The gates opened at 5 and the show did not start until 7. I generally expect a show to start 1 hour after gates but that's okay. The show was very funny and you could tell the performers put their all into it. Most performances included some little treat in addition to their stand up material. I will rarely leave Houston and head to The Woodlands for a show. The only thing that got me to make the drive out was the amazing line up. The venue was a little ridiculous. I will give credit for the amphitheater and the sound. Those were very good. However, they sold very overpriced drinks and food. They did not let us keep the caps to the water bottles which I found confusing. It was a nightmare getting back to the car because of the tight walkways and the tremendous crowd. The design of the place is terrible for such large groups of people, which is presumably what they count on. So I don't understand why the walk back to the parking lots is designed so poorly. Overall, the performers were great. Possibly the only place it could be done in Houston is at this venue, but I still did not care for the venue.

Great first half
by Nolabrew on 8/27/13Austin360Amphitheater - AustinRating: 3 out of 5Opening acts were fantastic. 5 hours later FotC and Chappele came on and stunk it up. Love me some Chappelle but he was terrible. I think his closing joke was setting a record for doing 11 minutes of comedy in 45 minutes.
Oddball fest was awesome
by Midameame3 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5Over all I had a great time. I met new people and had a great time with all the people around us.
His performance was very short!!!
by kika2010 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 2 out of 5We go there early, got to look around when the actual show started around 7pm there was some funny comedians. When Dave finally came out around 10 pm He only did about 40 min at most, he was funny but I feel that he could of at least giving a hour show at the least.

Godfrey (the host) was the only funny comedian. And Dave Chappelle was on stage for about 30-40 minutes. He was running out of jokes too. Very disappointed. Save your money.
Good show. overpriced fees.
by kiduh on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 3 out of 5The funny or die oddball fest was supposed to mark the return of Dave Chappelle to a mass audience. Unfortunately for those who attended the Woodlands show it left much to be desired. The opening comedy acts got better as they went on. Notable comedic acts were Demetri Martin and Hannibal Burress, both of who were great. Flight of the conchords co-headling act fell short of a great performance. Their set seemed to go on far too long. Their mumbled accents also didn't project well to the audience. Now to the headliner, Dave Chappelle who celebrated his 40th birthday with the crowd. Bad news, is that he went on a tangent with one joke way too long and his set was further interrupted by his entourage to wish him a happy birthday. Right before ending his show, which seemed to go on for 40 mins, he proceeded to wrap it up at the instruction of the venue. While the performance itself was good, my biggest complaint about the show is about the pricing of the venue who charged each ticket over $18 in "service fees". With the price of bottled water, food, alcoholic beverages, and no fans to cool down the crowd- they provided no service to me.

