OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW

RETURN TO AUSTRALIA IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

PERFORMING “BLONDE ON BLONDE”

WITH SPECIAL GUEST VALERIE JUNE

Acclaimed Statesiders OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW will return to Australia for the first time in eight years to play a string of East Coast dates this September and October, in addition to their already-announced performance at the Caloundra Music Festival. On their Australian shows, Old Crow Medicine Show will pay tribute to their music icon, Bob Dylan, by playing his seminal 1966 album, Blonde On Blonde, in full.

Hailing from the Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphian and fellow Tennessean VALERIE JUNE, who has shared the stage with the likes of Sharon Jones, Sturgill Simpson, Jake Bugg and more, will join Old Crow Medicine Show on their Australian run, rounding out an authentic ‘Taste of Americana’ double-bill for local audiences.

Old Crow Medicine Show and the beguiling Valerie June promise to deliver a night of authentic Tennessee tunes when they touch down in Australia later this year, traversing country, blues, roots and more, with a little bit of soul and gospel thrown in for good measure.

  • Talented musicians... Hackneyed Sound Technicians.

by Snackership on 10/16/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

OCMS have a fun time on stage and draw the audience in with their music and antics. The fiddle is not to be missed and the bands lyrics are a unique mix of American folk and contemporary subjects. The atmosphere the songs create are reminiscent of Pete Seger. That said, why do sound technicians feel the need to turn the volume to '11' all the time?! I noticed starting in the late 90's, the sound at concerts seemed to only need be loud. I wish I could attend a concert where the sound was balanced and I could hear all of the layers of performance... not just the bass line or the distortion.

  • Old Crow Medicine Show was electric

by Olykanobe on 10/13/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I have never felt anticipation and crowd energy like that, ever....The entire crowd was excited to be there and just ready to have a good time and cut loose for the OCMS. Boot stomping, people bouncing, singing along.....It was electrifying the first time the fiddle led into the bass and the crowd just cut loose. I think that there was a lot of energy to be harnessed in that crowd and though I felt like they played a great show the full potential wasn't acheived for a few reasons. 1. show not starting on time. 2. the break in the middle that seemed to happen right after it started. A real downer that took all momentum out of the show. That was my biggest downer. 3. the sound was a little light. I think if the sound could have come up just a hair, it would have been perfect. The dialogue on stage, for example, was lost on the crowd because it just wasn't loud enough. this would have been a 5 star show for me without these. BUT I will say it was the best show I've seen at the Crystal Ballroom in terms of the music just being on point and the crowd just being on fire. I'll go again and let's bring in a little opener!

  • Old Crow Medicine Show

by Gwynn on 10/8/09McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Old Crow Medicine Show. They are incredible musicians as well as fantastic performers. They're energy level is over the top and the sense that they are having a great time performing is evident. It seems they are well loved since on a number of songs the crowd was singing along. Their American roots style of music is at the same time familiar and yet unique. What a refreshing experience.!

  • Not what I was expecting!

  • Them boys can quit their day jobs

by keithlag9 on 10/1/09John Anson Ford - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

It's great to know that in a time where bad acts like Britney Spears are selling out arenas groups like OCMS can still fight their way through. They were outstanding from the minute they started to tune. I'm relatively new to the group so I don't know all of their names yet but the fiddle/harmonica/banjo/keyboard playin maniac is a true genius. The only drawbacks to the night were that it was a Tuesday night and that there were seats unsold (maybe not mutually exclusive of one another) CALIFORNIA!! if you wern't there YOU MISSED IT!!! If they ever play Gurene Hall in Texas or the Ryman in Nashville I would fly there just for the show. Them people don't care what day it is! Thanks guys hurry back!

  • Best Show Ever!

by janya on 10/1/09John Anson Ford - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I had an amazing time at the concert. The venue was really intimate only enhanced by the energy and musical prowess that was shown by both the opening band and old crow. They played all of my favorite songs and the energy from the band was infectious. They were interactive with the audience which enhanced the experience exponentially from their amazing musical ability. One of my favorite parts was that the band switched instruments for almost every song. I would definitely recommend this band to anyone.

  • OCMS Rocks Again...

by rheimann on 9/30/09John Anson Ford - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

OCMS playing the John Anson Ford Amphitheater on a balmy Socal evening - doesn't get much better...first half was the traditional string band material, really energetic and entertaining...the second half was a knock out with all the new and old favorites...of course Wagon Wheel got everyone cranked as usual...thought the new material was shining brightly with High Test Alabama and Amphetamine...disappointing that they didn't play Tennessee Pusher...oh well...the evening ended with a Beatles cover...

This was my first visit to this venue, It was amazing--very intimate, not a bad seat in the house. OCMS was lively, entertaining and their music was superb. The weather was great. What more could you ask for? Hope to see them and other performances here again.

  • old crow medicine show @ the 4th and B

by skizzle on 9/29/094th and B - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great, they played most everything I wanted to hear and then some. Only problem was that the songs were so short and the show got over at around 12 pm, just when I'm getting started. Overall good show but be prepared to pay $10 a drink at the 4th and b.

  • unforgettable

I've been wanting to see these guys play live for years, and I'm thrilled they made it to San Diego. Great, fun, high-energy show. Tight sets, good vocals, great sound levels. I can't wait to see them again.

  • Old Crow Medicine Show was amazing!

by MsVicki on 9/23/09Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Music was superb. Lots of energy during the concert.

  • Old Crow Medicine Show...UGH!

by ALTN on 9/22/09Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was terribly disappointed with the opening act. In fact, they were painful to listen to. I would have much preferred to have Old Crow play longer. And, when Old Crow did play, the did not play very long and took a break. We left at the break...counting our losses.

  • Folk Music in ovedrive!!!!!!

by BanjerpickerinBama on 9/21/09Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

FANTASTIC Show!!! An excellent group of top notch pickers and singers. WOW, what a party these guys deliver. They came to Bama to entertain us, they met and exceeded my expectations of the evening. This is a must see group for any body that likes hard driving accoustic ,well penned songs , excellent musicianship and enjoys a good time with friends and music. Never miss an opportunity to see OCMS in action. To the band...ya'll come back, ..hear?
