About

Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

We saw Penn and Teller on our first night in Vegas, having flown over from London that very same day. Normally I'm falling asleep in my dinner on jetlag, but watching Penn and Teller kept my attention all night! It was an amazing show and I just don't know how they do some of those fantastic tricks! Would defo recommend :-)

Excellent Show. As you arrive Penn is actually playing intermission music with the show's piano player. Once the Show starts Penn & Teller provide many details as to how musicians/illusionist perform there task, but while telling you how they throw new wrinkles into the trick to keep you confused. The closing act is one of the best I've seen, and I haven't found anyone else that has even attempted.

  • Magic, wit and flavor - a fine bottle of Cognac

by Cardinalfang on 6/29/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Penn and Teller are funny, creative and a joy to watch. They make you laugh, they amaze you with their tricks and the show never hits a dull note. I would love to see them again when we are able. The fact that my partner was chosen to come up on stage and participate only made the experience more meaningful for both of us. How did his iPhone end up in a Tilapia? The venue at the Rio was excellent. One of the best acts in town!

  • penn & teller put on a great show!

    by tljent79 on 6/23/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Penn and teller are pretty awesome. They even take the time after the show to meet and greet with EVERY fan that wants to.

  • Ain't Nobody Like Penn & Teller

by Nakasero on 6/23/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

No matter how many times I see these guys, they're always new. Sure, I've seen the tricks before, and some are easier than others to work out, but the patter shines, the personalities are too individual to dispute, and the artistry is, well, not like anyone else's. Plus, where in the world do you get to hang out after the show with the guys you've just been watching? You even get to hear Teller speak, if you're really lucky! They're a Vegas don't-miss, even if you're only in town for a night.

  • Great show, but could be better

by Oitstwue on 5/26/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

If you'd like an evening of comedy & magic, it doesn't get better than P&T. A great show and definitely recommended. My only criticisim is with production quality... While "okay", it doesn't measure up to Vegas "A" show standards... P&T have been doing this show for 9 years and constantly are changing it up, but if The Rio would loosen their purse strings and allow the creativeness of P&T to flow freely... with a "cost be dammed" attitude towards production similar to Cirque shows, it could easily become the most popular show in Vegas.... nonetheless.... ya gotta go.

  • Penn & Teller - Las Vegas

by mrkofee on 4/29/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely fantastic!!! Only way to improve it is to make the show longer! Penn & Teller showed that they are a class act after the show- they raced out ahead of the crowd and made themselves available for pictures & autographs until the last person left. They were amazingly approachable, and seemed to really like their fans. By the way, they are both really good musicians as well.

excellent show. Totally different than others. the only stuff that is no so great is too much talking by same person.

  • Insomniac?

    by newyorkgal33 on 3/1/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

My dad had been wanting to see Penn & Teller for years, so my mom purchased tickets for his birthday for the three of us. It was supposed to be the highlight of our week in Vegas. Mom and Dad were snoring within minutes, and I caught myself nodding off. The show was definitely disappointing. Penn is acerbic, sarcastic and seems disdainful of the audience that butters his bread. He speaks very rapidly and it is difficult to catch what he says, especially for older people. We got the sense that they are tired of doing what they do; the boredom showed. Major disappointment.

  • Worth Every Penny

by DrMuzzBuzz on 2/21/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Penn and Teller cover all the classics - juggling, fire-eating, levitation (of a ball) disappearances, cutting women in half and catching bullets in their teeth - all with new twists and lots of humor. Audience participation starts even before the show as we were all invited on stage. Folks from all over the lower level were brought up on stage to participate in some of the funniest bits but sit close so you can see every detail. Pick up your free program before the show because Penn and Teller were outside the theater after the performance signing autographs and posing for pictures with the audience. Worth the cab ride from the strip or catch the free shuttle from Paris or Harrah's. Make sure you get there early - even reserved seats aren't reserved if you don't get there 30 minutes before the show, but you will be treated to some amazing jazz piano performed by Mike Jones with Penn on bass before the 9:00 show!

  • Penn and Teller was hilarious

by TONICSD on 2/8/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

It was my second time seeing penn and teller in Las Vegas. They are incrediable and hilarious. They interact with the audience alot. I do wish there show was at least two hours long. I feel they could do so many more tricks. But it is great that they do pics and sign autographs afterwards. I would definetly see them again

  • Creative Magic and Comedy

by KathyFanGal on 1/24/10Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I sent to see P&T on a Saturday night. We loved the blend of music, comedy, magic, and political commentary. Their tricks are amazing, and the fact that they show you how several of them are done does not take away from the awe and respect they inspire through their excellent execution of their craft. The act is set up as a montage of tricks with musical breaks - both gentlemen are also talented musicians - and the transitions are seamless. It was a nice touch at the end that both gentlemen went out into the theater lobby and graciously greeted the guests and signed autographs. Runtime was about 1.5 hours with no intermission. We very much enjoyed ourselves and, since P&T are always changing up their act, would be happy to see it again the next time we travel to Vegas.

The show was great. Penn & Teller are great on TV and their live show is a lot of fun. They hang out afterward for pictures and autographs, really a good show to go and see.
