a great night of Queen at the opera

by ashflat on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Opening with "Tie Your Mother Down", the set was a reading of Queen's greatest hits, with a few songs thrown in that never got played live ("Innuendo"). The band did a wonderful job, all excellent musicians. Each band member played their parts correctly but also gave their parts a personal tweak, so it wasn't like listening to the CD's. Gary is amazing in his portrayal of Freddie Mercury. Just scary. His vocals were spot on, and His interaction with the crowd made the State Fair Music Hall more intimate and friendly. I would go see them again.

One Night of Queen - A Blast

by dancingdean on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

This was a really fun concert. You would think it was actually Queen if you didn't know better. Gary and the band perform with lots of energy. Of course, the Queen material is good music. The lighting effects are nice and Gary puts a lot of showmanship into the act. My wife and I had a great time.

    AMAZING!!!

by superotterman on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I booked the tickets as a surprise date and I could not have made a better decision. "Freddy Mercury" sounded amazing, and made it feel like a Queen concert. Their guitarist was one of the best I've seen (and I'm a guitarist!). All in all, a fantastic show, and I'd go again in a heartbeat.

    Gary Mullen is AMAZING

by xtineee on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

My boyfriend and I are 22year old Queen fans. Ticket Master sent me a 50% offer code to see "One Night of Queen" in Dallas. I didn't even know that Gary Mullen and The Works were going to play in Texas, let alone be only a 45minute's drive from me! The venue itself was already pretty great (Music Hall at Fair Park) - the staff were very helpful and friendly - the crowd seemed to be a good mix of older fans, fans my own age, and families. Gary Mullen has such a great energy and this beautiful, amazing, bellowing voice! To me, he was the spinning image of Freddie Mercury (R.I.P) and The Works are so musically talented and everything just meshed together so well. The lighting and effects added more life to the already energized performance and the sound was very clear and resonating. At the end of the night, everyone was standing up, singing, dancing, and clapping. I cried when "You're My Best Friend" was sung and laughed a lot when Gary Mullen would do/say something silly. My boyfriend and I had the most amazing time and everything felt so surreal. The only thing that would make it better, was if it had been Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen --- but Gary Mullen and The Works are like the musical doppelganger of them :)

    Great Band....Audience Lacking

by Dallas37 on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

The band was great. I am a big Queen fan and I have to say the songs were done very well. "Freddy" was perfect and fit the bill for sure! They kept to rather high energy songs and the performance was more than worth it. My only complaint is not with the band at all...in fact, the band, the performance, the entire show included the audience..."Freddy" actually talked to us and encouraged lots of standing and participation...but the audience was lacking. I know it was an "older" crowd.....but if you are young enough to come to a concert, get up and participate, get excited....get into it. I was worried the first 30 minutes that I was blocking the people's view behind me, as they refused to stand up....they finally got the idea and reluctantly joined. I think maybe a smaller venue, where the audience HAS to participate and get excited might work better. The BAND WAS AMAZING...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!

    Don't Miss This!!!

One of the best concerts that I have seen in a long time. Gary and the band were A++. If they come to Dallas again I will be front and center.

    Must See For Queen Fans

by Mickeydb on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Most of us didn't get a chance to see Queen perform live. Well, this is the next best thing. The crowd was really into it; the lights and sound were great, and all the big hits were played. These are first class musicians and not some cheesy cover band. Gary had Freddy Mercury down pat. Great time.

One Night of Queen was Interesting

by elephantsrule on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

The lead singer had an incredible voice, but just looked a bit odd in the leotard outfit. Let's just say he's no Freddie Mercury, but who is? The musicians behind him were absolutely phenomenal and worth listening to, but they played several songs which were Queen recordings such as in Bohemian Rhapsody I supposed because those sections of songs were not doable in their range and ability to harmonize as the lead singer did all the singing. It was entertaining, but not sure it was worth the $60+ a ticket paid for it. He never changed outfits, just kept coming out with less and less on, a bit creepy. All in all, I had a good time, but would not go again if I saw them on the concert line-up.

    Gary Mullen never disappoints

by HollywoodHarrah on 3/29/11Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Given that I am too young to have truly appreciated Queen in its hayday, and the fact that even Brian May from Queen heralds this group as "so refined in their show, that I lose track that its not us up there playing", that One Night of Queen is incredible. I have seen them twice now and this show I was able to recruit twice as many friends to go. Everyone was up and dancing, clapping and singing along. A definite trip back in time to see a great performance by some very talented musicians.

    THE BEST!!!

by mrsandyq on 3/22/11Fox Theatre - Riverside

I never got the chance to see Queen live when Freddie was alive. I feel that I was very close to that experience at this show. The band is brilliant and Gary is as close to Freddie Mercury, vocally, as you can get! A MUST SEE SHOW for any Queen / Classic Rock fan! Amazing! TEN STARS!

by ichbinthor on 3/18/11The Rialto - Rockford

I saw them a year ago in Rockford, Illinois. It was nothing short of amazing! The world greatly misses Freddie and this is as close as anyone can come to sounding like him! Rock on Gary!

    Consider me a Killer Queen

by MWSfollower on 3/15/11Fox Performing Arts Center - RIVERSIDE

I've always regreted not seeing Queen in person; so if this is the closest way to experience it; then I'm all for it. No need to sit on the floor seats, my seat was 1st-Row Mezzanine Seat 116 Row AA and it was perfect in everything. You could see and experience it all. I'm there the next time they come to town

    Queen resurrected!

by Ipomoea on 3/14/11Fox Performing Arts Center - RIVERSIDE

This was as close to Freddie Mercury and Queen as you can get! It was fantastic! I loved every minute! Gary Mullen has Freddie's stage moves down perfectly. And his voice was fantastic. This is as close to seeing Freddie and Queen as you'll ever get unless you watch Queen's old recorded performances. The audience ranged from very young to very old and everyone was dancing in their seats.
