About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

The show was great, I love passion pit and Matt and Kim. But, I thought it was ridiculous that MSG would keep the venue open after a state of emergency and a blizzard!! LIRR trains had stopped running after 8pm as well as some NJTransit trains. The only reason I went in was because I love the bands and luckily have friends that I can crash with in the city. Unfortunately though, some people didn't have that option and had to miss the event and lose their tickets. Clearly, MSG doesn't think about their customers! So overall, the show was great but I will not be buying tickets to see a show at MSG again.

  • Talented! Energetic! Incredible!

Even in such a big venue passion pit and Matt & Kim did not miss a single thing! Every second was great!

Passion Pit is a band designed for music festivals. I would not go again to see them as the only headliner. I felt like I was listening to their CD in a large arena with a good sound system. I'm not sure he was even singing live. I had a great time because I was with a fun group of people. I'll probably never buy tickets to see them again unless they are part of a larger music festival type event. Still like their music, just not impressed w/ the live show.

Icona Pop, Matt and Kim, and Passion Pit all in one show = a delicious 3-layer cake :)

The show was amazing. everything about it was perfect. the light show along with it was spectacular as well. the opening acts of Icona Pop and Matt & Kim were great. a real good way to start the show. Then when Passion Pit came on the energy in the place was incredible, they were amazing live. I give them a 5 out of 5 for performance. I cannot wait until they tour by me again because I will definitely try and see them again and i recommend any fans of them to do so as well. well worth the money.

  • The most fun I've had at a concert in a long time!

by evapp on 2/10/13Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This show was amazing. In the middle of a massive blizzard NYC turned out for what is one of the most memorable concert experiences of my life. Passion pit doesn't need all the crazy costumes, extravagant scene changes, etc. Michael and his band are so incredibly talented that none of those distractions are needed. This band has overcome so much. It was so special to share this night with them!

Acoustics were not great but I believe it was for this show bc I have sat there before for other shows and it was fine. Time between sets was minimal which kept the flow of the show fast. Although the sound quality was not great I did have an amazing time!

Passion pit was amazing! So happy that they filled MSG. Such great dancing music and the lead singer was so thankful to be there, he was speechless. Love them!

  • General Admission Passion Pit, Matt & Kim!

by KimSta3 on 2/10/13Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was hands down the best concert I've ever been to. Waited in line in the snow for about 2 hours for General Admission, but it was so worth it and I would have waited even longer. We got front row center stage and I personally lifted Kim onto the barricade for her to crowd surf- insane. All three acts were incredible and Passion Pit and Michael Angelakos blew me away. FANTASTIC

  • Great Performances!

by Mo0411 on 2/10/13Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I had my doubts about Passion Pit. Their music is great..but its all auto-tune and a lot of it is computer based. Knowing that, I was skeptical of their performance skills. But it was a great show! First of all...those of us who were there know that we had the huge nor'easter. It was difficult to get to the Garden, and maybe they should have postponed. But they didn't, and I am glad I was able to go! Many weren't. There were a lot of empty seats and empty GA space. Icona Pop started off (and on time, to my dismay. I was late because of security and missed most of them) but they were great. Then came the real treat- Matt and Kim! This duo, whom I had the pleasure of seeing recently at Terminal 5, have an incredible energy and incredible stage performance! Kim walking on the audience's hands with her injured foot...they really set the stage for Passion Pit! Passion Pit was great too! Lots of energy, lots of lighting, and a great variety of songs from past to the new album. I love when the artists allow the audience to participate (by not singing the obvious lyrics and throwing the microphone in the direction of the audience) and there was plenty of that. Most of all, it was great that all three bands acknowledged the storm and thanked the audience for making it out in the crummy weather. Very gracious of them!

  • AWESOME

  • Passion PIt live was incredible!

by Anonymous on 2/10/13Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to a lot of concerts over the years but this was, in fact, my first at Madison Square Garden. The facility was amazing; clean, wide open, great people and drinks. As for the bands, there was such high energy despite the blizzard. Icona Pop, Matt and Kim and Passion Pit were perfect. Every song was enjoyable. Passion Pit live sounded the best, I've never been to a concert before where the band sounded like they do on their album; no distortion or singing off key, they were impeccable. Best concert ever.

  • Passion Pit was beyond amazing!

by Kayla26 on 2/10/13Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Well to start this out let me say that there was around a foot and a half of snow on the ground and it was still coming down when we left the concert. Roads were highly dangerous! However, it was still a sold out show! Matt & Kim were amazing! Great performers if you ask me! Highly entertaining! When passion pit came onto stage everyone roared! They sound exactly like what they do on their CD's! They also thanked us up and down for risking our lives to come out and see their show, but if you ask me, loyalty is always the number one quality in a huge fan! The crowd was really mixed age range wise! It was a great time, a great venue and the best night of my life. I do have to say though that the volume could had been a little louder and the ushers could have been more easy going as to where people sat! Overall a wonderful night, and I would make the trip from PA to NYC anytime again for them!
