About

Born Norman Gene MacDonald on October 17, 1963, in Quebec City, Canada, Norm MacDonald got his big break at the 1987 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. MacDonald took his act to the States, where he wrote for ``Roseanne'' and ``The Dennis Miller Show'' before joining the ``Saturday Night Live'' writing staff in 1993. Soon after, Lorne Michaels gave him an on-air shot reading quirky Weekend Update editorials; within a year, he'd replaced Kevin Nealon in the anchor chair until he left the show in March 1998.
In 1998, Norm's first movie, the cult classic "Dirty Work," came out to theatres. In March 1999, Norm tried his hand at a sitcom he created with Bruce Helford. "Norm" lasted 3 seasons on ABC. During its run, Norm starred in "Screwed," which was also panned by critics. In October 2003, Norm joined forces with Barry Kemp, the man behind "Newhart" and "Coach." "A Minute with Stan Hooper" was a softer approach for Norm and a critic favorite. Norm played the straight man for once. Norm's distinct voice has paid off for him professionally. He has voiced "Lucky" the dog in three "Dr. Dolittle" movies. He's also voiced "Death" for one episode of "Family Guy" and the Genie for "The Fairly Odd Parents".
On September 12, 2006, Norm launched his long-rumored comedy album, "Ridiculous". He is back to doing stand up and recently has been emerging as a serious poker player and can be seen competing at the World Poker Tours Celebrity edition on the Travel Channel.

    Hilarious!

by Debbie E. on 2/9/20Moore Theatre - Seattle

So funny! The two openers were hilarious as well... especially the gentleman from Vancouver. Norm knows how to push boundaries but by the perfect amount! Wish he came to Seattle more often!!!!

    Needed to wear ear plugs

by Toby Frey on 2/9/20Moore Theatre - Seattle

Why does a COMEDY show need to be as loud as a rock concert? Good grief it was LOUD! Thank God i keep a pair of earplugs in my jacket because the volume was way too much. Also, Norm McDonald was alright, but the two opening guys were lame.

    Not a good show

by Gp on 2/9/20Moore Theatre - Seattle

He is not coherent and had zero memorable lines. I was disappointed since I was a fan and expected a good show.

    Outstanding

by America1 on 2/3/20The Event Center at Hollywood Casino Columbus - Columbus

Norm never fails to crack us up. Perfect venue, nice and small. I'm sure he could sell out bigger places but he simply added a show and he can hang out and gamble! His opener was not good but can you blame Norm for that? Makes Norm look all the much better!

    Too tight!

by DLX on 2/3/20The Event Center at Hollywood Casino Columbus - Columbus

The event was held in a ballroom and the chairs were banquet chairs but they were placed together with absolutely no space between them. The only way one could be comfortable was either be a couple with your arm around your partner or guests sitting at the front of their seat or back of their seat every other guest. The seats were also tough to sit in for two hours. Just not a good venue. I imagine the price of admission was reasonable because they packed us in like sardines. I won’t be seeing another show here unless they add a proper theater with permanent seating.

    Nooooorm!!

Norm is as good now as ever! His wittiness on stage makes for an enjoyable and hilarious show. Fantastic show at Hollywood Casino

I finally saw the ol'chunk of coal...

by Elvis on 2/3/20The Event Center at Hollywood Casino Columbus - Columbus

Norm was awesome. Performed for almost 2 hours. The venue was lame. Basically a conference room where they put a makeshift stage at one end.

One of the all time greatests!

    by Aishik on 1/18/20

People that don't find him funny are clearly not familiar with his material and style of comedy. His jokes aren't just well-written, they're well-crafted! Watch some of his old stuff on YouTube if aren't familiar with his brilliant work.

Norm was ok but opening act was terrible

by Bo on 1/1/20The Event Center at Hollywood Casino - Charles Town

Norm delivered as expected. However, the opening act (can't remember his name) was disappointing. Not funny, just raunchy.

    Killer seats (literally)

by R. J. on 12/31/19The Event Center at Hollywood Casino - Charles Town

This was the first time I've ever seen a comedian perform live. Norm was great. I loved his material. My only beef was with the venue. I sat in the rear seating and had to rely upon twin, large screen TVs on either side of the stage. It would have been a much better show if the camera could at least occasionally zoom in on his face. (BTW, Norm wore a baseball cap the entire time, it shadowed his face.) The seating was very cramped. The backs of my thighs still ache from those awful seats.

    Norm!

by Tray on 12/31/19The Event Center at Hollywood Casino - Charles Town

Norm did not disappoint! I am 53 and took my son to see Norm for my son’s 22nd birthday as he fondly recalled Norm from Norm the Genie on The Fairly Odd Parents. We laughed hysterically! What a good time. My son couldn’t thank me enough.
