Jazz Fest sans the Rolling Stones

by g. on 5/11/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

We planned a trip to the Jazz Fest and New Orleans based on seeing The Rolling Stones. All our travel arrangements were non refundable so we decided to still visit . The lineup and quality of the entertainment were good and we thoroughly enjoyed our day at the Jazz Fest. The food we purchased was good and I feel the concession pricing to be fair. We recommend this event and will return, our previous trip to Jazz Fest being 1986 it has changed over time.

    My very 1st Jazz Festival!!!

by C. M. on 5/11/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Well I tried going April 25th but the weather was awfully scary so we went shopping in Slidell, LA. I decided to go Saturday and met with friends. Glad I did that because I had no clue where to go once I were inside. I wish Alianis Morrisette would have changed to another time! Maybe next year!!! Food was awesome and reasonably priced...people were very friendly and security was great!

A wonderful 50th anniversary of the Jazzfest

by Ebitma on 5/11/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

It’s been five years since my last Jazzfest and it seemed much improved. There were bleachers at the Acura Stage and Congo Square for the public - a very nice amenity for those who want to see the stage or screens more easily. Also liked the “bar” provided by Miller Lite, offering a more comfortable place to have a beer than standing around or navigating back to your blanket or chair. It seemed like there were more vendors and experiences and the crowds didn’t seem as bad as I have experienced in the past. And of course, the music was excellent. Couple of acts needed better sound engineering- Chaka Kahn, Diana Ross - the volume seemed too low in the back. Overall, a great experience.

Won side-stage passes to Jimmy Buffett

by Diane on 5/10/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Winning side-stage passes from Acura to Jimmy Buffett made it all the better! My husband and I had such a fun time with friends on our first visit to Jazz Fest.

    A Great Festival

by NO Jazz and Heritage Festival on 5/10/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

The 50th Anniversary of the NO Jazz and Heritage Festival was as usual a great Festuval. The line ups were great and the musicians excelled in their performances. The only thing I did not like much was the schedule of the different shows. In the past it was possible to move between shows since they did not start at the same time. This year we had to make a choice and since the shows were good we could not see the other shows we wanted since they occurred at the same time.I hope that in the future the organization could do better on that regard. Thanks.

    Always a great time

by J. R. on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Great music, fantastic people, good food. However, the crowds on the weekend are getting to be too big and a bit of a drag. Hard to walk around, bathrooms very crowded, etc. The price of success apparently.

    Jazzfest 2019

by Rocksid on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

As always, the music options are second to none. Great food options as well. However, the lack of porti-potty availibiltiy and cleanliness options for those holding non exlusive tickets is unacceptable. Particularly, for women.

    Disappointed

by DBR on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Bought 6 GA two day tickets. Went on Friday. Felt like a fair. Too much food and vendors. Beer stations sparse. Restrooms in adequate. Stages too close, sound quality not good. Blew off our 2nd day for a trip around town. Probably won’t return or recommend. You’re trying to do too much in a small space. Go to Atlanta to Music Midtown.

The Fest was great. Too much music and too many groups to listen to and see. It is a festival that has gotten too big! Glad to have seen what I saw. Thank you.

    Jazz Fest

by Dmband on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

This was our first year and we attended the festival three of the four days (with the first day being sold out at first). The overall experience was amazing and we will continue to go. While we loved the headlining acts, our goal was to see as many new acts as possible and experience the local and regional acts. In my opinion and dozens of festival experiences, there should not have been other shows playing during headliners. Also, the last night of the festival, we barely caught Fogerty and that was because we left Buffet early. No one should have to choose between Buffet and Fogerty lol. I was excited about the festival ending at 7p each night so we could enjoy the city, however as soon as I realized the choices we would have to make in order to see certain bands, it kind of isn’t worth it. People go to a festival for the music. If they want to spend time in the city they can take an extra day or two. For us, the music is more important and that is what a music festival is all about. I will say I love and respect how much revenue the festival makes for the city because it does end so early. So basically, the overlapping of bands was problematic and disappointing. Not enough to make us miss another one. Much love for all the work and love invested in the festival and we will see you next year💚

    GREAT Time

by Sean on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Bring your walking shoes, folding chair, and sense of fun! Soooo many great acts to see! The only problem was picking which one(s) to head to at any single time and how you could break away long enough to get to the top-notch food! Coming back again, and then again after that!

    Fantastic Memories

by Fray House on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

We selected the dates to attend based on the singer/songwriters we love but so glad we stopped in on arists we didnt know. Amazing talent at all the stages. The Blues Tent is crowded and hot but it didnt keep us away from watching Eric Lindel and Jarekus Singleton

    Water Infrastructure Lacking

by K Dubs on 5/9/19New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

The music lineup and performances were great - we attended Friday and Saturday the second weekend. The festival was more crowded than I expected and I would gladly have paid twice as much for the tickets to have half as many folks present. But that would have only taken it down to 4 stars for me. The biggest flaw of JazzFest and the reason for the 3 stars is the absolutely pitiful water setup. I'm sorry but I have no interest in being coerced into buying single use plastic bottled water while I try to stay hydrated during a long day in the Louisiana heat/humidity. The "public water" options were few and far between and the geometry and functionality of the spigots made it such that it was difficult to fill a bottle with more than a few ounces. This is inexcusable as far as I am concerned.
