About

Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

If you know Penn & Teller, you know what to expect from them - and yet, they are still able to surprise you, to amaze you, and to amuse you. They make a show from (what it seems to be) almost nothing: not lavish production design, not breathtaking costumes, nor musical numbers a la Busby Berkley. But their shows are far from being boring: they are original, mind-boggling and most of all fun!! Whether you like magic or comedy, you won't be disappointed. If you don't like neither, you'll walk out of their show a changed person. This was the sixth time I've seen P&T live, and even if the show were identical to one I've already seen, I wouldn't have cared: you go to these shows to see P&T and you get exactly what you want - and it's fantastic!!

As five stars indicate, the performance was amazing. If you have not seen Penn and Teller live before, I highly recommend the show. An excellent balance of comedy and magic.

We really enjoyed this show! It was funny, amazing in spots and overall exciting!

  • A great experience!

Pen and Teller have sooo much style! They seem to debunk old magic tricks and show you how they are done, but then they put spins on the tricks at the last minute that always leave you surprised! Penn talks a lot and guides you through all of his tricks and pieces with very entertaining language and with a lot of humor, while Teller speaks very little and mimes most of his comedy. I would most definitely recommend throwing your hand in the air as much as possible in order to become one of the participants in their magic acts. They bring up several participants and do some very humorous tricks to them! My only regret is that this show was not longer. 190 for two was a little pricey for the 1.5 hours of show. altogether amazing though.

Great show, really a world class act. Even more amazing that they waited outside after the show and signed autographs and took pictures with everyone that wanted to.

  • I Expected a Lot…

…and that's pretty much what I got. From the very audience-friendly theater facility to the Mike Jones Duo opening act to the actual show, I couldn't have asked for more—except another hour of Penn and Teller.

  • Great entertainers!

Visiting Vegas and want to see a show without spending a wade of cash for tickets? Go see Penn and Teller. If you like magic and a little comedy you can't beat this show. Expect some political humor, but nothing to preachy. If you do go see them go a little early and enjoy the music. I'm still puzzled on how they do that bullet trick even after seeing it live.

  • Penn and Teller among the best.

by MagicPTFan on 9/11/09Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Chris Angel is a hack. Go to Vegas and see P and T. They admit they are tricking you. We all know that magic is a trick. But Penn and Teller and don't insult you. They tell you how it is done and then do it anyway. Funny, clever, and their magic bullet trick is still the best trick I have ever seen.

  • Penn and Teller were entertaining

by jerseyslam on 9/5/09Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Penn and Teller were entertaining, however, some of the act has already been seen on tv. Would have liked all new and non from tv appearences. Teller does some amazing things and is all over the stage. Audience participation really made it close and personal.

Unbelievable slight of hand and things you just can't work out, but only 1 hour 10 mins and a lot of that's talking...

  • great laughs, cool tricks

by atgirlygirl on 8/31/09Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

the show was worth every penny. the humor was dry and sarcastic... just how i like it! Penn and Teller are very funny and talented. If you don't like simplicity and lots of talking, then this is not the show for you. the show did not include any super crazy technology or amazing acts like cique-soleil.. again, this is more a comedy/magic show.

  • Mind bottling!

by Kyriaki on 8/15/09Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This show is so great! They are really great at what they do! I love that none of their tricks are cliche or generic. They really have you at the edge of your seat and wondering how in the heck they did that! And then they tell you! And you STILL don't know how they did it! Bottom line, this show is amazing, definately the best money I've spent and one of the best shows I've ever seen on the Las Vegas strip. 10 thumbs up!

Very entertaining. No Lions and Tigers here. Good fun with an insight on how some tricks are performed. A Jazz duet performs before the show, with Penn, dressed in a loud coat and hair flowing, playing the base. They say that they are constantly cycling through their acts, so I would expect to see a little something different with each visit to Las Vegas. They spent a large amount of time, after the show, greating the guests, and yes, Teller does talk.
