OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW
RETURN TO AUSTRALIA IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
PERFORMING “BLONDE ON BLONDE”
WITH SPECIAL GUEST VALERIE JUNE
Acclaimed Statesiders OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW will return to Australia for the first time in eight years to play a string of East Coast dates this September and October, in addition to their already-announced performance at the Caloundra Music Festival. On their Australian shows, Old Crow Medicine Show will pay tribute to their music icon, Bob Dylan, by playing his seminal 1966 album, Blonde On Blonde, in full.
Hailing from the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphian and fellow Tennessean VALERIE JUNE, who has shared the stage with the likes of Sharon Jones, Sturgill Simpson, Jake Bugg and more, will join Old Crow Medicine Show on their Australian run, rounding out an authentic ‘Taste of Americana’ double-bill for local audiences.
Old Crow Medicine Show and the beguiling Valerie June promise to deliver a night of authentic Tennessee tunes when they touch down in Australia later this year, traversing country, blues, roots and more, with a little bit of soul and gospel thrown in for good measure.

Koka Booth amphitheater is the best place to see live music in the Raleigh, Cary area. This is the first time I have ever seen the old crow medicine show and they blew me away. The sound was perfect and seemed to play all my favorite tunes. I will definitely be catching them again when they come back to town.
The venue was clean and beautiful and on a hot August Carolina day is was nice to have some shade. Not only did Old Crow play, but they also played with their opening acts. I've been to three Old Crow Shows in the Southeast, and this was by far the best show!
Awesome performance would highly recommend. I liked the sweet tooth song thought it was cute and the Wagon Wheel song was the biggest hit naturally since this was practically a Raleigh show. I liked the Koka Booth Amphitheatre very much and the show was awesome even with the opressive heat wave Raleigh is currently experiencing...
Great show, the best moments came from the epic jams involving all players from the various groups. Couldn't have been better. Sound quality was great.
I went to the show to see Old Crow and hadn't really heard of the other bands, but I came out not being able to pick my favorite act of the night! No sub-par opening acts--they were all the real deal. The show was fun and there was great music the entire time. Everyone on stage seemed to be having a blast.
Great concert! I've seldom seen entertainers who have this much fun performing. The concert was a great value - it lasted nearly 4 hours and the music was really good.
OK, it's a small sample. The only other concert I've seen recently was the much hyped Dylan concert at DBAP.There Mellencamp was surprisingly great, Willie was Willie, and Dylan was terrible. Last night's concert was different. The two opening acts were good, but the real excitement started with the Dave Rawlings machine. I was happy to see Rawlings get top billing for a change. He's an incredibly talented guitarist and vocalist who has lived in the shadow of his long time musical partner, the equally talented Gillian Welch. Gillian was here as well, and did great work with her harmonies(their voices not surprisingly work well together). Covers of Dylan and Neil Young made excellent use of guitar and organ. Old Crow stole the show, though. They made inspired use of musicians from the other bands Old time to rockabilly, we were dancing in the ailses. I wanted to stop time during Wagon Wheel.
Old Crow Medicine Show was a great show! I enjoy bluegrass, but I'm not a die hard of the genre nor the band (the only song I know well is Wagon Wheel). Still, they put on a great show. The numbers with several acts playing together were a lot of fun. If you enjoy bluegrass or live music in general, this is a great show.
This concert was awesome. The Koka Booth Amphitheatre is a great place to see a concert. It is small enough so that you can view the stage from almost anywhere and set in the woods with a lake view. All of the bands were very good and it was a nice night out to hear some great music!
Overall, terrific show. OCMS just gets tighter and tighter and backing their own openers was a novel idea and greatly enhanced the opening acts. I'm not a Fleece Bros. fan, so that was not my favorite part, but all in all, really good show in a really nice place.
Great concert, but I would have liked to heard more from David Rawlings. . .
wonderful venue, super talented musicians, quite an event...
It was hot in every way!!! Old Crowe was as hot as could be. I don't know how they kept it up in that heat but they were awesome. Gilliam Welch and Dave Rallings were equally impressive. Their version of I Hear Them All was fantastic. Secor and Watson are not just fantastic musicians but incredible poets. You have to listen to the words. Sorry they didn't do My Next Go Round or I Hate to See the Evening Sun Go Down.
I was very anxious to see old crow medicine show since this would be the first time i would have seen them live, and I was wondering if they would sound good live. I had not heard of any of the other artists on the tour, however, they did not disappoint at all!! Justin Townes Earle was amazing, and as soon as his set was done, I rushed to buy one of his CD's. The Felice brothers were also amazing, and during all the sets, there were other members from all the other bands on stage to help play their songs, which i thought was very cool. I have never seen 15 people on stage at one time and be able to make such beautiful music as i did at the show. The big surprise tour was just what it is entitled, A BIG SURPRISE. I was not let down by any of the bands, and it was one of the greatest concerts I have been to in a long while.
Great Performers (especially David Rawlings, Gillian Welch and Old Crow Medicine Show). Very talented individuals that moved in and out of different band configurations without compromise. We Want More!!!
the best convert i've ever been too.. and cary's booth amphitheatre is a very nice place to see a concert.. being right in the front really made it that much better..
It was the hottest day so far in North Carolina and not exactly the type of weather you want to do anything in but sit in AC with a cold drink. With that in mind OCMS and all the other guys (& gal) brought everything to the table. They had everyone singing along and dancing as much as anyone can when its that warm outside. They put on an amazing show and one I'm not about to forget anytime soon.
I didn't get to see Justin Townes Earle, because we were running late. But, the venue was beautiful and clean, and we had no problem finding a spot on the lawn for our chairsl The Felice Brothers rocked it out! I purchased 2 of their cds at the merch table based on their performance alone. Would have loved to hear a little more of Gillian Welch's older stuff, but "Look at Miss Ohio", joined by the boys from Old Crow, the Felice Brothers and Justin Townes Earle, along with David Rawlings was amazing. Of course, Old Crow did it up right with Wagon Wheel, Tennessee Pusher and that song about cocaine and corn liquor. For about half of their set, they were joined by the other bands on tour with them. At one point, there 15 musicians on stage. Awesome! The encore was a brilliant cover of the Travelling Willbury's classic "End of the Line."
Koka Booth, Cary NC Big Surprise Tour review... First off I love Old Crow Medicine Show and have all their CD's!! However, I am a little bit let down from their concert. First of all the opening band," Felice Brothers" lead singer MUST be tone deaf. They were pretty horrible the 2 1/2 hours they were on.. It almost made me want to leave to go to the bar so I didn't have to pay 6 bucks each for a Budweiser... I didn't though because I was really hoping that OCMS could turn the concert around. My other 3 friends felt the same way. Well OCMS, the whole band didn't even come on to stage until 8:45. They played some good songs during the show no doubt, Wagon Wheel being the best! They did miss some good ones too... I was really hoping to hear some James River Blues. Another downside is that they were done by 10pm.. So for the $45 dollars I spent on tickets, actually 90 with the girlfriend I only got to see them play for an hour and 15 minutes... Pretty disappointing! It was worth seeing them in concert once but I won't go see them again unless its just THEM playing. I will just stick to my CD's, they sound better anyways...
