About

Born Norman Gene MacDonald on October 17, 1963, in Quebec City, Canada, Norm MacDonald got his big break at the 1987 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. MacDonald took his act to the States, where he wrote for ``Roseanne'' and ``The Dennis Miller Show'' before joining the ``Saturday Night Live'' writing staff in 1993. Soon after, Lorne Michaels gave him an on-air shot reading quirky Weekend Update editorials; within a year, he'd replaced Kevin Nealon in the anchor chair until he left the show in March 1998.
In 1998, Norm's first movie, the cult classic "Dirty Work," came out to theatres. In March 1999, Norm tried his hand at a sitcom he created with Bruce Helford. "Norm" lasted 3 seasons on ABC. During its run, Norm starred in "Screwed," which was also panned by critics. In October 2003, Norm joined forces with Barry Kemp, the man behind "Newhart" and "Coach." "A Minute with Stan Hooper" was a softer approach for Norm and a critic favorite. Norm played the straight man for once. Norm's distinct voice has paid off for him professionally. He has voiced "Lucky" the dog in three "Dr. Dolittle" movies. He's also voiced "Death" for one episode of "Family Guy" and the Genie for "The Fairly Odd Parents".
On September 12, 2006, Norm launched his long-rumored comedy album, "Ridiculous". He is back to doing stand up and recently has been emerging as a serious poker player and can be seen competing at the World Poker Tours Celebrity edition on the Travel Channel.

    Legend

by Chris on 11/18/19Gila River Hotels & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

Norm was on fire and didn’t disappoint. He has such an amazing skill at making it seem as if he’s just having a conversation with you. The material was great, I could sit through a 3-4 hour set of Norm’s jokes. If you have a chance to see this legend live, do not skip it.

    Not funny anymore

He should have had a shorter show. We had to leave early, it was painful

    Norm's Comedy Show

by Gman on 11/8/19The Paramount - Huntington

I had a great time. Stevie G was very good and Norm was Awesome! Love the venue, it's intimate and not a bad seat in the house. I really like that Norm immediately followed the first act and we got out timely...nicely done as most of us probably had work/school the next day.

    Norm at Paramount

    by g. h. on 11/8/19The Paramount - Huntington

So this guy is super funny and a killer delivery. The only thing I guess I can say that isn't stellar is that he has some pretty old fashioned ideas about women and it's clear he hasn't progressed. It IS funny though so I can see how some people could find it dated. He really is one of the funniest guys with a unique view.

    One of our best

by Tisserand on 11/5/19L'Auberge Casino Resort - Lake Charles - Lake Charles

Norm Macdonald is still one of our freshest and funniest stand-up comedians, and Colin Quinn was also terrific. The venue sucked; ushers with flashlights flocked in front of us for most of the first set while packs of Lake Charles gamblers came in and out. But once we snuck down to an emptied seat in the front row all was good.

    One of a kind

    Funny!

by A. R. on 11/5/19L'Auberge Casino Resort - Lake Charles - Lake Charles

The show was great! Norm and Colin were taking turns doing their performance, 20 minutes for one and then switch for another 20 minutes. Comedy was relatable and I really had a great time. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars was due to the venue, the Casino put out folding chairs for us. I've been to the L'Auberge in Biloxi and they have permanent stadium seating for their shows. That was kind of cheap in my opinion to have us all dressed up and walk into metal folding chairs kind of took the "special" out of the event.

    Norm Macdonald is the best!

    by Lauren on 10/6/19

Norm did not disappoint, he was in top form with his impressive and unique brand of comedy. He was funny from the start to the finish. I had a great time. I also have to say that the South Point Showroom was a great venue, it was small and intimate without being cramped. Every seat in the house was a good one. Opening acts were not bad and also kept their sets short. I had a blast seeing the one and only, the legendary, Norm Macdonald live, and feel very fortunate to have done so.

    Fantastic performance

    by Luke on 10/5/19

Saw Norm at South Point and he was incredibly sharp and on point with the issues of the day - haven’t laughed this hard in ages. He is very brave about covering important and edgy topics in his stand up - - probably the probably the best comedian I’ve ever seen. South point is a comfortable venue for the audience with adequate room for everyone. Norm was fantastic, he should be playing larger theaters. Don’t miss Norm if he is performing near you!

    Hotter than a $3 pistol

    by arobsz on 9/25/19

The other reviewers are correct in that it was at least 85 degrees during the show and I can see how it could have had an adverse effect on their respective evenings. However, Norm was in rare form on this Saturday night and the opening (Jeremy -the future of comedy) and middle (Josh) acts were very enjoyable. For those who thought the humor was offensive, you need to man up and do some research before you buy tickets. Norm is an absolute legend, one of the all time great standup comedians; he takes pride in walking a room full of woke people. Thanks for coming to Ohio, Norm - you are the best!

It was a great show by Norm, too bad that the AC didn't work properly and the whole venue felt like a sauna.

    Edgy, Still Funny

by millhouse on 9/25/19River City Casino & Hotel - St Louis

Sound could have been better (not just louder) as sometimes Norm was hard to understand but that could have just been that he sometimes mumbles. Much like his SNL gig of riffing on the news, he wasn't afraid to take on controversial subjects and still make you laugh even though you may have thought "Should I be laughing at this?" Anyway, still enjoyed the show very much.

    Norm in St. Louis

by EBuzzMiller on 9/25/19River City Casino & Hotel - St Louis

Norm was fantastic! He had a great mix of old and new material, timely observational humor, and biting political satire. Loved his take on the so-called #metoo movement, and it's fundamental abandonment of reason and due process. As always, Norm sets up jokes extremely well, and quickly changes directions for maximum comedic effect. He is a national treasure! I strongly recommend that any rational person with an open mind and functioning sense of humor go see him before he retires. ~EBuzz

    The greatest of all time

by Hashbrowns on 9/25/19River City Casino & Hotel - St Louis

I am very thankful to have gotten to experience Norm McDonald live comedy, in person, in my lifetime. The jokes and stories are originated in a way to bridge the political divide in our country through humor, wit, and lacks of candor. His jokes are woke, and his on stage gum curling skills rate 10/10. So hilarious, how Norm is able to embody the absurdity of political viewpoints of political oppositions, and using a comedic transformation to bring thought provoking insights into absurdities of the current political group think culture.
