About

Comedian Nate Bargatze’s clean-cut and relatable humor is why The Atlantic called him “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up.” The Nashville, Tennessee native and host of the Nateland podcast found his voice in the mid-2000s with regular appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bargatze was featured on Jimmy Fallon's Clean Cut Comedy Tour 2013, three years after he was named “New York's Funniest Stand-Up” at the New York Comedy Festival. Since then, Bargatze has been selling out arenas on solo tours and in support of comedy icons like Chris Rock. Bargatze’s signature deadpan delivery was showcased in his 2021 Netflix special, The Greatest Average American, which earned a Grammy Award nomination for the coinciding comedy album. His 2023 Amazon Prime special Nate Bargatze: Hello World became the most-streamed original comedy special debut in Prime history — with 2.9 million viewers in its first 28 days — culminating in Bargatze breaking the attendance record for Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Bargatze hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the second time in fall 2024 and also co-produced a holiday variety special titled “Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas” with Lorne Michaels. In May 2025, Bargatze published his highly-anticipated first book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, which became an instant New York Times bestseller. Coming up for 2026, Bargatze will host his new comedy game show, The Greatest Average American, which premieres on February 25 on ABC and Hulu, and will star in the family-friendly comedy film, The Breadwinner, which is scheduled to be released on March 13.

  • Nate Bargatze

    by M. Bonov on 11/13/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

My face still hurts from Nate's gig. And it is 3 days after the show. He is wry, contemporary, relevant and a blast!

  • Hilarious

by Leafee on 11/13/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Saw this guys Netflix special, which had me crying I was laughing so hard. So I had to buy tickets when he came to DC, he did not disappoint. I laughed the entire show! This guy is hilarious and my new favorite comedian!!

  • Five Star

    by G on 11/12/19Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I would highly recommend this show. Nate was so funny and my whole family laughed through the whole show. Would definitely see him again. Five Star.

  • So Funny but theatre smelled like old lady

by Bate Nargatze on 11/12/19Town Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Nate bargatze was great, laughed at every joke. No repeats from his Netflix specials. Sat in balcony, row C, could see just fine. My complaints are with Town Hall, our seating area smelled like moth balls and grannies perfume. 2 coronas and a wine cost $57, sweet Lorna doone!

  • Laughed the Entire Time

by Jess on 11/12/19Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Nate is hysterical. I couldn't stop laughing. Definitely would see him again and Town Hall is a great venue.

  • Outstanding!

    by K. D on 11/12/19Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Nate is funniest comic I have seen in a long time. We laughed from the moment he walked out on stage until he walked off. Actually we laughed all the way home. Great night!

  • Bargatze has come into his own

by NorthStar on 11/10/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan of Nate Bargatze for years, going back to his early days at small venues. I was delighted to see him sell out a major venue, the Warner Theater in DC, for two shows, and he really rose to the occasion. His material for the hour long routine was all new but maintained the humorous self-effacing regular guy persona that first attracted and amused me. His baseball routine about the in-the-park home run off of a walk is brilliantly funny and will become a classic. He is clean and likable. I highly recommend Nate to anyone who enjoys stand-up.

  • So funny

by Justin on 11/10/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Definitely recommend seeing him. I can watch him over and over and I laugh every time. Awesome venue. Friendly staff.

  • Rolling in the theater

    by R. on 11/10/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Nate did an hour of new material and then hit em with some classic hits. The entire theater was rolling. True LOL experience.

  • Good not great

by Theoneandonly on 11/10/19Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I’ve been to previous Nate Bargatze shows and this one seemed like one that should’ve been performed in a small club rather than Warner Theatre. There was one opener for a short time and wasn’t very funny, then Nate came and did about 40 minutes of new material and 20 minutes of old stuff. I felt like for the price, venue, and specific tour it should’ve been more grand and had higher expectations.

  • Laugh out loud

by CristelV on 10/30/19Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Truely hilarious. The gentlemen who came out before Nate was funny aswell. Highly recommend seeing his show- Mr. Bargatze has original material, and does some of his previous material in his encore.

  • Storytelling (and deadpan) at it's finest.

by Tree_Weasel on 10/30/19Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Nate Bargatze is a phenomenal comedian. I've been a fan of his work since "Yelled at by a Clown" came out. He is an incredible storyteller, taking some of the more mundane details of daily life and weaving jokes and observations into them in a masterful way that surprises you with the punchline and leaves you wanting more. He could also teach a master class in deadpan. Barely breaking a smile the entire show, he left the audience in stitches and still looked as though he was just chatting with strangers at a bus stop. His new material deliverers a lot of similar themes of his previous work, but still feels new and fresh. After 15+ years in comedy it feels like he is still hitting is stride and improving with each new special. If you ever have a chance, grab an iced coffee with milk and go see Nate perform immediately.

  • Made my eyes water

by Birdie on 10/30/19Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Nate had me laughing the entire show- at some points so hard that my eyes watered. Great show, and his opener was funny, too.

  • Loved it!

He was super funny, and he didn’t disappoint!!!!!!

  • Great show

by John B. on 10/29/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Hope to see Nate back in Houston soon. He did a great job during the early show and had a good sense of humor about a World Series game going on during his set.

  • Late but great

by Nick Fan on 10/29/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself was great! However it started an hour late!! We arrived 30 minutes before showtime only to wait outside in a very long line until the doors opened at 7:00pm - the published showtime. Finally at 8:00 pm the show started. No one ever said a word about why it started so late or when it would be starting. Also the nacho cheese was ice cold on the nachos! Nate was awesome though!

  • Nate Bargatze

by David S on 10/29/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Nate checks all the boxes. He proves you don't have to cuss or be raunchy to be funny. I had a feeling Nate is about to become a household name as far as popularity is concerned.

  • Nate’s great...House of Blues isn’t for comedy

by Comedy Fan on 10/29/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve seen Nate live three times now and he hasn’t disappointed yet. My issue was the venue, House of Blues Houston. During the entire show, there was a constant noise that sounded like a vacuum cleaner. It wasn’t a vacuum cleaner, but that’s what it sounded like. For a rock concert, it wouldn’t have been noticeable...for comedy, it was very distracting. They also put the people who paid the most for tickets in flimsy plastic folding chairs shoved very close together. On top of that, the prices for drinks are insane. $13 for a beer! So yeah, I always recommend seeing Nate...but I don’t think I’d see him at House of Blues again.

  • Hilarious, amazing, go see him

by Knickname on 10/24/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Nate was incredible! I was laughing non-stop from the moment he took the stage to the moment he left. Better yet, so were my family and friends that were new to his comedy. Nate was by far the best comic that I've seen live...and I've seen quite a few. I can't recommend him enough. The new jokes were amazing! I hope he turns it into a Netflix special.

  • Very funny show!

    by M. Y. on 10/22/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, very funny, flow of the show was smooth. Venue was very nice, sound was great and we sat near the back.
