  • Great Event

    by M. L. on 1/7/20Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

It was our anniversary so we thought we would give the symphony a try. We are so happy that we did. We loved every minute of the performance. The staff assisting with the seating were ever so kind and helpful. We will be attending again soon.

  • Russian Spectacular

by Captain Tony on 4/9/19Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

First: Security was first rate. We felt safe within the theater. Every entrance and exit was covered. We had to pass through metal detectors to enter. Once inside there was a music lecture up stairs. It was boring to put it mildly. Once seated in the main theater the conductor thought we needed another lecture. Could have done without that. Once the music started everyone was respectful and quiet. The orchestra gave a wonderful performance. They received a standing ovation from the audience at the end. I liked everything but the lectures.

Selections covered several decades and were very pleasant to listen to. Would recommend that film clips accompany the performance. .

  • Ticket experience

by Bob on 1/22/19Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

Ticket Master said the theater didn't accept printed tickets so you had to have a cell phone. That was a bunch of bull I took a picture of the tickets and printed them and they were accepted no problem.

Every single time we attend the Sanger we always are delighted. This was no exception.

  • An Unforgettable New Years concert

    by A. W. on 1/3/19Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

The show itself was incredible, Tony and his band as well as the pop orchestra backing the performance was nothing less than spectacular. Other a seating arrangement mix up and no leg room, I was thoroughly impressed with an almost sold out event. I would do it again in an instant. Thanks very a joyful New Years concert to all involved!

  • Classical Mystery Tour was a Great performance

Thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. I would purchase a ticket to see them again.

  • It has been too long

    by B3hammond on 5/2/17Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time in a very long time that I have been to a Symphony. I took my Grandson and Daughter to the concert. He doesn't talk much. However, on the way to his home, he and I were "Chatterboxes". He is studying the violin and plays it day and night. This concert also gave me, a 69 year old, the desire to start another band even though my music is Blues and old Rock & Roll.

  • The "Russian Spectacular" was fantastic!

by SUPERSNOWTIGER on 4/4/17Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

The music was flawless and captured the imagination. The conductor was brilliant in that he shared some of the history behind the music and both he and the orchastra were full of energy. My wife especially enjoyed the music as she is Russian and the music to her was heard by her while growing up in Russia. She was beaming with pride as the music played.

  • Best of John Williams in Costume

    by DoctorME2 on 2/14/17Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

Great Venue, Fantastic Music, Fun Cosplay Characters. Of course Peter and the orchestra did John Williams proud but what really set the evening off was the cosplayers bringing Mr. Williams' music to life. I would love to see more of this type of thing.

  • Excellent Music, A Bit Annoyed at Theatrics

by JollyMollie on 2/14/17Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

Highly recommend this show, as it was fantastic. I love the PSO and John Williams, so this was a double win. Hearing the scores in person as opposed to through headphones really brought out some nuances that I had not noticed before. During the show, they had characters from the movies come out in costume (Stormtroopers during Imperial March, e.g.). This in itself was really cool, but what was annoying was all the fans applauding right in the middle of the theme. I was there to listen to music, not see costumes, so I was disappointed to miss some of my favorite parts of some scores due to applause. I understand the excitement, but applause in the middle of a musical piece is not appropriate for the symphony (maybe if it were a Bruce Springsteen concert, sure) - for this, I subtract a star to an otherwise outstanding performance.

Enjoyable. Tell the actors in the tableaux to stop hamming it up and just pretend to be statues. Hamming is hokey.

  • Talented Group

by IntergalacticMegatron on 5/3/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

I've always enjoyed classical music, and this orchestra is quite talented. The conductor discusses the pieces their playing in advance which helps explain the circumstances the music was written under, and technical things to listen for, which really helps me appreciate it much more. On top of that, the artists are all very talented which makes for a wonderful experience. Pair that with the excellent acoustics of the Saenger theatre, and you're in for a treat.

  • Sounds of Europe

by DDLittle on 3/8/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful. I was very impressed with skill of the orchestra and the guest performer. Wonderfully done.

  • First and Last Attendance

    by Music4Two on 3/8/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 2 out of 5

I have attended multiple events at the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, FL. I have been delighted by each performance. I cannot say the same for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra: Sounds of Europe. The performance lacked professionalism and intensity. It only takes a couple of bored and lagging musicians to sink the performance. One musician wore his sunshades pushed up on his head and slouched low in his chair when not playing. I would expect more formal behavior of a novice orchestra's dress rehearsal. Guest pianist, Roberto Plano was amazing. His enthusiasm and talent were the hit of the night.

  • Cirque de la Symphonie

This show was amazing. The music with the performance was a masterful, funny and entertaining mix.

  • Cirque + Symphony - a great match!

Great musical favorites for the music fans and great performances for the theatrical/cirque fans.

  • Fond Memories

by CatbirdC on 1/3/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

The New Year's Eve concert with the music of Elton John and Billy Joel brought back so many wonderful memories for me. The show was awesome! We were encouraged to and did sing along with most of the songs and the atmosphere was very upbeat the entire time. This was a great way to usher in the new year.
