Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

  • Penn & Teller wasn't amazing :-(

Did not enjoy the show. Could not really tell what was going on because of our seats. Had no access to the big screen to even view what was going on. This show is great for audiences that are directly in front of the stage and for those that can view the big screen. Probably better to see them in Vegas. Saw them a while back (20+ years ago) and that was very memorable, this show unfortunately was not. My husband and I even dozed off for a few minutes.

  • It was live TV

Penn does the same patter that I have heard many time before. The tricks were all done many, many, many *shall I continue?) times before. The people around us enjoyed the show. It was enjoyable but the stuff has been played to death and this was better viewed via TV.

  • Mediocre

This was my first time seeing the duo live and I had a great time. Their show included a few stunts that they showed the audience how they worked which was rather unusual for a magic show. Most magicians avoid giving any information about how tricks are done. Overall it was a great show, I would definitely see them again!

Fun from the word go. Totally enjoyed ourselves. Last time we saw them in person was perhaps 15 years ago. We won't wait 15 years again

Loved it. They were funny and entertaining while performing their magic in amazing fashion. Very family friendly show and reasonable priced. I appreciated that they started on time and the fact they stayed afterwards for their fans to meet and greet was a class act.

  • not impressed

Much of their act was good but very understated. Not a very big production quality.

  • P & T- not so much

    by lemonlimetwist2 on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

Except for a few chuckles and a couple of wow's the evening was a total bore. Too much political rhetoric. Found the tv shows from the past much more exciting.

Not sure if this show was same as Vegas but think they toned it down because of all the children in the audience. They are very intertaining but show was short. Kept expecting something big and never really got it.

  • Magic That Rocks

I had the chance to see Penn & Teller live in Hollywood, FL their show was awesome, phenomenal, exciting and well worth it. I will definitely see them again locally or when in Vegas. Got to mee Penn after the show and he was very friendly, signed things and even got to take a picture with him. If you want to see the best in magic then this is it. I highly recommend you seeing this show.

  • Unforgettable!!!

by highlander411 on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Comedy + Magic = AMAZING! Seriously the coolest show my wife and I have ever seen. They do magic simular to street magic for a good portion of thier show but in a over the top finish like you wouldn't believe. Seriously, there were tricks them completed that we couldn't begin to believe were possible.

  • Penn & Teller @ Hard Rock Live

by drdrd on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

The event was excellent with a much more intimate feel. We were able to see and hear very well, and were amazed at some of the tricks they performed, right in front of us. There was no foul language, and much less emphasis on politics. However, everything Penn said about people who use these tools and skills to lie, cheat, and steal from less educated people was true. Teller's slight of hands was outstanding, but the best was watching the cups and balls trick with clear cups as Penn explained what they were doing. It was so fast, it still looked like magic! The best thing about these two is that they explain and educate their audience on how the tricks are being done, even explaining and demonstrating the rules of magic, but doing so amazingly that you are still entertained by their craftmanship.

Absolutely loved every minute of the show! Will see it again...

  • Clever and entertaining!

by Swimphin on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen Penn & Teller twice in concert and both times they were amazing. The show done in Vegas was better than the traveling show in Orlando. Both Penn & Teller are very humble and thankful for their audience. The tricks were not all the same- they explain just enough for you to start thinking about the trick and then they wow you!

  • Funny, Hip Magic-Comedy Show

    by AlexT1970 on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

A very enjoyable, engaging evening. A combo of magic, stories, and comedy, these guys are worth seeing. 90 minutes - and the time flew by. They explain how some of the tricks are done, which is very interesting and unique. Good for kids at least 10 years old.

  • Hilarity still exists!!!!!!!!!!

by Jeff4499 on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I had high expectations going to this show and they were surpassed. These guys are just funny, downright funny. In a world of second rate comics, these guys alone are funnier than most, and then throw in irreverant magic. You've got one hilarious night.
