About

For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Boston Bruins in the 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at Raymond James Stadium on Feb. 1, 2026.

The 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series is the Lightning's second outdoor game appearance, and the Bruins' sixth. Tampa Bay scored a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators at Nissan Stadium in Nashville at the 2022 NHL Stadium Series while Boston owns a 4-1 record in outdoor games dating back to the 2010 NHL Winter Classic, a 3-2 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park.

  • Stadium fiasco

by CapsCkan on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 1 out of 5

Parking - no direction - an absolute nightmare - had to walk a mile to stadium. Lines to get in were long and then they weren’t using the magnatometers-everyone was told to raise hands above head and pass through. No one ever checked our tickets. Crowds were insane. Probably the worst was that our ‘seats’ were just places on a bleacher and we had to stand to watch the game. If I had known this, would not have bought. Left after 2nd period to hike back to our car

  • Canes Win!

    by K.G. on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The event inside the Stadium and the Fan Fest were both exceptional experiences of professional organization at it's best. Where the event needed help was in the logistics leading up to that. Communication to ticket holders was poor & constantly changing. Access to parking lots and management of who could park once inside was a disaster. The NHL didn't let the local experts do their jobs, and insisted on micromanaging both to horrendous levels. The traffic and lack of control for people who paid $$ to park, but couldn't because passes weren't scanned is embarrassing. The normal processes weren't followed at all. 1 lane entries doesn't work. Not all entrances were used. Gate and seating staff did not know their jobs, nor where seating was located. Training on metal detector usage 10 min before opening is insanely unprofessional. 10-15 min backups to return to seating is ridiculous. It never happens at any other event at Carter Finley, but was routine Sat night. While the game inside the Stadium was a life long pleasant memory, everything else was unpleasant because the NHL was unprepared to handle it.

  • Outstanding experience

by Mark on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Once of a lifetime experience.. This event was outstanding and the NHL did a fantastic job for a venue

  • Terrible

by Dan on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 1 out of 5

Getting to parking took too long and thought we bought a parking pass in advance nobody even checked to see that we had one. The line to get in the stadium (only two entrances) was disorganized and much too long. The lines for concessions were also ridiculously long. The stadium is primarily bleacher seating and many seats/rows are not well marked so that added to confusion on where to sit. Once seated we are all packed in like sardines. The primary screen for replays was not clear and the other screens around the stadium were too small. Overall a bad experience and the NHL should not be patting itself on the back (as they did on the broadcast) for this event. In fact, they should apologize to fans for an awful event experience.

  • Had some problems, but always a cool experience.

This was our 3rd stadium series after having previously attended games in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Unfortunately, Raleigh/Carter Finley did not seem prepared for this event. The parking/traffic issue was terrible. It took us 2 hours to get into the lot at PNC. It's really hard to wrap my brain around the fact that they were not directing traffic from the highway in. Many of us missed the time we were hoping to spend with the pre-game events, despite leaving our house (which is 25 minutes away) at 2:30 for an 8:00 game. Despite that, we were super pumped for the actual game, which always has such an electric atmosphere. Again, we were completely let down by the sound system. We could not hear anything. The tributes to 25 years in Raleigh, the announcements, the calls, the bands... it was such a bummer. I love these games and will continue to travel for them, I'm just disappointed that our hometown didn't do better.

  • THE EXPERIENCE WAS ELECTIFING

by GLENN on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

LOGISTICALLY IT WAS NIGHTMARE--NOT TALKING ABOUT PARKING AND TRAFFIC BACK UP PEOPLE WERE TOLD REPEATEDLY TO COME EARLY SO ANYONE CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC IT WAS THEIR OWN FAULT --NOW ONTO THE GAME ITSELT SEATING PACKED IN LIKE A CAN SARDINES AND NO ONE WOULD SIT AND NO EFFERT WAS MADE BY STAFF TO MAKE THEM SIT FORCING EVERYONE BEHIND THEM STAND THE ENTIRE GAME. WAS JUST SIT AND WATCH IT ON THE SCREEN. IF HAD WANTED TO THAT I WOULD STAYED HOME IN MY RECLINER AND SAVED $500. IF WAS A ONCE IN A LIFE TIM EXPERIENCE NOT SURE IF I WOULD EVER DO IT AGAIN

  • Never Again

    by F. A. on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 1 out of 5

Zero stars. A total waste of time and money. A massive logistical S-Show. When I bought parking, the parking app indicated that I was buying parking for the area just west of the arena. Even gave me directions to that area. When we got there, both lot accesses were closed. Cop said he believes they oversold parking. Finally got into a lot, on the east side of the stadium, on 4th entrance attempt. Attendants were inept - took forever to scan people's parking passes. We ended up a long way from the stadium. Lousy seating experience. When I bought seats (seats 1-4) I thought I was buying seats on the aisle. Nope. This backwards stadium has the aisle going through the middle of the section. Row lettering and seat numbering was many times non-existent. When we finally got to our seats it was obvious that people had ignored the seating assignment and were sitting where they wanted to. Once we had people move and wedged into 2 of our seats there was no room for the other two people in our party. Bathrooms closed. Concessions run by inept people. Stadium in the middle of nothing. No public transportation. Only one hotel and one restaurant near the stadium.

  • Stadium Game

    by NicNac77 on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Parking and directions were terrible, prepaid (yes GA), but stuck innline 2-3 hours. The criwd size is similar to football game do ???? Once inside, experience was good, although our side sound system was bad; great game

  • Fantastic Outdoor Game

by Net on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Treat yourself to an outdoor hockey game. Their was live music, NC State band and fireworks. Pre-game was outstanding, especially the flyover at night. Even outside the stadium watching both teams arrive dressed like golf and high school football players. So much fun!!!!

