Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

We've been longtime fans but were disappointed by the experience. TV monitors didn't help and having to rely on them for a magic show is ludicrous. The show seemed less kid-friendly than previously, one we brought fell asleep. We expected more from Penn & Teller.

They are always coming out with new tricks and funny jokes. It never gets old. I have seen this show before and was not bored for a minute. You never know what is going to happen when they involve people from the audience.

The show was a little shorter than I would have thought, but we had a great time and laughed all night. After the show, they both took the time to meet and greet all of their fans, sign autographs, take pictures, etc. They didn't rush anyone and really took their time talking to everyone there. It was wonderful!

We wasn't expected speech on the stage. Will be more interested if they stick with one category.

  • Penn & Teller are a MUST SEE!!!

by JaymesW on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Penn & Teller at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Theater in Hollywood, Florida. They were amazing! You see several fantastic magic acts, are entertained with their comedy and I was amazed that they explained several of their tricks to the audience. Both entertainers seem down to earth and stayed after the show to meet and greet anyone from the audience that wanted to stay. Very family friendly…

Penn & Teller put on an excellent show - but we were a little too far away to really, truly appreciate it. I would love to see the show again if I could get seats that were closer: I realize there are video screens, however if I want to watch a video screen, I will stay home and watch on television. Anyway, the screens don't really show the whole story of what is going on on stage. I think their show would be best in a smaller venue. In fact, I would probably be willing to pay more for the tickets in order to see them in a smaller venue.

Good seats but was disappointed in the show. Just bored through most of it. The audience particapation was the best part. Teller went on much too long with his explanations especially for his last illusion. Just boring and overpriced.

  • Penn and Teller Rock Out

by Shmer on 2/7/11Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

These guys have an excellent message. They combine the perfect level of comedy, illusion, and entertainment. They reveal some tricks and leave the others a mystery, but they make no bones about it that none are supernatural. They are all illusions and/or lies. The show is well worth the money.

  • Penn and Teller were great!

Excellent combination of comedy, magic, and social commentary. Great audience involvement. They show you how to do some tricks (but less than half), which was enlightening. I laughed out loud through the entire show. Safe for kids (Penn Gillette stated in an interview on a local radio station that they are opposite of most comedy performers -- Penn and Teller's stage shows are clean while their HBO etc cable shows are not (necessarily)). The closer you sit, the better, but monitors give you a good close up, especially of some of the magic and Teller's priceless facial expressions. If you like magic and comedy and they come to your area, don't miss them.

  • Penn & Teller = amazing!

Definitely glad I made it out to see Penn & Teller finally... always wanted to go see them at the Rio in Vegas but since they were visiting South Florida it was a no-brainer... the show was excellent, really cool and brilliantly executed magic tricks, along with some dialog about their beliefs about scam artists (psychics) and even some patriotism and respect for entertainers past

I have seen Penn and Teller before and they did not disappoint me, they were great. Their magic was wonderful and the humor was very funny.

EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE except for the 2 rude women sitting directly behind me who talked to each other during the entire show & made it difficult to hear Penn Gillette!!
