Our granddaughters and I, truly enjoyed seeing this one performance with all our local ethnic dancers participating in this well planned event.
It was beautiful! A great way to kick off the Christmas season!
Excellent talented dancers! Costumes were beautiful, the dedication from all involved was apparent ! Sound and set where very good!
I brought my granddaughter to The Nutcracker at the Savannah Civic Center as her first ballet. She and I were both mesmerized by the quality and stunning optics of the performance! I wasn't expecting the level of quality in performance and the beauty of the sets and costumes! The security and staff were friendly and helpful. Since I am disabled, the comfortable, roomy seats were nice as well. It was a memorable evening, and well worth the ticket price!
We have seen performances of the Nutcracker in other cities and were very disappointed in this venue. It is a shame because the cast was talented, the sets were beautiful, and the dancing was great. However, it is completely inexcusable for a performance to begin 50 minutes late. The long (and very slow moving) line to get inside the theater was ridiculous. After the 5:30 show finally started at 6:20, we couldn't see most of the first 15 minutes of the performance due to all of the people still trying to find their seats. The ushers did not show people to seats resulting in many people being in the wrong seats and having to move during Act I. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay for all of Act II since we were already late for our dinner reservation.
I believe this was more of a venue issue and not the ballet company issue. The performance started an hour late and then they proceeded to continue to seat people after it started. This impeded our view and distracted us for almost the whole first scene.
The dancers shined while keeping us engaged in the performance of the Nutcracker! Great opportunity for young dancers to perform with professionals! This is my 3rd year seeing the South Carolina Ballet Company and it was still delightful!
The ballet was beautiful however, it was supposed to begin at 5:30 and did not actually begin until a little before 6:30. It is inconsiderate and unprofessional not to be punctual and beginning an hour late is ridiculous. When the production company CEO announced that it would begin 10 minutes late because people were still trying to get through security, I was ok with that. 45 minutes later, I was not ok. Their time is no more valuable than my time and I arrived an hour early so that I made sure I'd have enough time to go through security without being late to the show. They should have started the show on time to be respectful of the many people who were sitting there waiting rather than delay it for people who showed up late.
My self and my daughter attended our first ballet! It was wonderful. We really enjoyed the entire show. Will be attending next year for sure.
This was a beautiful performance- different age groups. Each dancer had a lot of heart and everyone looked great and did a wonderful Job!