  • Fun but they weren't prepared for the crowd

by Josh on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

The event was a lot of fun! The only issue was that the venue really didn't handle the large crowd too well. Entrance into the venue was extremely slow and lines everywhere, including to the seat section. Concessions really could not keep up with the volume. Lastly, the jumbotron did not work at the venue, so that took away from replay highlights.

  • Great Event!

by Beryl on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Only comments are sound system wasn't great and getting into parking and stadium were longer wait times than expected

  • Awesome experience

by Chris on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

Everything inside the stadium was awesome. The Hurricanes won of course and the weather was perfect for an outdoor hockey game. The fireworks and entertainment (Jake Owen and Lovelytheband) were awesome. But the experience getting into the stadium was terrible. I paid parkwhiz in advance to park close to the stadium but the lot was closed when I got there because apparently they oversold the spaces available so I had to park 1.5 miles and take a bus back to the stadium. Once we got there, it took us an hour to get inside because they had only 2 gates open and no crowd control so it became a free for all to get inside. Fortunately, the end was better than the beginning.

  • CANES Stadium

by Ksports on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoyed the experience overall. I parked off site so I did not have the same issues friends had being in traffic for hours. Entrance lines were quick. My only note for improvement was the sound system. I was sitting in 110 and we could barely hear game and break announcements. We could hear both performers very well. But the vibe of the calls during the game was not as present. I was surprised because at State games we don’t have issues hearing anything. Seems NHL did not use that system, but they can do better.

  • Once at my seat in the stadium, the event was enjoyable, but

    by fan19 on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 2 out of 5

    - 58 yr old Capital season ticket holder for almost 25 years. This was my 3rd, and likely final, outdoor NHL game. My experiences in Pittsburgh and Annapolis were spectacular compared to CF Stadium. - the traffic to get to the event was terrible - the process to park was a complete mess. I spoke to multiple traffic and parking attendants while sitting in line. One attendant told me she was not able to reach the parking manager for guidance. - may people parked perpendicular, to spread out to tailgate. This eliminated many parking spaces and increased the time for those sitting in traffic to find a place to park. Beet pong really matters? - I finally found a parking attendant to help me find a place to park. I showed her my prepaid parking pass once I was basically at a dead end of a massive tailgaiting lot. She allowed me to park next to a row of portapottys. This was not a marked parking spot Obviously. I was lead to the dead end by other parking attendants. - I know it's a college town/college stadium, but parking in grass/mud is not something the NHL should accept. - entering the stadium was an unorganized crowd rush. - there were no ushers/attendants to guide visitors unfamiliar w the stadium (we from to NC from MD) - the audio was not very good. My hearing is not the issue here. The overall volume and clarity was not good enough.

  • Love the Canes but needs some work

by KJ on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 2 out of 5

First of all GO CANES! It was a great game, Jake Owens was awesome and the camera crew was amazing. I was really concerned about parking since I could not find an email sent to me with the parking link and it stating limited parking. We got in the high school with no problems and it was a short walk to the stadium. We were not allowed entry into the pregame activities because I had a clear bag to hold my cold weather items for the game. I feel that when you are walking so far, you shouldn’t have to carry all those items separately especially since the temperature had not dropped at that time. We found out seats with no problem but this stadium does not take into consideration that every person is not slim or even considered average weight so we were literally so tight sitting on top of one another. There was not a lot of room for people to walk especially those who had been drinking since 2:00 when the parking lot opened. Too many people falling on you and so much beer spilled in on myself and my blanket to keep me warm. We left at 2nd intermission and listened to the rest of the game on the way home. Personally unless some significant changes are made, I would not attend another one and just stick to the PNC. Coffee and hot chocolate were perfect for the night.

  • Great Event. Aweful Parking

    by Nbr1Caniac on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Incredible event but the parking was a fiasco and took many hours to arrive. Sone prepaid and were told noo parking left... terrible

  • NHL had no Game Day accommodations for fans w/ disabilities.

by Dissapointed disabled fan on 2/22/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 1 out of 5

Accessible parking pass was assigned to dirt, gravel, rickey lot. Directed to park at furthest side or lot away from Carter Finley. Had no car/ to asist fans to navigate to o from car to areana ans back. Was advised fans must walk. Diabled fans were told that maybe they should not have attended the event if they were disabled.

  • Good, but could have been better.

by JJ on 2/21/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Game was ok. Would have been better if my team won, but still good. Traffic was horrible, got within several blocks, then was rerouted to further away and took over 2 hours to park. Once parked, no directions on where to go to get in line to get in, just a free for all, and it took forever to get in. Left 4 hours before puck drop and barely made it to my seat in time for team entrances. Did not get to participate in the pregame festivities, or visit the concessions or merchandise booths. Lines for the bathrooms were super long, disorganized and hard to find. Could definitely use longer intermissions in the future to ensure people don't miss half a period just to go to the bathroom when there are tens of thousands of fans. Good view from my seat though, even though I was 7 rows from the top, was able to see the players well, and the bigger than usual player numbers helped. The pregame ceremony was pretty good, visually, the PA system wasn't that good, so couldn't really hear what was being said for most of the game. Especially liked the flyover with the "sparklers" trailing the jets, that was cool, and very pretty looking. Did like the addition of the various NC State athletic departments and teams. Ripkin the bat dog was awesome. Would definitely attend another outdoor game if a team I liked played in it.

  • Perfect except for...

by km on 2/21/23Carter Finley Stadium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

parking and the fact that the NHL was in charge of everything. Had our police and our stadium employees been able to run things (because they know what they're doing) it truly would been a perfect day/night. I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of it and hope it happens here in Raleigh again in the future. Don't disregard hockey in NC! We have the best fans in the league!
