About

Orville Peck on Tour

Mysterious cowboy rocker Orville Peck and his band perform a theatrical version of vintage country music: Sequins, fringe, big hats and the singer's trademark masks, which obscure his face both on stage and off. It's no staid night at the saloon - his backing players are Toronto post-punk band the Frigs, and Peck performs his nocturnal, road-worn songs with bravado. After touring alongside indie-folkers Lord Huron in the beginning of 2019, Peck set off for months of headlining shows in America, Canada and Europe. His festival bookings include Austin City Limits, London's Visions Festival, Washington's Thing, North Carolina's Hopscotch, Nashville's AmericanaFest, Norway's Oya, Sweden's Way Out West, Texas' Trans-Pecos, Pitchfork Paris and Iceland Airwaves.

Orville Peck in Concert

Who is that masked man? Enigmatic troubadour and outlaw country sensation Orville Peck emerged in 2017, a Canadian cowboy who's part rodeo, part Twin Peaks. Though he prefers to keep his identity a riddle - photographed and performing exclusively in one of his fringed masks - Peck has admitted he's played in punk bands in the past, and was a fan of Johnny Cash, X and Neil Young. Released in 2017, his debut single "Dead of Night" was a twilight pick-up truck drive through 1950s twang, '90s dream pop and contemporary indie rock. He promptly signed to esteemed independent label Sub Pop, which released his 12-song debut album, Pony, in 2019. Painting himself as "psychedelic outlaw cowboy" who "croons love and loss from the badlands of North America," Peck sings deeply personal stories and songs under haunting, nostalgic reverb. His debut made an impact thanks to its gauzy textures, vivid storytelling and queer narratives that subvert country masculinity. It made such a splash that Pony ended up on the long list for the Polaris Prize less than two months after its release.

    Absolutely fantastic

I fell in love with Orville Peck the first time I heard him on the CBC. My husband and I downloaded his album straight away and listened to him for the next months. Seeing him live was incredible. His silky tones and showmanship were perfect. The audience was great. We bought the vinyl and shirts. Can't wait to hear his next album and we will see him again next time in town. He has a real knack for lyrical storytelling.

One of the best shows I have seen

    by Danielle on 3/15/20Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

This was one of the best shows that I have seen. Orville's singing is incredibly powerful in person. He sounded like he didn't even need the microphone. The whole band sounded tight and interacted well with each other. Everyone's moves and energy were also fantastic.

Orville was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended

    by AChatt on 3/13/20Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

The venue's search process is horrible. I had no contraband and am elderly and was treated like absolute shit. Will never go back to that venue, no matter who plays. And I've been there at least 50 times before. NEVER again!

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

by Twig on Blade on 12/8/19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

We really didn't know what to expect, having only heard Pony but never seeing Orville play live. But he did not disappoint with his performance. He played many of the songs off of his album plus a couple of covers, as well as surprising everyone with a brand new song. His band was awesome, doing justice to all of the songs. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the show, though, wasn't even the music, but the character Orville proved to possess. Totally down to earth, a true showman without any pretense whatsoever. We felt valued, as though he really cared about us and wanted to put on the best show possible. It was one of the best shows we've ever seen and can't wait to see him again!

    Peck fan!!

by Nan on 10/29/19The Foundry - Philadelphia

Loved this small venue, the Foundry, to see such an exciting talent. Orville Peck's influences create a unique blend of music. Just gets better and better. Wondered why the doors, first and main acts delayed by an hour. Why no announcements made.
