Wasn't very scary. I barely flinched. Attraction was hard to find. Not enough lights or signs pointed in the right direction. Staff was friendly.
My friends and I went to the Haunted Hayride for the first time on Halloween 2015. We arrived at the park relatively early, so we were able to find FREE parking in the lot very quickly and we only had to wait on line for about 30 minutes. Anyone who had to wait hours more than likely got there sometime after 8PM. If you don't like waiting, then get there EARLY! The exhibits were not that scary, but we still had a good time. I think pre-teens and teenagers would probably find the ride to be scarier and more amusing.
The ride is uncomfortable to sit in. You sit in the back of a truck on a bed of hay that eventually goes into your butt crack. No legs space whatsoever. There was like one actor that scared me but that was it. Please if your gonna spend money on a haunted attraction go to anything but this. It's not worth the money at all.
I was really disappointed with this event. It wasn't a 45 minute ride as advertised. It was more like a 20 minute ride. The actors need really need to take acting lessons. They were not scary at all. It was more comical than horror. They need to add more props. Definitely not worth the $50 admission. Very disappointed.
To start off positive, the actual costuming and ride itself was very good. Some parts scary, costumes and concept were great, and a lot longer ride than i was expecting. The not great part, I bought the shuttle tickets but after waiting over an hour it never showed up and i ended up having to catch a cab, which also got lost with the directions given. There were no other attractions there. This was very disappointing because I spent extra money for the VIP tickets but there wasn't a single VIP perk. There was no line to skip, and there was no front row anything, and there was no other attractions. This part really upsets me, don't offer VIP if there is nothing to it.
The (additional cost) shuttle service was disorganized -- be prepared to have to fight your way into a shuttle past people in line behind you who are running to board. There's no staff on hand to help with this, or even to check that you purchased a shuttle ticket. The wait time for the shuttle to Randalls Island and to board a hayride after we arrived was about four times as long as the hayride itself, which lasted about 20 minutes. Waiting in line on Randalls Island, there was a little music piped in from across the lawn, and one guy in a mask (I'm assuming hired by the organizers?) passed us once making some noises, but otherwise, there was nothing happening in the waiting area to suggest we were already "in" the event. Missed opportunity. There were some cool animatronic puppets and masks, and a lot of lame dialogue. A decent portion of the ride consisted of riding past rows of corn with nothing happening. There were areas so well-lit as to lose any sense of forboding, or so dark that you couldn't even see what was lurking to be entertained by it. Not having any kind of fencing/curtains to block out views of NYC skylines and traffic definitely put a damper on it -- you never quite forget you're in the middle of the city.
The attraction isn't all it was cracked up to be. More appropriate for small children than adults without children. After traveling all the way to Randall's island and paying 35 bucks a ticket I left pretty disappointed. The ride only lasted 20 mins and wasn't worth the trouble or the cash imo.
Haven't been to a Haunted Hayride in maaaaany years, but the fact that all of the food was vegan really encouraged me to go. I enjoyed the empanadas and chips. My favorite moment from the hayride was watching the three people, decked out in all white, dancing... it was like a modern art piece. The aesthetic of the hayride was pretty nice. The only two things I disliked about the hayride itself was the seating arrangement (it was uncomfortable), and I think there could've been more scares.
Don't waste your money! It wasn't scary or entertaining at all
Not scary at all, but It was nice to see where the money went towards. The costumes and theatrics were just amazing, but because you can basically see the ghouls coming for you in advance, the whole event is just a show.
It was great. Scary Fun! Kids loves it Actors epic
The line went much quicker than what the reviews said, but I was not remotely scared.
After purchasing my tickets I read reviews (I know kind of backwards). The reviews were mixed but I can agree with them. I loved the costumes and the scenery. It wasn't scary a all. A bit fun because I went with a group of men and women and the other women were scared so that was funny. The line wasn't too long maybe 20minutes. The ride was hay sprinkled on the floor (in which you had to sit). The staff were not professional (They screamed the rules at the top of their lungs). They looked like they were just chosen off the street. There was nothing else other than the ride. No other attractions. There was so much space, I feel they could have made use of. Selling food or playing amusement park type games with a halloween theme. BTW your seats and time slot does not mean anything. It's first come first serve. We lucked out and had a short line. We got there. Waited in line for 20 min. Spent 20min on the 'ride. then left. I would have rather spent my money on a Haunted House.
this was my first hayride. it was OK, not very scary, I guess it was for kids up to 13 or 15... The shuttle system was not reliable, take the bus.
For this place to charge $35 per ticket is crazy. 10 year old probably wont be scared. waste of money.
I would recommend going - but its not worth the vip ticket. Buy regular admition and show up early - I purchased a vip ticket just to be stuffed in 1 waggon full with hay and not even regular seats . I was super uncomfortable and couldnt enjoy the ride to the fullest.. Word of advice - dont put soo much people in the waggon next year.. .. The only way to fully enjoy your hay ride is to purchase a privite waggon- but the money that cost isnt worth it. You may as well soend it in 6 flags
I purchased tickets for 9 pm. Regardless of what your ticket says, its a first come first serve type of situation - so I ended up waiting for three hours - what joy! A few other things to note, -its not a hayride, you just sit in the back of a truck -it is not scary -the ride is short considering that you will have to wait 3 hours
Definitely not work the money at all. Costumes were gorgeous, but it was not scary at all. By the end, I was bored out of my skull.
This place is not scary it's is more suitable for children. If you are looking for a scary place this is not for you don't bother to buy vip because it's not worth it. They cram way to many people in one wagon. My experience was very uncomfortable. Vip offers no use just to skip a already short line and on top of that we had the worst seats sitting in the middle row with people's feet kicking into us. Not worth the money
The haunted hayride was great. It was a great ride
