For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Boston Bruins in the 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at Raymond James Stadium on Feb. 1, 2026.
The 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series is the Lightning's second outdoor game appearance, and the Bruins' sixth. Tampa Bay scored a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators at Nissan Stadium in Nashville at the 2022 NHL Stadium Series while Boston owns a 4-1 record in outdoor games dating back to the 2010 NHL Winter Classic, a 3-2 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park.
The event and venue were great, but leaving the parking garage could have been better
This Stadium Series game was such a job well done by the NHL. Wonderful tributes to the CBJ, OSU, the Gaudreau family, and Columbus. So many things to appreciate as a CBJ and OSU fan! The “Block O” ice rink, pep rally at St John’s with O.A.R., the march to the “Shoe”, the OSU cheerleaders, the OSU athletic band, Script Ohio on the hockey rink, the band playing our goal celebration song, the cannon, the military fly over, all the tributes, and the list goes on. This was a once in a lifetime experience, made even better by watching our much loved Blue Jackets play their hearts out and win the game! I know Johnny, Matty, and Kivi were watching from above and loved every single minute as much as we did!❤️💙
From getting in, walking around, pre game festivities, the game, and getting out, one of the best experiences I had.
Great setup, great experience, great time and especially honoring Johnny Hockey!!
The pageantry was awesome, as was the exciting game. Great mash-up of OSU football traditions and CBJ hockey. I had been concerned about the distance between the seats and the rink, but did not have any trouble seeing the action. There would have been a great market for seat cushions (missed opportunity), as the metal benches were really cold. OSU is really stingy with seat width, so maybe not. The only real downer was parking. I followed the directions that were emailed to me, only to find that the exit to which I was directed was closed. I was able to find my way to campus on surface streets, but the parking garage named for the street did not actually face it. I used to go to OSU football games, and they handled traffic much more efficiently. Take a lesson.
Had a great time at the Stadium Series game in Columbus with the Blue Jackets vs Red Wings… great atmosphere, great game, and a great show for all hockey fans! It carried the momentum from the 4 Nations Face Off, and was very classy of the Wings and Jackets to show such respect for the Gaudreau family on a global stage!
We did it all…the pep rally, pregame concert, the game! All in all, it was a ton of fun and will make a great memory for our family. My only negative is that this was NHL hockey-not a Buckeye football game. Why so much of that involved? Why no Leo singing the anthem? At the very least, they should have done included OSU hockey players.
This was the most memorable event I have ever attended.
The seats (24C, R31) provided a great view of the field/rink. What was lacking was better directions as to what was allowed (blankets and stadium seats - both which would have been useful) eyeglass. Warming stations/heaters would have been appreciated as well
My only concern is really a question: How was the seating arranged and by whom. STH were, allegedly, given first choice of seats. But no one was able to explain to me why so many seats were already blocked off (I was on the site immediately). Did those seats belong to the OSU or the NHL? This is not a big deal, but I felt a tad bamboozled. I would have gladly purchased more expensive seats closer to the action had they been offered.
Great time catching my first stadium or outside game. The atmosphere was top notch, lots of energy and actions to keep the audience engaged in the activity. Venue was perfect, seats were a little off to side and next time i will look to get closer to the middle. Not usually a concern but for this game closer to center would have been more ideal. However, sightline was decent considering the size of the venue. Columbus was an exciting place to see the game and being my first time in the area very impressed. Good excitement and energy in the building, confections did a great job serving the crowd, entrance to the venue was efficient as was the departure. Overall, a great experience but will need to dress warmer in the future. The NHL did a great job!
Other than the cold, great atmosphere to be a part of at this historical event in Columbus, OH. Ease of entry until time to leave great environment. Pre-game tailgate party was a fun environment as well. Great hockey game and thrilled CBJ won this game. Hope the NHL brings back another outdoor event sooner than later.
AWESOME! Great all day long! What a game! What a play by Danforth for the win!
Everything except for the food/concessions was great. They ran out of food at several stands. The concessions near our seats ran out BEFORE the first period.
Some out of staters may not have understood parts of the OSU emphasis, but most of us loved the way they tied the Buckeye connection into the hockey game. When it was time to drop the puck, we grew increasingly impatient as the Young Professor kept talking as they kept delaying the puck drop while we were getting colder and colder! Overall, it was a fantastic event. Relatives who had been to the Meadowlands for last year’s Winter Classic stated emphatically that this game in the Horseshoe was far superior to that experience. However, they would have liked to have had warming tents available like had been at the Meadowlands.
Great night and event put on by the NHL. Fans were great, the whole spectacle was great. Loved the sound of the rink being amplified to the seats!! Unfortunately only downfall for me, it felt more like an Ohio State event from the stands. Why in the hell do hockey fans need to hear Carmen Ohio at the end of the NHL hockey game?? Why are they celebrating college awards during the NHL hockey game. Would these programs be recognized at Nationwide Arena?? Anyway, wish there was a little more CBJ flavor to the atmosphere, Leo singing the national anthem, local announcers, and such.
NHL did a great job setting up the event. The Ohio State University Athletic Band and Dance Team were great. 21 Pilots had a wonderful performance between the 1st and 2nd periods. Best of all, the Blue Jackets and Red Wings played a great game of hockey.
This is our second time attending an outdoor game and where the games are great. The extras like the noon-5pm tailgate are built around groups of 20% of the people that were actually there. Lines 30-60mins to see or do something that should be 5-15mins each. Then how bad the merchandise was set up. Selling out of things and leaving them up to see so you wait 30 mins to buy them to be told we are sold out but have to leave them up. Some followed this rule and some were selling items off the wall. Caused major headaches for many people because of waiting in lines for products not available.
Hockey in the Shoe, great experience. NHL, CBJ and OSU did an outstanding job preparing and presenting the outdoor hockey experience.
Great Fan experience with game, concert, pregame events. Only negative was parking and concessions. Long line for parking. Once got to the payment area they sent us back up to first section right when you turn in because lower lot full. Should have been better monitoring of open spaces. Wasted a lot of time. Also Recommend Shuttles for future events with as many kids attending and the cold weather. Same issue with concessions. Waited in long line to get snacks and drinks only to find out no souvenir sodas available and had to go to another long line just to get a soda. You have souvenir drink advertised on the board waiting in line there should be souvenir drink sold or take it off the board if not available.
