over the rhine is an amazing group, i would recommend them to anyone.
Wow, a knockout performance by a very talented group! A great mix of songs with sounds from folk, blues, rock and country - even a little jazz mixed in. They've been out there for 20 years but have a terrific fresh sound. Go see these guys when you can!
This is my third time seeing Vienna Teng, the first seeing Over The Rhine, and my goodness, what a musical feast it was. Both acts are brilliant, original, geniuses. And it is obvious that performing their amazing songs, getting the audience involved and loving every minute, is why they do what they do. Aside from excellent music, they gave us laughter. I am, as always, especially in awe of Vienna Teng's friend/producer/jack of all trades Alex Wong, who picks up and tosses down musical instruments several times in each song. The only electrical trick he used is a simple looper, no flashing lights or stupid dance moves. This is true music. Vienna Teng is a virtuoso.
I had only heard one or two songs from Over The Rhine, on Pandora, and did not know what to expect. My wife and I went mostly because of the Vienna Teng headline, because we liked a couple of her songs. But then Over The Rhine came on, They totally blew us away! The husband and wife couple at the center of the group are earthy, spiritual, rocking, raunchy, and exquisite musicians. It was a great show and I would gladly see them every time they come to town, if we are lucky enough to see them again. Honestly this was the some of the best live music it has been my privilege to stumble upon.
incredible concert ! my husband said its one of top 5 concerts ever and we go to a lot of concerts! it was such a beautiful night and they made it absolutely incredible! Very memorable!
The Over the Rhine concert on Friday night at Coney Island was proof of the group's appeal to all ages. Young and Old sang, swayed, clapped, and cat-whistled in appreciation of a wide range of songs. Besides being exceptionally talented, whether they are playing piano, guitar, or singing, Karin and Linford make the crowd feel personally involved in the performance. People around us were asking why this group isn't more well-known nationally. Thanks for a great evening!
This was our second opportuntiy to experience Over The Rhine at Moonlite Gardens, and once agaion the experience was exceptional. We took 2 friends, so there are now 2 new OTR fans. Looking forward to more concerts in different venues.
A great show at a great venue. Over the Rhine amazed me yet again. They seemed to be in a great mood and happy to be back in Cincinnati and it showed in their music. I love Kim Taylor too, so her guest appearance made the show even better.
I bought these tickets for my girlfriend as a present. I am a rock head but I really enjoyed the intimate feel and mellow mood. They were great musicians and she has a very soulful voice. Moonlight gardens is a great place to see a band like this but they need to ensure more seating. We had to sit on the steps but it was still a very good place to watch the show.
Over the Rhine has once again provided their wildly diverse audience with another night if fabulous music. Moonlight Gardens and Cincinnati in general are strong venues for OTR. Each event is a warm homecoming. This concert was more melancholy than most, but given the date, September 11, it was an understandable choice for the band. Their playlist comprised of selections from their last 3 albums.
The venue, for starters, was amazing. It was very intimate and quaint, but had a nice ambiance. Drinks were kind of expensive, but I find that everywhere these days. The interaction with the crowd was awesome. I really appreciated their sharing of their lives, if only a little. My biggest complaint would be that the show started about 40 minutes late, and since there was another show on afterwards, they had to stop playing.
The Over the Rhine concert the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill was amazing! The venue was just the right size, small and intimate and it really highlighted the band's unbelievable talent. OtR played a great mix of their old and new songs and connected really well with the audience. I would most definitely recommend this show to friends.
Linford, Karen and the gang really just get better all the time. This show was a little different than the others I've been to-they were a little more laid back and relaxed, played a more mellow set and really added a lot of newness to what they played. The Bluebird was perfect for this. I've been an OtR fan for years and go see them every chance I get! I would definitely come see them at The Bluebird again.
Great show. So many songs so little time (missed some of our favorites). Light hearted, sassy and stylish. They put class in the Blues. All solos were excellent. New album was covered to our delight. Only problem - too hot and cramped in the Duc k Room.
Although the duck room became a bit stifling as the evening wore on, the show was well worth it. Over the Rhine didn't just play their songs, they re-crafted songs and made them into showpieces. Linford's songwriting and Karen's singing have both developed by leaps and bounds since I heard them 5 or 6 years ago. I think the greatest recommendation is that two friends who'd never heard them before thoroughly enjoyed the show and want to pick up more of their music.
The concert for OTR at Cain Park in Cleveland Heights, OH was the best concert I have ever attended. The band was amazing, as always, but with the addition of Kenny Hudson and Kim Taylor this was a truly magical night. OTR shines on a normal night, but this was a brilliant performance. Karin and Linford were their normal whimsical themselves, but without a new album to praise they played songs from 15 years ago--awesome. They have so many great songs and they played them all. I cannot say enough, I have seen them 10 times in the past, yet this was my favorite performance hands down!!!!!
Not only did we get to see Over the Rhine in concert, and not only was it in a beautiful venue - Cain Park, but I got to meet Linford! It was a most memorable evening.
The band was superb. The venue was tranquil. Overall it was a night to remember!
Pop music doesn't get more beautiful or transcendant.... Karin was feeling especially energized and she put out a top performance. The sound was great and the venue beautiful and comfortable. And when December comes, the Kent Stage, a comfortable indoor venue with great sound, will be another ideal spot to see them.
Over the Rhine just freaking rocks. They know how to create a unique sound full of artistic sensibilities and with an ethereal quality few can entertain. And they're accessible to so many tastes at the same time.
