About

NEIL YOUNG IN CONCERT:

Singer-songwriter legend Neil Young thrilled fans in 2013 with the announcement of North American and European tour dates alongside his longtime collaborative band Crazy Horse. Among the highly-coveted 2014 dates are four nights at Carnegie Hall as well as a series of “Honor of Treaties” benefit concerts with Diana Krall to aid the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund.

“Neil Young and Crazy Horse play like the rock and roll legends that they are. Truly a great show reminiscent of the classics from the early days.”

“They weren't going through the motions, they were making them. Improvising, jamming, messing up, laughing, only in the way Neil and the Horse can. They were so tightly tuned in to one another and sounded great, but the best part was that they seemed happy to be there, happy to perform.”

“Neil is a genius! After all these years, he still rocks and puts on a great show!”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Since the late '60s, Young has released over 35 studio albums, exploring such diverse genres  as country-folk, pop, noise, punk, and electronica. He’s best known, however, for his iconic folk rock songwriting, popularized by his hugely successful collaborations with Crazy Horse and supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Never content to rest on his laurels, Young has remained musically prolific and sonically experimental, earning rave reviews for his 2012 double-LP release Psychedelic Pill.

    Venue Could Be Improved

    by LRD on 7/28/23

I loved the music but given what I paid for premium seats I was very disappointed. The stage needs to be higher and jumbo video monitors should have been present on both sides of the stage

    Neil Being Neil

    by SeJd on 7/28/23

I love seeing Neil with Crazy Horse and other backup bands. This concert was special - Neil being Neil - solo. Neil brought an incredible line from I’m the Ocean to the Hootenanny version of Love Earth. Well done, at times it sounded as though the full band was there!

    Played no songs I knew

    by Mika on 7/27/23

He was eclectic and not great. No songs I’d heard of…and I know a lot of his songs.

    Neil Young Coastal Solo

    by Rosebud on 7/27/23

We enjoyed the close up personal experience at the concert. Attended the Lake Tahoe Show under the beautiful stars and cool night. Loved the experience of just Neil on stage. We would of liked the big screens to have been included. Was a great show and Neil still speaking out against the greed of Government's and Corporations destroying our Mother Earth. Neil and his music has remained for fighting injustices of our planet. What's your favorite planet? 🤣🌎 Neil played a long time and his fans, especially us, didn't want the show to end. Thanks for all the years of his music. 🇨🇦🇺🇲

    Fun to see once

    by Rockindoc on 7/27/23

Great venue except for the pit toilets. All the staff are extremely friendly. Show itself was OK. Neil is 77 and seems to be slowing down. He doesn't move around much and doesn't have a lot to say. Majority of the songs were obscure tunes with a few well known ones thrown in for good measure. It was just Neil solo playing a variety of pianos, harps, and organ and various guitars. Overall an OK concert but seemed to drag the whole night. Wouldn't go to this venue again as it's a 2 1/2 hour drive one way from my house, parking is $35 (total rip off ) ticket prices are well above $100 each, $50 for a pizza and 2 beers at a local pizzeria, $50 for gas, etc. It's just getting too expensive to go to concerts anymore these days.

    Very disappointed

    by Diane on 7/27/23

Very disappointed in all his rules. No water bottles allowed inside, only his choices of food and drink. But most disappointed that the big screens weren't on so that we all could actually see him

    Venue

    by Traveler 4 on 7/27/23

Neil Young was good. The venue was horrible. The bleachers were very hard. The video boards did not work. Neil started an hour late and no one was engaged in the concert. Everyone was just walking around and talking. Probably the worst concert I have attended.

    Awesome show

He is one of the most humble musicians I've seen. He plays 100%

    Disappointing

    by KC on 7/27/23

First of all, we love the venue. Perfect space and perfect weather. Easy in/easy out. We were disappointed that Neil Young only played a couple of his old well known classics (Ohio, Heart of Gold). He seemed put off by the crowds lack of enthusiasm surrounding everything else he performed. What a shame because he still has an amazing voice for his age.

The Man, the Myth, the Legend

    by Mack on 7/27/23

It was a good show, felt close to the stage and Neil was really funny. Some hecklers wanted certain songs and started being jerks about it and Neil handled it well by playing a song about love, deflecting the issue. Parking took a while but was super close to the entrance. The sound was perfect; everything audible and nothing too loud.

Neil was as good as ever however the constant clanging coming from the tunnel at the back of the venue was very annoying

Great show but too short for Neil!

    by Deedee on 7/27/23

Neil Young. A classic I grew up with. His music is timeless and it was great to see him in person once again. I hope he performs soon with all his classic hits.

    Wonderful experience

    by Forever Fan on 7/27/23

No one on planet Earth expresses what they're about like Neil Young. Hold on to the edge of your seat while at the same time relishing in the moment. This is as raw as it gets for a solo act. Loved every precious second of it.

    Intimate Concert with a message

    by Care on 7/27/23

An intimate style concert with a message of peace/love and compassion for others and love for the planet we live on. Neil Young played the pump organ, paino, harmonica, guitar. A great experience to have been a part of. Chris Pierce opened for Young, and is truly a great songwriter/singer. Peace

    Not What I thought

    by DP on 7/27/23

He is a fantastic musician composer writer, but he has got to know what his fans want to hear. But I do have to give him some slack considering his age. The songs we wanted to hear came at the very end and then only 3 were played. Otherwise it was a very slow night. Nobody got up to move their bodies and dance to his tunes and we certainly could have used that on such a cool night. I only wished I had seen him 30 years ago.

    Good, not Great

    by Robert on 7/27/23

The Neil Young concert was good but disappointing. Neil was very good but he didn't play many of his biggest songs like Old Man and Cinamon Girl. I didn't recognize half of the ones he did. I think most people buy expensive tickets to hear artists perform their biggest hits and that didn't happen. I only remember two big ones he did: Heart of Gold and Ohio. If you're going to hear his biggest hits, you might want to save your money. Also, we were on row 6 on the right side of the stage and due to the pianos on the stage, we couldn't see very well for many songs. I was surprised they didn't have a video of the concert on the large screens on both sides of the stage like they've done in the past at this venue.

I love the venue at lake Tahoe. First time seeing Neil Young, he was great! But I was sad he didn't play my favorite song. Old Man☹️
