Wojciechowski (drums).

Peter Frampton Background

From co-founding one of rock's first supergroups while still a teenager to releasing the most famous live album of all time, Peter Frampton has had many milestones in a career that began in the London borough of Bromley in the early ‘60s. Inspired by heroes like Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, the young guitarist began his musical pursuits as an adolescent alongside David Bowie, an older classmate who became his lifelong friend.

By the time he was 16, Frampton was having his first hits with The Herd. When only 18, he co-founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Spooky Tooth's Greg Ridley. The group's mix of hard rock and progressive styles made them a pioneer of heavy metal.

After going solo in 1971, Frampton toured tirelessly in the U.S. His efforts paid off in 1976, when Frampton Comes Alive! became a phenomenon. Topping the Billboard charts for 10 weeks, it sold eight million copies and spawned three smashes in "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."

Later career highlights included playing guitar on David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and touring with a who's who of other six-string heroes as Frampton's Guitar Circus in 2013. Released in 2016, Acoustic Classics featured new performances of many of his best-known songs, including a few favorites from Frampton Comes Alive!

    great concert

by georgeaj1 on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

I must admit I didnt know who the gin blossoms were until I went to the concert. I heard their songs before but didnt know who they were. They were awesome. Peter Frampton was amazing. That man can really play the guitar. And it was a fun concert the way he interacted with the crowd. I would go see him again anytime.

    Peter Frampton was Phenomenal

by macmomma on 8/17/09Stiefel Theatre - Salina

Peter Frampton was delightfully phenomenal Sunday night at the Stiefel Theatre. I've never been so excited to attend an event such as this one. I felt that Peter was also having a very good time in our quaint city of Salina or is it Salena, KS.

    Peter Frampton - Awesome!!

by Kathianne on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Peter Frampton is more awesome now than he was in the 70's!!! He played at the Iowa State Fair on August 15 and on September 6 he is playing at Harrah's in Council Bluffs and my husband and I are driving two hours to see him again. We were both big fans in the 70's and are even moreso now. I love his CD Fingerprints and look forward to the next one. If you have a chance to go see him - GO - you won't be disappointed!!!

    Frampton was awesome

by Landlockedblonde on 8/17/09Stiefel Theatre - Salina

For a guy who's 60....he still rocks. Voice sounds better than ever and his guitar playing was amazing. A great concert, the Steifel Theatre should try to book more crowd pleasers like this one.

    Frampton still rocks

by klynne66 on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

The Gin Blossoms warmed up for Peter Frampton. They played for only 40 minutes. Also they were all cramped up on a little stage so there wasn't much room for them to move around, however, they were still awesome. This was my first time seeing Peter Frampton and he is an amazing performer. His wit, style and guitar excellence are off the charts. All in all, this was a great concert.

    AWSOME MUSIC

by ronlikesrock on 8/17/09Stiefel Theatre - Salina

AWESOME MUSIC. No question who the guitar jammers are. All guitar players, bass, drummer and accompaniment were great. Keyboard man is tops! Salina Steifel Theater is a great venue for music with close proximate y to stage from most anywhere. We were back center and could see and experience everything. Beginning act was very good lead in with guitar magic as well. Only gripe was slow to start, then long time (40 minutes) to change out stage from 20 minute beginning act to Frampton. Frampton Show started about 9 and went to 11:30 making it a long night. No need for smoke, mirrors and wild vids or lights. Frampton holds your attention entirely with pure talent and performance. Cell phone and Camera users - Turn em OFF! they are a total distraction to the audience. Good thing Theater didn't allow drinks inside or that's where your electronics would have ended up! And I know they don't swim well.

    Frampton was amazing!

by no1FramptonFan on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

First of all I cannot believe that more people did not turn out for this show! This man is one of the most amazing guitar players ever! Frampton played for close to 2 hours and it was an absolutely unforgettable show! We took our 14 and 11 year children who also LOVED ever minute of it. This guy knows how to jam. Great version of Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun.

    Frampton at the Fair !?

by LesPaulFan on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Peter Frampton played the grandstand at the Iowa State Fair Sat. Aug 15. To say it was incredible would be an understatement. Still can't believe he was at the fair but it was a good crowd and he made it a great experience. From the opening to his encore it was an outstanding show. And watching Frampton with a smile on his face playing everything from Jr. Walker to the Beatles and all his memorable music in between was impressive. He closed the show with a jaw dropping version of "While my guitar gently weeps." It was a once in a lifetime event but I'll try to see him again. Glad he came to the Iowa State Fair of all places to blow the crowd away.

    Frampton still rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Lannie on 8/17/09Stiefel Theatre - Salina

Loved to see that Peter Frampton still has it goin' on in 2009! He and his band were amazing! Definately suggest that any fans catch his show if he comes anywhere near your town. My only complaint was the younger generation and their stupid cell phones, texting and recording made a distraction for me with the brightness of the phone and blocking my view by holding up the phone to record. I sat behind a young person who wouldn't let it go.

Frampton was great, Steifel was a disappointment

by StiefelFirstTimer on 8/17/09Stiefel Theatre - Salina

The performance was outstanding, as expected. Peter Frampton is a legend, and a true professional. Unfortunately, the crowd at the Stiefel was rude and always trying to be the center of attention, yelling at the performers and trying to disrupt the show. The sound at the Stiefel was also less than professional -- uneven mix, overwhelming volume to the point of distortion. If you go to see Peter Frampton you will have a great time, but don't see him at the Stiefel.

    Frampton was simply fantastic!

by Emma05 on 8/17/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Better than when I originally saw him in 1976. One of the greatest guitar players of our era, song writing and singing as good as ever. Top concert of the year for me already and would be suprised for it to be topped.
