New York Knicks History
The Knicks were established in 1946 and are one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. The Knicks and Boston Celtics are the only two original NBA teams still located in their original cities.
The Knicks saw early success, advancing to the NBA Finals in three consecutive years from 1950 to 1953. They lost all three series, twice to the Minneapolis Lakers and once to the Rochester Royals. The franchise’s next successful era began in the late '60s, under the tutelage of head coach Red Holzman. They won 54 games in Holzman's first full season as head coach in the 1968–69 season, then improved to 60 wins the following year. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Holzman won Coach of the Year, while center Willis Reed won NBA MVP and Finals MVP.
Holzman and Reed led the Knicks back to the finals in two of the next three seasons, facing the Lakers both times. They split those two series, winning their second championship in the 1972–73 season.
The Knicks did not experience success again until the '90s, when future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing led them back to the NBA Finals in 1993–94 and 1998–99. They lost both series, first in seven games to the Houston Rockets, then in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks traded for star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He proved to be an elite scorer, but team success eluded the Knicks. They made it to the playoffs three times in Carmelo's seven-year tenure with the team, winning one series in 2013.
The Knicks reached the playoffs once again during the 2020–21 season, reinvigorated by power forward Julius Randle, who was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player distinction in 2021, and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2023 with the additional firepower of newly acquired point guard Jalen Brunson.

New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden
Located above Penn Station, the current Madison Square Garden has been the home to the Knicks since 1968 and is one of the most iconic arenas in all of sports. The Knicks' arena has always been called Madison Square Garden, and they played in the previous iteration from the founding of the franchise in 1946 until moving to the current building in 1968. The current MSG is the oldest NBA arena still in use. Madison Square Garden also has the distinction of being the only NBA arena that is not named after a corporate sponsor.

Game was exciting, however the outcome. The seats were not what Iexpected. Based on the floor plan I thought they would be unobstructed. The ceiling blocked our view of the scoreboard and any replays. So we watched most of the game on a monitor. We could have done this at home and saved $330.
Booked tickets prior to arriving in New York as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday! Travelling from England and we always wanted to see a sporting event in New York. The atmosphere was amazing. The entertainment was crazy. Good view all around. Good facilities nearby too. Plenty of bars and toilets spread around, no queues at all. Would definitely recommend for any tourist visiting the city.
I watched the New York Knicks play at Madison Square Gardens on Friday 8 March 2024 with two friends . This was a bucket list event for me and the whole experience lived up to expectations. Getting to and from the stadium was a breeze on the subway. Lots of other excited people were heading to the game, all decked out in their Knicks merch which added to the excitement. Entry into the Gardens was painless with the security screening and ticket checking all working seamlessly. When we got to our seats on the Chase Bridge we had time to check out the food and beverage selections, opting for a classic hot dog. We also had time to have another wee look at the merchandise stand without much of a crowd. The seats were great with unobstructed views of the court. We were in good time to see much of the warm ups and all the pregame entertainment. The match itself was awesome. The Knicks played well led by Jalen Brunson, getting out to an early lead and never relinquishing it. Even in the breaks we were entertained which was a lot of fun. It was simply one of the very best sporting experiences I have ever had!
The Madison Square Garden is an extraordinary arena, the atmosphere surrounding the game is from another world and every aspect of it is so entertaining. One of the best experiences in my life! Absolutely loved it and can't wait to experience it all again!!

Great venue but I was not Informed or notified of the fact my ticket was a clear restricted view Paid a lot of money and not happy as I could not see the full court as glass was in my way
Can't beat The Garden. Egress and exits.need to be greatly improved though. May be time for a new arena

The staff was friendly. I left my phone in the seat and they helped me locate my phone. The bar and food staff was professional and polite.
My wife and I came from Europe to New York, and we bought at home tickets for the game Knicks-Pacers. It was such a great experience. We‘re so proud that we could join and see this game! Our seats were not marked as having an impeded view and yet that's exactly what they had. Couldn't see everything despite paying for just that - absolutely unacceptable.
Great atmosphere, my son and I enjoyed the game a lot. The knicks app enables to store the tickets on the wallet, which is not possible with the ticketmaster app, if you are a foreigner and cannot download the US ticketmaster app. Overall the ticketmaster service is exzellent.
