New York Liberty History
The New York Liberty are one of three active founding franchises in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Liberty have made six WNBA Finals appearances, in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2023 and 2024, and topped the Eastern Conference seven times. In 2023, the team captured the in-season Commissioner's Cup behind a Finals MVP performance by Jonquel Jones, and later, Breanna Stewart became the first Liberty player to win the WNBA Most Valuable Player award. New York returned to the Commissioner’s Cup Final in 2024, but fell to the Minnesota Lynx. The two teams met again in the 2024 WNBA Finals, where the Liberty claimed their first title. Jones was named the series MVP, and after the season, Stewart was selected to the All-WNBA First Team while Jones and Sabrina Ionescu made the All-WNBA Second Team.

Barclays Center is the downtown Brooklyn home of the New York Liberty. Since hosting the team’s homecoming game in 2021, Barclays Center has housed plenty of playoff action for the Liberty, including two WNBA Finals games in 2023 and three in their 2024 championship series. The downtown Brooklyn digs, which the Liberty share with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, can house 17,732 at capacity. Led by New York Liberty mascot Ellie the Elephant, home games at Barclays Center will leave fans quaking with excitement.

Excited to see a team that we have rooted for since they played at the Garden in 97. The atmosphere was tremendous and even if the team came out a flat , we lead 40-37 at halftime. The mascot and the dancers are first rate along with the singers signed to perform. The quality of play is way better due to more athletic ladies. Will attend finals after we beat suns.
I have been to numerous pro sports games, but NY Liberty fans no how to have fun. Non stop cheering, waving the towel and just overall keeping the fans/crowd going!
My first WNBA game , and my two daughters fist game as well . We had a ball the activities , fan engagement. We will be back it was FUN FUN FUN . GO LIBERTY !!!!!!!

First time going to women's basketball. Really welcoming event. Game was fun. Brought young kids (<10 yo) to the game and they had a lot of fun (including adults!)
Entertainment, Drinks, and the game is always great! Just need more food options but as a growing team I see it in the future. Go Liberty!

It was a great experience but better dancers are needed to keep people entertained. The ones that wear the all black clothing are not it.

Liberty games are an amazingly good time. Aside from the game itself - which was of course incredible - the vibes are fantastic, with a great crowd turning out. Fantastic energy, fun additional entertainment around the game, and positive experiences with all arena staff.
Great event. Great game but they need more entrances open, food/drink stands open for a crowd like this.

This team has manage to bring some joy to NY. They are awesome players who always bring great energy to every game. LOVE IT!
After one game in August I became a season ticket holder for next season . The games are fun and exciting ! The crowd is great and the venue is comfortable with lots of food selections . The entertainment is worth it , they do a great job keeping the crowd hype and they do not mind making sure you have Liberty gear to take home . I am a super fan !
If your talking about the team only I wish they knew how to play defense more against the ball [ like stripping while offender is dribbling or intercepting passes ] instead of physically against the person which creates more fouls

Game 1 was so much fun and high energy all night. Liberty had a tough start to the game but capped off an amazing game 1 victory. Seats were great, food was good and give away after the game was nice.
Barclays sure put on a show for the playoff game! The entry was easy and flawless. All concessions were open so shorter lines. Seat was great and just the environment was electric.
