Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

  • Penn & Teller - awesome!

What an incredible show! This is half comedy, half magic, all fascinating. The audience was totally engaged, drawn into the activities by skillful chatter by Penn Gillette. I'm not a fan of magic...but this goes into whole new territory. I'd see it again tomorrow!

These guys are great! I saw them in Vegas and had to go again. Totally different show. I became part of the show when asked to go on stage. Still can't figure out the trick. They are fun, entertaining and do it all without foul language. You can bring the whole family.

The live show was just average, I wasn't impresed. At times I couldn't wait to be over. I like 'em better in T.V.

Didn't know that it was going to be kid friendly. We thought is would have been more like the show from Showtime.

  • Great, as usual

I've seen Penn & Teller at least six times over the years, most recently four years ago in Las Vegas. They always make the show new. They did two bits I've seen before, the rest was new. Even if bits are similar to old ones, Penn makes them fresh with his great comedic style

What a privilege to see Penn & Teller w/o having to travel to Vegas. We truly enjoyed the show. We experienced some amazing tricks, revealing of their tricks, and true entertainment. Great job gentlemen ;)

Not quite sure it was the right venue at hard rock for this, had to sit sideways to see the stage, stiff neck.........I really did expect alot more laughs & commentarys from them......the magic was pretty cool, but it didn't wow me like I had hoped. Don't know what signing that board out front b4 the show was all about, saw it on stage, but all he did was open it up and pull out a punch line <shrug>

  • Penn & Teller Sorry Fella's

    by cmud415 on 2/6/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

I was really looking forward to new material. Instead we got a mix of old and new. I have seen some of their routines before they are good but would have liked to see bigger and new tricks. May be it was the fact that they were away from their home base of Las Vegas and couldn't bring more elaborate tricks with them. I hope that was the case.

It was simply awesome from beginning to end. Penn and Teller are as classey an act as your going to find for the money.

  • Great Entertainment

by plpfla on 2/6/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Was surprised how much we enjoyed the show. It's more of a "how to do magic" than a magic show. A lot of audience participation.

our seats were horrible. we had to stay twisted the entire performance. the performance was OK up until the last bit, the fire eater, when he talked nonsense for 15 minutes before eating the fire, which is old news to begin with.

  • Fantastic comedy and magic!

Although some of their tricks have been done by many magicians over many years, the special twist they give to everything they do makes each trick seem original and fresh.
