We saw this on opening night. Prokofiev's epic score is perhaps the most moving symphonic piece written in the 20th century--you don't have to be a lover of classical music to enjoy it's drama and fireworks. I was surprised at first by the modern, somewhat minimalist set design, but thanks to inspired, dynamic lighting it was very effective and paired very well with the modern choreography, which was fascinating and often quite evocative. The quality of dancing and acting was top-notch. All in all an outstanding performance.
This is my second time attending this event. The musicians are phenomenal and the production and staging was amazing.
This show is great for a family holiday event. This last time, I sat right behind three excited young girls & their mother. The youngest two squirmed in their seats & swayed their arms along with the performers movements. It was by far the most entertaining viewing of The Nutcracker I've been to! The young boy that sat a few seats away was in awe during the fighting scenes & everyone was mesmerized by the dancing peacock. It's a great bonding experience & the performance accommodates just about every age group!
This was the first ballet my wife and I had even seen. We both LOVED the music and the ballet performance was amazing.
CB was excellent! A real spectacle of dance, color, music. Very exciting. More program notes to describe the content would be helpful. Apollo was excellent in the dancing, although some program notes to indicate the meaning and motives would be helpful.
I am not a fan of ballet; however, there was something about Don Quixote that I really wanted to see. I am so happy I did! The sets and choreography were spectacular, there was humor and drama to keep one involved, and the dancers were beautiful. The only complaint I have, and maybe coming from musical theater I am biased, is that the last 20-30 minutes of the last act was simply gratuitous dance for applause for the primary dancers.
The Nutcracker Ballet in Seattle was my first real ballet. It was nice. I went, but not sure I would go again. However, I would recommend it to a friend if they haven't seen the show yet.
The orchestra was phenomenal, but the lead dancers were too stoic.
It was my 6 yr old's first time to the ballet and she was enamoured by the performance. It brought tears to my eyes to see how happy she was. The costumes were fantastic and we loved the peacock the best! Thank you for a wonderful performance! We will be back!
I ejoyed all of the show and will tell others to take children of all ages to see this wonderful event.... Very nice way to enjoy the Holidays with family and friends...
Fabulous - as the radio commercial says - It was a very enriching experience.
It has been a few years since I have seen the Nutcracker and it is just as beautiful as I remember it. We had a wonderful time!
The ballet was amazing, the fairy godmother was beautiful and so was cinderella.
The kids were unbelievable and probably stole the show. Copelia is still my favorite.
My first ballet truly magical definitely on my list of regular things to do
I was a ballerina and I have seen multiple Nutcracker ballets.None of them can compare to this one.All I can say is AWESOME!!!!!
This event is so wonderful. The ballet dancers were light on thier feet, all smiles and just magically performed! I really enjoyed being there this season and I hope to continue the tradition each year.
The Christmas Eve performance is always worth going to. However some children may not be old enough to understand the altered performance. This was the best Christmas Eve performance we have been to.
Set design was well done. The rest was pretty flat. Lots of poor acting, so literal, I came to see ballet not a high school play. Music was pretty good too, but the performance did not match the score. The supposed finale was redundant, in a thinly veiled attempt to garner extra applause. Costumes could have been better.
