OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW

RETURN TO AUSTRALIA IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

PERFORMING “BLONDE ON BLONDE”

WITH SPECIAL GUEST VALERIE JUNE

Acclaimed Statesiders OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW will return to Australia for the first time in eight years to play a string of East Coast dates this September and October, in addition to their already-announced performance at the Caloundra Music Festival. On their Australian shows, Old Crow Medicine Show will pay tribute to their music icon, Bob Dylan, by playing his seminal 1966 album, Blonde On Blonde, in full.

Hailing from the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphian and fellow Tennessean VALERIE JUNE, who has shared the stage with the likes of Sharon Jones, Sturgill Simpson, Jake Bugg and more, will join Old Crow Medicine Show on their Australian run, rounding out an authentic ‘Taste of Americana’ double-bill for local audiences.

Old Crow Medicine Show and the beguiling Valerie June promise to deliver a night of authentic Tennessee tunes when they touch down in Australia later this year, traversing country, blues, roots and more, with a little bit of soul and gospel thrown in for good measure.

The entire "Surprise Tour" was unforgettable - amazing. The stage was filled with talented musicians and showmen (and woman) who more than gave us a night to remember. Remarkable.

  • see half the concert!

David Rawlings, Gillian Welch and Old Crow were outstanding. They need to dump the rest of the show and do all of it themselves. The "youngsters" who opened for them and made a nuisance of them selves at times on the stage were not what I went to hear. The Old Crows and Welch/ Rawlings were wonderful. They did all the best songs and we could have listened to them all night! Lots of spontaneity - I highly recommend the second half of the evening.

It was a little slow in the beginning, but then after the first 90 minutes it rocked the house with awesome Americana and I think that OCMS is my fav. band ever. They are awesome.

the show was great! would definitely go see o.c.m.s., david rawlings, and gillian welch anytime. the opening band was good but their set should have been a lot shorter. they were a little out of place.

  • Why did I buy tickets to see OCMS?

by Poomkin on 8/5/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 1 out of 5

We have been fans of Old Crow Medicine Show for years, have been to see them several times and each time had an incredible experience, so you can imagine our surprise when we were accosted by the cacophony that emanated from the stage as the Felice Brothers held us hostage for almost two hours before Gillian Welch came on rescue us. Justin Townes Earl was very enjoyable and made the first half hour of the show the perfect segue for the same type of bluegrass melodies that we had come to expect from OCMS. Gillian Welch, with her beautiful voice, was also an act worth paying to see. However, the band that ruined the entire evening and seemed hellbent on not relinquishing the stage to the more talented musicians waiting in the wings were the questionably talented Felice Brothers. They didn't seem capable of being able to stick to a genre long enough to complete a song. One band member had all the makings of Jack Black's character in School of Rock, you know, the guy who kept jumping around the stage and bumping into his bandmates, much to their annoyance. I began anticipating him being thrown off the stage. MUCH TO OUR DISAPPOINTMENT, we left early, before OCMS even took the stage, we were beginning to doubt that they ever would. Again, we have been huge fans for years, have all the CDs, know all the lyrics, and have fond memories of watching these INCREDIBLY talented young men give a performance that left you feeling as though you had just witnessed the reason why these instruments were created. But not just that, you knew they truly loved to entertain, putting on a good show was what it was all about. I am happy I have those memories to keep with me, I hold out hope that next year they will tour alone.

As usual OCMS rocked it hard. Can't get enough of their new album. See you at the Beacon show too!
