Oklahoma w/o any of the fun

by M. Z. on 6/5/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

Sadly, this reinvention of Oklahoma was simply weak. No set changes, weak vocals, odd blackouts and seemingly no energy. We had to leave at intermission along with much of the audience out of frustration and boredom. I’ve never left a performance before. Sad.

    Adored It!!

    by A. G. on 6/5/22

Everyone leaving negative reviews for this show is old, stupid, and lacks critical thinking skills. Saw this production and absolutely loved it and thought the cast did an excellent job. Also transphobic a-holes begone.

    It's Different...

    by G. C. on 6/4/22

Where do I start? Like many others I too considered leaving after the first act. This is different. Very different. I recommend sticking through till the end because it all plays together and it is truly a cool show. Don't expect a bright musical, but rather more of a dark, and erie play with music. I enjoyed the twist the producers/directors put on this classic show. Have an open mind, and don't expect something like the original Oklahoma.

    Disappointed

by TJ on 6/4/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

This is not Oklahoma. It was a very dark, deep and frankly weird production. Almost all of the people around us were saying the same thing. It seemed as though we were at a high school level production at best . Very disappointing

This show was so bad that it will be a joke for us forever!

by Mary on 6/4/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

Instead of scenery, they sat at tables. The show suddenly turned dark with actors whispering about suicide. I'm not kidding. There was a 'dream sequence' that was supposed to be ballet but it was so bad it was laughable. The band made annoying noise during this sequence. Do not be fooled, this was not the musical Oklahoma!

    Poor production

by Larry B on 6/4/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

Very disappointing remake of what was originally an entertaining musical.

Read reviews before you buy tickets for grandma to go see O!

by JE on 6/3/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

Liked the acoustic music sound and minimalist setting. The second act turned into a weird horror show. If you’re trying to get people to come back to live shows this might not be the best way

    Oklahoma Reimagined

by randy on 6/3/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

We loved the original version of the musical Oklahoma. We did not care for the new reimagined version at all. We felt like we wasted our money. I should have read the small print when I purchased our tickets where it said it was a reimagined version. That's my fault.

Sad to say - did not enjoy

by Cali on 6/3/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

This performance was nothing like we expected - it was creepy, dark, and disturbing. After having read other reviews, I understand this is the point but with no heads up, it was jarring and not enjoyable. A third of the audience left at intermission and more during the second act. A real shame as the performers were all immensely talented.

    Avoid

    by J. S. on 6/3/22

Terrible. Half the audience left at intermission. Painful to watch.

    It was awful.

by Cat on 6/3/22Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

The set look like something an elementary school would Have put together. It had Bud Light cans crockpot something that they did not have back in those ages. The singing was subpar the acting was atrocious. I should’ve believe the reviews when I read them just give those tickets away to an elementary school child.

Not the Oklahoma we know and love. They changed it so much. Very disappointing.

    Horrible

by Joy on 5/26/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

We were looking forward to an uplifting end of the season show. Why ruin a good show. Terrible set and a dark show. Not worth 1 stars waste of my money.

    Oklahoma?

by Jayhawk on 5/26/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

Not OK. Super weird. Where was the dancing? The updated West Side Story was cool. This was not.

    Not Oklahoma

by Brett Alex on 5/25/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

Odd casting. Odd blocking. Very bad choreography. Not at all like original but with no script changes so the modernization makes little sense. Dreadfully disappointing

    Disappointed

by Disappointed on 5/25/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

This is advertised as a Broadway production? Did the director or actors ever watch the original production of Oklahoma? The budget must have been razor thin because there was one set, which consisted of a bunch of picnic tables on the stage and some props on the wall. I am assuming the director was attempting to modernize the play. If you are expecting to see the beloved version of Oklahoma we grew up with then run away from this show.

    Weird

by Disappointed patron on 5/25/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

I was very disappointed in the show. The actors were fine, but the presentation of the story was a miss for me. Too confusing and just a disappointment.

    What??

by JC on 5/25/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

What were they thinking? What happened to the quality of a show titled "Oklahoma?" What do you expect feon a Broadway show? Not even close to the costume design, singing voice and acting ability of what I saw.

    Waste of time and money

by Disappointed Mimi on 5/24/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

Bad casting, couldn’t interpret the interpretive dance, made no sense to me, stage props and stage area were not very good, the videos of the characters were creepy, as was the scenes where they talked with the lights out. Not what I expected at all.

    Can I give negative stars?

by BMH1978 on 5/24/22North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

This was the worst reimagining I have ever seen. It was like watching a show my kids used to put on for us in the basement when they were in elementary school. The poor actors we’re good sports and I’m sure very talented but the show was boring, weird and dark (sometimes literally). Rodgers and Hammerstein are rolling in their graves.
