Not the venue for me
by Tim on 7/27/23The stage setup was terrible. Second row from stage toward the side. On multiple occasions could not see Neal at all, and virtually never saw more than to half.

NEIL YOUNG IN CONCERT:
Singer-songwriter legend Neil Young thrilled fans in 2013 with the announcement of North American and European tour dates alongside his longtime collaborative band Crazy Horse. Among the highly-coveted 2014 dates are four nights at Carnegie Hall as well as a series of “Honor of Treaties” benefit concerts with Diana Krall to aid the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund.
“Neil Young and Crazy Horse play like the rock and roll legends that they are. Truly a great show reminiscent of the classics from the early days.”
“They weren't going through the motions, they were making them. Improvising, jamming, messing up, laughing, only in the way Neil and the Horse can. They were so tightly tuned in to one another and sounded great, but the best part was that they seemed happy to be there, happy to perform.”
“Neil is a genius! After all these years, he still rocks and puts on a great show!”
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Since the late '60s, Young has released over 35 studio albums, exploring such diverse genres as country-folk, pop, noise, punk, and electronica. He’s best known, however, for his iconic folk rock songwriting, popularized by his hugely successful collaborations with Crazy Horse and supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Never content to rest on his laurels, Young has remained musically prolific and sonically experimental, earning rave reviews for his 2012 double-LP release Psychedelic Pill.

The evening was beautiful. I was ready to hear some old-time favorites and only heard one. I was disappointed. Neil is a very talented musician and he chose not to share his greatest hits, had I known this was his plan I would not have attended. Lake Tahoe is still beautiful though and I really enjoyed the venue.
After all these years, we expected him to play all his classic hits. Instead, he played some new stuff that we weren’t crazy about and very few of the old songs.
Good show .Neil Young is a great performer even at his age.
Nice to catch up on what he’s been thinking about—love—obviously. “Comes a Time,” “Four Strong Winds,” “Four Dead in Ohio,” & “Heart of Gold.” All my favorites.
Seeing Neil Young in concert was a bucket list item for me. Saw him in Lake Tahoe last Sunday night. He played 3 songs I was familiar with and butchered one of them (Mr Soul). However, his voice is still good. He bumbled around, forgot lines and simply didn’t care if his audience was satisfied or not. Walked out before end of concert. Would demand a refund if it was possible.
Neil Young did a great job. He’s such a wonderful person and musician. But why were the side screens not on. For people in the back, they could not even see him playing the instruments or see him clearly. Would have been much more enjoyable.
Neil Young is a music legend no doubt. The few songs he sang from the oldies but goodies on his guitar were amazing! The bummer side was he started really late and I didn’t recognize a majority of the songs he played on his piano/organ. Wishing he would have played his classics- everyone was anxiously waiting to rock out but it never happened. Very “interesting” concert- not at all what I would have expected. Still enjoyed seeing my rock legend for the first time.
Neil Young was very engaging. Have been to other concerts of older performers and Neil was way better than those. He was terrific! Glad I had the opportunity to see him and loved the fact that they made it difficult for scalpers to resell tickets to this event and gouge real fans.
Neil Young only played a couple of his hit songs. He seemed more concerned with what our favorite planet was instead of caring about what his fans wanted. Waste of $200 and we were front center.
Maybe I'm just not a big enough fan because I didn't recognize any but TWO songs. Would I go again? No. BUT it was a gorgeous night, a great venue in South Lake Tahoe and I still had a wonderful time! I am impressed that he's still rockin' it after all these decades! Oh, and I'm not a liberal so there's that, haha! Maybe a little too "mother earth"for me! WTG tho Neil
Neil's performance was one of a true classic. He had three types of pianos, three types of guitars, a harmonica and one voice. He played what he wanted to play and the set list couldn't have been better. I've seen him several times in the past with his band but this concert exceeded my expectations. Thank you Neil. Love Earth.
I could not believe Neil’s choice of songs him performed at the concert as they were all poorly written, never heard before by me, and had no place on stage! I left early as the performance was terrible. He should have performed his popular songs that made him a superstar as everyone expected instead of such misplaced songs that got him zero recognition.
I was disappointed in the song selection he played not the quality of his music. I didn’t know one song the 1st hour of the show. In total he only played three of his bigger hits that most of the crowd knew and it was an older crowd. When paying the amount you do for tickets now they should not go off in their own direction and not play what people pay to hear.
Harvey's Outdoor concert venue is a wonderful place to see a concert. Neil Young did not disappoint!! Neil's voice was expressive and clear. Sound was amazing and the natural beauty of the venue outstanding. I will be back for more shows at Harvey's Lake Tahoe!
I love the guy but I came to hear him and his band. The solo act wore out pretty quickly.
Did not play but three songs of his hits! Stumbled through the concert. Could not speak well to the audience. Hes done!
We had seats at the back of the field so could not see the stage and there were no screens. It was very cold, I waited about 45 minutes at the merch table and they were sold out of sweatshirts. Neil Young played mostly new stuff, not his old beloved songs that the audience wanted to hear.
Neil Young sounded wonderful, but we could not see him or the stage without craning our necks the entire time, from our seats in the Silver Circle. The foldout seats were so close together we & our neighbors were on top of each other. The leg space in the rows between the seats was a joke you could barely get down it to your seat. This was the worst venue I’ve ever been to, from the disorganized confusing entry & location, the disappointing food & drinks, especially for Napa, outhouses without even hand washing stations. We will not be returning without significant upgrades.
I never know what to expect with Neil - which is why his shows are always fascinating - even when they miss. This one was right on target - Neil is in stronger voice than every, his song selection at once interesting, generous, and at time obscure. Venue in Napa was accessible - and the mood of the crowd grateful. The one thing that was VERY clear - Neil is not near to being done Rock'n in the Free World.