I enjoyed the show very much, definitely going back!
Great time!
by SweetLace on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5I went with a friend and we had a great time. There were so many good comedians that we weren't really that anxious to see Dave Chappelle. Dave was funny but unfortunately there were too many hecklers that distracted him so I don't feel like we got enough laughs from him. Also, he seems a little bitter about what he's gone through, which I understand, but I was hoping for some more uplifting jokes.
Oddball comedy fest was a great time
by Brad0102 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5Hannibal Burress was hilarious. Dave Chappell was just as great but he was only out on stage for like 30 minutes. Flight of the Concorde was also great. This show is a must see! Plus Bun B came out on stage during Hannibal's set which was awesome.
entertaining as hell
by greeneyeris on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 5 out of 5I went to see FOTC and Dave. I was extremely impressed with the other comedians, and the host was funny as well. Great show, highly recommended.
Oddballfest review
by Bowsermike on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5The festival was small for a festival, but the comedic talent didnt disappoint , although I did think certain comedians got more time to perform than others and the best talent didnt have enough time to perform I.e. dave Chappell, all in all it was a good show .
Chappelle wasn't worth te money
by Robert32 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 1 out of 5The show started 30 minutes late. There was an intermission that lasted way too long also. The Flight of the Concords set could've been about 25 minutes shorter. Once Dave Chappelle finally took the stage he cut his set short because of an impromptu birthday celebration and had to finish early due to a curfew. So I'm short it was definitely not worth the money!!!
Dave killed it!
by TexanCheesehead on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 5 out of 5This show was absolute, hands down, hilarious! Every act was funny, topical, and current. oh and they were funny as hell to boot!
Short Chappelle set
by Dallas2Houston on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5All comedians were funny, but Chappelle only performed for about 20-30 minutes. The big problem w/ that was having to sit through an hour of Flight of the Conchords (which most of the crowd including myself was not enjoying).
Comedy show- NOT what I expected
by PilarMastra on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 2 out of 5The energy among the people there were great but the comedians were not. The comedians were ok with the EXCEPTION of the 2 guys that sang their comedy. I wanted to JUMP OFF the second floor! They killed the mood before Dave Chapelle came out. The time slot for Dave was supose to be at 9:55 but between getting the stage prepped up for him they took about 15 minutes. He actually came out at 10:10. Then it was his bday so time was taken away from his stand up to celebrate. The total time he did his show was about 30 minutes, VERY DISAPPOINTING. I don't believe it was worth the money to sit out there in the crazy HEAT for a 30 minute show for which everyone really was out there to see, Dave Chapelle.
Great night with lots of great performers!
by Dezigner83 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5I mostly went because of Flight of the Conchords (when will I ever get the chance to see them again?? They hardly ever tour). Getting to see Dave Chappelle's big comeback was just the icing on the cake. Bonus for this particular show, it was Dave's 40th birthday and they surprised him with a cake on stage. The show felt very short, as so many performers were on hand, everyone got short sets. Dave's felt the shortest (I think the Conchords performed longer). Demitri Martin was particularly funny that night. I liked that he had a lot of jokes that were specific to our location and venue. It felt more personalized. The conchords were great, although again, it felt like a very short set. I was hoping for more songs from the show, but I also appreciated the new material as well. Overall, it was a lot of fun. It was very hot until the sun went down, but I'd go again! I didn't really particularly enjoy the venue's exit strategy though, there was only one tiny funneling path to get to our parking lot and it felt poorly designed for everyone trying to leave. Also absolutely no phones were allowed 'out' at the show. It was nice to not see a ton of phone screens everywhere taking poor quality photos, but I hadn't experienced something that strict before.
I laughed, I didn't cry.
by candyreporter71 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 4 out of 5Flight of the Concords took too long. They need to cut their act shorter. Dave Chappelle should've been on way longer! Ugh! Crys Tal was bad. The only thing funny was the end when she was dancing to Irene Cara's "What a Feeling". The comedian that rapped and had the rapper come out also was GREAT! And the white guy comedian was great. And the host/MC was funny. Overall it was good, but I didn't laugh til I cried like I thought I would.
great idea, but headliners fell a little short
by TXBill on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 3 out of 5This was a really cool idea. Not simply a 2 hour comedy show, but rather a multi hour event with a lot of comedians and visual events. The opening acts were pretty good. The headliners however fell a little short of my expectations. The Conchords are always a favorite of mine, but I find the TV show much funnier. Their act was a little hard to understand. Dave Chappelle is one of my all time funniest comics. I guess the bar was set so high with Killin Them Softly and later his series that all this time off made it difficult to reach that level of funny. When he is funny, he is freak'n hilarious, but this show only had a few truly funny moments and a lot more "dead air". His delivery is unmatched so I know with the right content he can be great again. Crossing my fingers that happens.
Hit or miss
by comedyfan26 on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 3 out of 5This show had a lot of potential but ended up under-delivering. Ultimately, the biggest problem with the show is that everyone came for Dave Chappelle, and he only did stand up for ~45 minutes. Otherwise, we were subjected to a mix of some funny (and some terrible) acts for another 5 hours. On the plus side, Hannibal was great. I thought D. Martin also delivered a strong performance. Al Madrigal did alright. On the downside, Kristen Schaal was horrible. I'm not sure she got any laughs at all. Most of us took her show as an opportunity to purchase a hotdog. The flight of the conchords were also miserably bad and stayed on stage FOR A FULL HOUR. Longer than Dave Chappelle. Their stories rambled and their songs really aren't that funny. Dave was fantastic of course, but ultimately too little too late. I would have completely cut F.o.t.C and given dave 2 hours. That man can read the phone book and make it funny... we don't need to fill the show with crap acts when you've got a legend.
Hannibal Buress stole the show
by ReeeezL on 8/27/13The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - WoodlandsRating: 3 out of 5Overall show had it's high and low. Hannibal Buress was the best standup comedian, the rest were so so. Good hosting, Flight of the Concord were disappointing and boring playing only their ballads. Chapelle was raw, natural. and enjoyable. It was his 40th bday. He did seem to want to be in Houston. I hear he killed it at his Austin show and sad he didn't bring that energy to Houston. I'm still a fan just wish he would get back on his feet and bring the energy.
