About

Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is NPR's Peabody Award-winning comedy news quiz show. Host Peter Sagal leads a rotating panel of comedians, writers, listener contestants, and celebrity guests through a rollicking review of the week's news.  Contestants vie for the most coveted prize in all of public radio: a custom-recorded greeting by any of our cast members for their voicemail.

Every week, Wait, Wait.... Don't Tell Me! records in front of a live audience, then carefully edits out all the raunchy, inappropriate, shocking, and hilarious stuff so we can broadcast something that doesn't get NPR in trouble... well, more trouble. The only way you can find out what our panelists and guests really think about the news is to come see for yourself. And please--don't tell NPR. Also, we're all much more attractive than we sound.

  • Laughed so hard, my face hurt

The podcast is great, but the live taping is ten times funnier. The panelists riff off each other, the guest speaks for a much longer time and the audience energy adds so much to the experience. Would definitely attend another taping.

  • It’s better on the radio

by dBIGz on 7/9/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

Loved the Mann venue, but our seats in the back of the covered section made had to see the performers on the stage well. The projection screens were useless as the people looked just as small on the screen as they did live. The sound system was inadequate and I had to strain to make out the words. We left early. Still love listening to the show, but would never go back to see it live unless I was close to the front.

I listen to this show every weekend and as a subscriber to WHYY, I was offered pre-sale tickets. I wasn't going to let this opportunity pass. I hadn't been to the Mann in decades either. It was really interesting to see how the show is made - roughly 2 hours edited to less than an hour! Even less for this show as it fell during pledge week. I hope it will air again with a longer version. The Mann was easy to get to, easy to park - great view of the city! Just wish we'd known we could order picnic dinners. Next time!

  • Awesome! So much fun!

Seeing this fabulous show live was such a fun experience.

  • Wow! "Yes, Yes"!!

by Kat on 7/1/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

"Wait, Wait" at the Mann was an outstanding show/presentation/education/escape/embrace....Can't express how much we enjoyed it!! What quick wits and extensive knowledge this crew has! And so very entertaining. Venue is comfortable, and luckily the weather was lovely as we were not "under cover". The weather issue is the only possible downside when attending the Mann, but this evening it was just perfect!

  • Loved the show but..

by D. on 7/1/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show and the venue. The only problem is that we sat in the last section of seats before the lawn seats. We could not see Peter or the contestants because there wasn't a screen close enough to us. The two screens towards the front are too far forward to see from our seats. The big screen in the back in the middle is apparently for the people on the lawn. The people on the lawn saw better than we did in our seats. They need to have screens for the last section of seats. It is particularly important when there is a show like this. The Mann Center needs to consider adding screens to the right and left of the big screen for the last section of seats. I would not purchase these seats again. Thank You.

  • Awesome!

It was so much fun to actually watch the show that I listen to every week. Smart, funny and incredibly entertaining!

  • Five Stars for Show, One Star for Traffic/Parking

by Sharon B on 7/1/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

We love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and this was a beautiful evening to be outdoors enjoying a live performance. Once we got to the Mann, we were very happy with the show and the venue. BUT -- It took us 45 minutes to drive just a single final mile (or less) from the Schuylkill Expressway exit to the Mann -- the traffic control was horrendous -- and when we pulled in, we were charged $25 to park on the grass, which seemed excessive, particularly after the 45 minutes of sitting nearby had made us pretty cranky. The show appeared to be sold out, so an unnecessarily obscene amount was made on the parking, in addition to the tickets.

  • Fun Show

by T. on 7/1/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

We are big fans of WWDTM, so it was fabulous to see it live and how they put it together for the radio and podcast listeners. Our only complaint is the sound system made it at times hard to hear the banter and dialogue. More speakers spread around the covered area would be great. Or turned up louder. Concessions are fantastic.

  • Funny, Enlightening, Entertaining, Interesting

by Mort on 7/1/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Could not have been blessed with a better panel. So impressed with poise, professionalism, and quick witted repartee between Peter and panel. Echo in venue made it difficult to hear many responses when audience reacted. Great to see the work involved in putting together a wonderful program. Mann Loop bus WAY TOO OVERCROWDED!! Driver was terrific, but that system needs to be better planned.

  • Awesome time!!

  • Love this show

I love this show and if it were in philly as it’s home base I would try to go every week! It’s good to laugh until you cry!

  • It was worth the Wait....Wait

by P Red on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful evening, beautiful venue and lots of fun watching an NPR favorite "come to life".

  • We only could hear about half of what was said.

by Mike Gerdes on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

We had supposedly good seats, row NN, seats 104 & 105. Neither I or my sweetheart could clearly hear what was being said, getting only about half of what was said. Sounds like poor sound engineering. We were both disappointed. I have attended shows in Chicago and they were terrific. Sad they couldn't get it right at the Mann.

  • Cheeks Still Hurt!

by ChefJulie on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

For fans of "Wait Wait", getting to see how the show is produced live while at one of the country's BEST outdoor venues, well... what a night! Lots of laughs, of course, plus getting to watch how they piece the show together. Will be there again next time the show comes to Philadelphia. The Mann is a pleasure from beginning to end. Employees are plentiful and helpful from arrival to departure. A+++ night!

  • Radio-show Preference

by Rambo on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

Although it was nice to have had the experience of seeing everyone in person, there’s something to be said about the convenience of listening to the program on the radio. After the first hour, I found the novelty of watching a live show had worn thin. Still, I don’t regret attending this event.

  • Loved every minute!!

by Paul on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I had not been to the Mann Center before and was impressed by the grounds and the theater. It is a great venue. And, WWDTM is my favorite radio show. It is always a treat to listen and a special treat to watch it live. Wish I could do it again!

  • Show - 5 stars! Venue - barely 3

by Jen D on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

The show was fabulous! But the venue lacking. While I do like the new terrace seating, all else was pretty awful. $25!!! to park your car on grass and mud, where you need a 4 wheel drive to get to the area. My car bottomed out trying to get in! Bring your own food and beverages!! When I asked about seating at the restaurant and availability, she simply told me no. Didn't say how much of a wait or even suggest options. So we went to the pop up trucks. The cost is prohibitive and the quality pretty darn awful. Beer $12! was warm and the food cold and tasteless.I get that this is a non profit and you need to over charge a bit to make something back but at least find decent vendors.

  • Lots of fun

by J. on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyable evening with clever panel and host. Fun to see "behind the scenes".

  • Great show

by NPRunner on 6/30/19TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the venue including the food and drink options. They ran out of some foods early so if you are banking on a meat burger you might want to eat before you enter. Good vegetarian options. Parking was a little messy and slow but everything worked out. The show was incredible. So much fun to see everybody live! Paula, Luke and Faith gave us lots of laughs. We had seats in the “main” section and couldn’t have been happier.
