Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

  • Penn & Teller truly do not disappoint

by OrlandoFan236 on 2/6/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

This was the second time I had seen the duo as my fiance and I had seen them back in May in Vegas. The Vegas show was incredible and when I found out they were coming to Orlando, I could not pass up this opportunity to see them. This road show only included about 20 minutes of tricks performed from the Vegas show so it was not too repetitive and I had not seen any of the other tricks except for the ones performed in Vegas. The presentation, commentary and humor were all on par and the show was executed flawlessly. Of course, Penn & Teller waited outside of the Hard Rock to meet every guess just as they do at the Rio in Vegas. Great show and had a great time.

  • Lady's Glasses

by JMFUL on 2/6/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I liked the first 1st act where the ladies glasses started in Penn pocket then ended up in the on Tellers face when Teller had the "cement block" on his head.

  • A smart and witty evening!!!

I took 6 of my friends to see this performance. Everyone was entertained by Penn and Teller! After the show we were all talking about the tricks and commentaries during the performance. It was great! If you are looking to turn off your mind and not think about the illusions you see, then Penn and Teller won't be that good. However, if you want to be intellectually stimulated while being entertained - then definitely see their show. Some of Teller's illusions reach the point of pure art while some of Penn's commentaries will have you thinking about this great society we live in. For the reasonable prices charged, they are masterful entertainers!

  • Penn & Teller are pros !

by seasontixhldr on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

A show that was not necessarily fast-paced, but went by quickly. (Far too quickly!) They are pros and their Vegas experience showed. The audience was made to feel it was part of the performance and being allowed in on some of the secrets of the show. Very entertaining.................with a capital VERY !

  • Great night out!

by orlandolawyer on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

We went to see penn & teller at hard rock live in orlando on Feb. 3. The venue is awful but we loved the show! Penn is hillarious and the tricks were amazing. Some were your traditional magic show fare set to good music and hilarious commentary but some really left us wondering...how did he do that!? All the acts had good story lines and explained the mystery behind magic...my husband and I really had a great time!

  • Outstanding!

These guys are consumate showbiz! An incredible show and presentation. What other act have you ever seen that finishes to a standing ovation, yet thinks enough of their audience to stay after the show to greet everyone that was interested in speaking to them.

  • Clean Cut Fun for Everyone

by Anoopian on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Regretted not having the kids with us for this show. It was a pure and impressive magic show. Two hours of good entertainment. Lots of audience participation. Inexpensive souvenirs. Penn and Teller met with the audience outside after the show. Teller wasn't that friendly and almost ruined the experience for us, but we'll get over it. Penn was great with the crowd afterwards. Nice way to appreciate the guests.

  • Penn & Teller: Magic, Storytelling, Woo-busting

by Money9 on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Equal parts magic and exposing so-called psychics and other charlatans as the frauds that they are!

  • Penn and Teller at Hard Rock Live in Orlando

by Runner2104 on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I laughed so hard at several moments my stomach hurt! I haven't laughed like that in a long time! I now have to go see their permanent show in Las Vegas! Show was around 1 and 1/2 hours. Showed all sorts of magic from mind reading, fire eating, knife throwing, to just the good old cups and balls trick. After the show Penn and Teller came outside and gave as many autographs as people wanted, and posed for pictures with wopever wanted! Penn and Teller are stars, but they are real people!

  • Penn & Teller Rocked at Hard Rock!!!!

by BIGDANIEL on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been wanting to see these two for a long time. Since Vegas isn't a yearly trip being able to see them in Orlando was awesome. I'll recommend Penn & Teller to everyone I talk to about their live show.

  • Unforgettable!

by LizzyBee18 on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Penn and Teller are already super smart, and super funny, and they proved that once again with their performance on the 3rd! They had the audience (and me) laughing the entire time, and I have to say that I was surprised to see their tricks as well! They are famous for breaking all the rules of being magicians, but they make the process funny as well! My favorite trick was the flag trick that they did, as I had seen that previously on a TV show that I loved to watch. It surprised me how they showed what they were doing after words, and I found it extremely hysterical what they referred to the clear piece of paper they used! Penn and Teller did an amazing job, and I would highly recommend anyone to see them! Also being someone who's into politics, I also loved their witty banter, and know others will as well!

  • Great Show, similar content to Las Vegas show

by MurfyGirl on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the Penn & Teller show was great. They are always funny, witty and entertaining. My only complaint about the show was that it was very similar to their Las Vegas show. I was hoping that the road show was different from their home show. They did do a few things that I did not see in Vegas. I will however complain about Hard Rock and their metal detectors. I think it is going overboard with security. You don't have to go through metal detectors to get inside the the Amyway Arena and there are a lot more people there.

  • GREAT SHOW

by joezstuff on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

A great show and a show I will remember! I wanted to see Penn and Teller in Vegas but I missed them, so I was glad to hear that they were coming to Orlando. And at a great price. Of course they didn't have the Big Theatrics that they would have had in Vegas, but give the guys a break, they didn't need to. They got the message across at a great price. They brought folks up from the audience and even kids...They put a smile on everyone's faces at every moment. I am in the entertainment business and have met a lot of celebrities and Pen had the Idea of meeting everyone after the show down pat. He was very friendly to everyone and made sure that he signed an autograph for everyone and take pictures for everyone that he could....Hey Boss! what do you need, you need a picture..sure! no problem..what a great guy! So from the beginning to the end it was a great night. No opening act just pure Pen and Teller the way a show should be! EXCELLENT!!!!

The show was entertaining as expected. I was hoping for the bullet trick, but I guess they save that for their Vegas show.

  • GREAT, clever, very high quality experience.

by CF5mith on 2/5/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful. They were energetically onstage the whole time, then went out front to sign autographs and be photographed with their fans for an hour. Lovely. Would most definitely see them again!

  • Splended and Classy

Funny thoughtful and delightful show. Yes there is incredible magic but it is their showmanship that sets them apart from many other variety artists!
