OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW
RETURN TO AUSTRALIA IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
PERFORMING “BLONDE ON BLONDE”
WITH SPECIAL GUEST VALERIE JUNE
Acclaimed Statesiders OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW will return to Australia for the first time in eight years to play a string of East Coast dates this September and October, in addition to their already-announced performance at the Caloundra Music Festival. On their Australian shows, Old Crow Medicine Show will pay tribute to their music icon, Bob Dylan, by playing his seminal 1966 album, Blonde On Blonde, in full.
Hailing from the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphian and fellow Tennessean VALERIE JUNE, who has shared the stage with the likes of Sharon Jones, Sturgill Simpson, Jake Bugg and more, will join Old Crow Medicine Show on their Australian run, rounding out an authentic ‘Taste of Americana’ double-bill for local audiences.
Old Crow Medicine Show and the beguiling Valerie June promise to deliver a night of authentic Tennessee tunes when they touch down in Australia later this year, traversing country, blues, roots and more, with a little bit of soul and gospel thrown in for good measure.

rain or not they made the best of a bad situation and its was one of the better shows i have seen.
My husband and I went to there concert August 28th, 2009 at Huntington, WV and it was truly the best show ever. We loved every minute of it. They put on an amazing performance. We want to see them again. I would reccommend anyone to get tickets to there concerts. OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW IS AWESOME. They can play some instruments and very skilled at it. Great Music!!!! We love it If you like Bluegrass Music this is the group to see.
I had a blast watching Old Crow with all my friends last night! It started raining but everybody stayed anyway and they played all my favorite songs. The riverfront park was the perfect place for the concert! I look forward to seeing Old Crow again in the near future!
What a great compilation of artists! So glad I got to see the Felice Brothers - they are so fun live and I will definitely check them out again at ACL. Levon was also amazing as one may expect! Iron & Wine-- beautiful music. OCMS brought a great end to the night, and it was amazing to see Wagon Wheel live. All in all, great experience.
The show was awesome!!! They were so good. This was my first time seeing them and I absolutely Loved it!!!! Can't wait to see them again!!!
Was a great show, with several great acts! very well run!
To many bands before the headliner. Plus no encore. Other than that Old Crow was great. h
Came with my brother, sister-in-law and niece to see Levon Helm and Iron & Wine. Hadn't heard of the Felice Brothers or Grace Potter. Was really impressed with the line up and the performances.
The Felice Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show were awesome. Both bands showed a lot of energy and made the crowd rock!
Old Crow Medicine Show, and Levon Helm with the Helm Family Band were fabulous, as one would expect. Grace Potter is a great entertainer, but her songs all sound similar, to me. The other 2 acts were not very impressive.
Great set of bands! Very fun! Introduced to new music which is always exciting.
A summer afternoon well spent! Enjoyed the mix of music.
I purchased my tickets solely for OCMS, and my only complaint was the wait (they appeared last) but was not disappointed by any of the other performers. Not having heard much of Iron & wine or the Felice Brothers, both were a pleasant surprise, as was Justin Jones, the only local act. Grace Potter put on a hell of a show, and while it would have been nice to have a bit more of Levon Helm in Levon Helm- he couldn't sing (dr.s orders) the music was still fine. Even after 7 hours, OCMS was still worth the wait. The energy they play with and the response they get from the audience is enough to revive the dead. They played a balanced mix of earlier releases and later stuff, and finished with Wagon Wheel. Could not have been finer. Five bands, seven hours of music, could not have been finer.
We went to the Route 29 show yesterday and had an amazing time. Our seats could not have been any better, only 3 rows from stage dead center. We were surprised at how good the opening bands were and we enjoyed them so much I will downloading their music today. Seeing Levon Helm was truly a great experience and you could see in his face how much he enjoyed playing music. Old Crow was by far the best part of the day. I have seen them many times before but never at such a big venue. The put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. So full of energy!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Route 29 Revue and was very excited to see a few of the bands. I had seen Iron & Wine before, but I was happy to see him again because he is such an amazing performer. Old Crow Medicine Show really topped off the night and I thought the crowd's reaction to their performance (and Levon Helm's as well) made for a really exciting environment. I would definitely go again next summer if there was another event like this! Although I may not buy lawn tickets again because it was so hot!
Great mix of music, $45 for 8 hours of music, a good deal!
I went to the concert specifically to see Grace Potter. Since Brian Dondero left the Nocturnals a few months ago and new musicians were added, I was leery of changes . Two years ago when I first heard Grace in person, I was transfixed, yet perplexed as to why her performances seemed to be cautious and reserved at times (she spent a lot of time behind the keyboard) because her voice is without parallel for her musical genre. My perception was that she should increase her visibility, move beyond the role of lead singer who is also a member of the band, thus upping the energy ante for the band's performance. Happily, the transformation has been made and GPN has matured. Grace is now center stage, right where she belongs. During the whole show her alluring persona foxed and danced among the band as her voice blew away any doubts of her stardom. Traditional Potter favorites, "Big White Gate," "Joey," "Some Kind of Ride," "Ah, Mary," and "Nothing But the Water," were fantastic as usual. For me, to hear "Mastermind" in person for the first time (I've seen my share of Grace shows) was a treat. But, the finale was the moment! Knowing Grace's affection for the roots of modern R 'n R, her tribute to Grace Slick and the Airplane with "White Rabbit" (Woodstock anniversary, of course!) made the whole show for me. It was as good as that other Grace ever sang it and I'm old enough to remember her, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, and the late Koko Taylor! Grace is right there with them in talent and charisma. The show was a delight! Her next move should be to drop "Nocturnals" off the group's name and just call it what it is: "The Grace Potter Band." It's hers, pure and simple.
I thought that this was a really great package of music. The sound quality was very good, the mix of bands was balanced and rootsy which I love. I was disappointed that there were not more people at the show - saw lots of empty seats in the pavilion and lots of space in the lawn. I wish that Merriweather would open up the pavilion to the fans in the lawn since there was so many unsold tickets. I am sure that the bands would have appreciated seeing their fans much more up close. Something to consider for the future. I had great seats near the stage and spent time on the lawn. Lots of fun dancing and grooving. The Felice Brothers kicked major hiney!! Grace Potter rocked OUT, Levon Helm band was a party to my ears and Old Crow never fails to shine. I only wish the Avett Brothers were part of the show!!! Please bring back tours like this every year!!!
How inspiring to hear young musicians taking bedrock American musical threads and creating fantastic new tapestries of sound! The cherry on the sundae was Levon Helm, the ultimate Master of Americana. One minor quibble: nowhere was the set list (or timeframe, other than the 3:30 kickoff) given in the advertisements for the show. It would have been nice to know in advance.
The day was pretty low quality musically EXCEPT for the AMAZINg FABULOUS TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT ULTRA PROFESSIONAL LEVON HELM BAND---the sound was great for this band-their show was top notch-playing what I expect at a concert---the rest somewhat boring, bad sound quality, not much really happening musically, messy artistically lazy---etc BUT LEVON's band made it well worth the trip----I would recommned seeing this band anywhere for any price--sensational!
