A wonderful production in a wonderful venue. The sets, the costumes the performers, all make for a memorable experience.
The performance was good. Set and costumes were spectacular. But it was like seeing a matinee of a newly released kids film. The loud audience, crying kids, and loud eaters and candy wrappers, etc. made it difficult to immerse oneself into the experience.
Excellent production of "The Nutcracker" ballet. The performers were outstanding and the visual scenery stunning. The music is exactly what we need to inspire the childlike wonder of Christmas in all of us. A wonderful performance!
First time seeing and loved it from beginning to end!
I was mesmerized! This whole performance almost brought me to tears. So captivating. The dancers were so talented, the sets were stunning. I would have liked a live orchestra but the music played back over their audio system was quite good. The fake falling snow was cute, but the machines that made it were seven times louder than the amount of "snow" they made - I would leave those turned off unless you can find quieter ones. Amazing show overall, I will be back to the Thousand Oaks Civic in the future for sure!
This show is always great, a true Holiday tradition. After weeks of Holiday crazy, it nice to enjoy a beautiful performance, with 100% chance of Snow. The story is classic, The dancing is amazing and the Nutcracker is Magical.
A beautiful performance! Exquisite dancers and costumes. A little bit too long for my 3 year old granddaughter, but they make up for it by all the performers greeting you in the lobby afterward! Hugging and pictures were priceless! FYI: you only get snowed on if you’re in the orchestra section.
Kim Maselli's Camelot was a feast for all the senses! The dancing was amazing and emotionally stirring, the costumes and sets were an extravaganza of light and color, the beautiful music carried the show like a magic carpet ride!
Camelot was incredible! The best ballet I have ever seen. The dancers were amazing. It is hard to believe Guinevere and most of the female dancers were students. The dancers all danced like professionals! There was so much to take in onstage-aerialists, gorgeous costumes, special effects, sword fighting, impressive and unique dance choreography, and original music. It was superb! We wish we could see it again!
A lively production with wonderful children and young adults in the cast. Scenery was lovely, adding to the story.
The show was wonderful. The stage and props were well done. The costumes were superb and full of color. The overall talent was younger than I thought it would be, but it was very nice to see so much young local talent. The two stars of the show had experience with a New York Ballet Co. and their performance after the intermission stood head and shoulders above everyone else. I’m sure they were a great inspiration for our young local talent. Highly recommend seeing any future shows by the Pacific Festival Ballet Co.
I had never seen The Nutcracker live, only on television. This production was fabulous. The dancers were so talented, the costumes were beautiful and the music perfect. It was an afternoon I'll never forget!
This was a good show. The sets were amazing and the dancers were great-especially the lead dancer. She was incredible. But...there was no live orchestra!! This is half the reason I love the ballet so much. I love the combination of a live orchestra with dance and costumes. It’s part of the experience. So to not have that, I really missed it.
Lovely show. Truly talented dancers! My eight year old daughter loved the Mary Poppins pieces. As this is presented with families in mind - would recommend an earlier starting time. Also - I understand the beauty of artistic expression, but the piece about school shootings frightened my daughter and we had to leave early. She had to sleep in my bed rather than in her own room that night. She is normally not a fearful child. This material might have been presented in a less graphic way - again, keeping in mind that a lot of children were in attendance. We otherwise absolutely loved the show and thank all of those involved!!!
Mary Poppins was perfect...excellent. The Kaldiscopes were talented and what they did was well performed, I just did not like the content. If I could rate the performances separately Mary Poppins would get 5 stars. This appeared to be a recital with many family and friends. So probably very few of us picked up the remaining tickets. I had my grand daughters with me and was not prepared for the startling political statement at the end with the gun shots and school violence. That ruined the whole affair. There should have been a disclaimer and we would have left after the first half.
I was thrilled to be able to revisit Sleeping Beauty with my 3 great nieces. Also, my daughter used to take dance from Laurie, Joyce and Kim and I was so happy that they have accomplished an incredible goal. The production was beyond professional, this including the dancing, the staging and the costumes
Fantastic. It was my 9 year old granddaughter's first live ballet (actually mine as well), and we loved it. I plan to take her to see the Nutcracker when it plays. HELPFUL HINT: Many folks brought their kids and grandkids....take their booster seat(s) with you into the theater if you want them to be able to see everything. This is especially true in the front rows if you want them to see the feet of the dancers...which is a big part of the dancer's art. It was also great that the some some dancers were out in front after the show to pose with the children. A wonderful day in all. Final note: The gift counter had sweatshirts for adults...clothing for kids would have been a good idea.
I bring my daughter & granddaughters every year. This year was another exceptional experience. Thank you
The nutcracker ballet is a tradition for my family. This year was no different and we chose to see the ballet at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza this year. It was our first time seeing the ballet at this venue and this company. The production company did an AMAZING job with their performance! They had very cute twist like the "cats" in the opening songs. The sugarplum fair did an incredible job.. one of the best choreographies and natural stage presence I have seen preforming this dance. The only thing I was sad about was the unfinished ending.. This production did not end the way it should have with Clara waking up from her "dream".. As for the Venu... I was very very very disappointed in them allowing late arrivals to continue to flood into the theater after the ballet had started... I paid good money for my seats and was not expecting to have my feet stomped on and the first 15-20 min of the ballet ruined by people still fining their seats.. This was incredibly disrespectful to the dancers who worked so hard to put on this show and to us who were there on time and paid good money for or seats!
I wanted to take my children to their first Nutcracker, but didn't feel up to the ABT price tag for good seats. This was an excellent option. The theatre was small with very good sight lines. We sat in the Founders Circle to the side, and even though my kids are small, we all had a perfect view of the stage. The performance was sweet with local dancers taking the smaller roles and professionals for the big showcase dances. It was a good first experience at the ballet for the kids and they loved that it actually snowed.
